I think the MIC has a clear advantage at #1 (we will likely get to see it play out at Lucas Oil Stadium if I had to bet right now). The HCC's 2-4 can play with the MIC's 2-4 and have on many occasions. I honestly think the bottom three in the HCC are superior to the bottom three in the MIC. Hell, Avon is last in the HCC right now and LN needed a drive in the final minute to beat them. And LN is probably the MIC's 5th best team. Surely someone will come in here and tell me that I am wrong and act offended though. The MIC slappies hate reality.

Also plausible. -
4A #1 Roncalli vs 3A #1 Brebeuf
temptation replied to fenderbender's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I’m excited for this one. If Brebeuf can keep it within single digits I firmly believe it cements them as the 3A favorite. -
Much more worried about my futures bet of ND over 8.5 than I am about my IU under 8.

Man, that is an impressive list of which to be included. Some real heavyweights, particularly in terms of states WELL KNOWN as football hotbeds. -
Are some coaches too conservative in your opinion?

Counterpoint, when a team lines up in the shotgun/pistol on 4th and short, I cringe. -
Hammond Morton at Cathedral

Speaking of which (maybe deserving of its own thread and not wanting to derail this thread) but has Warren picked up anyone for week 10? With the bye week already in place in 6A, that'd be three weeks between the last game of the regular season and the start of the sectional if I am not mistaken. Advantage/disadvantage? -

Not to beat a dead horse but damn, what a road trip just to get throttled. -
Yikes. Don't know much about WKU except that they are usually decent and make a late December bowl game. If the Hoosiers don't win this Saturday, just cancel the rest of the season.

My bad. Good catch. Point still stands.

No said the guy responding to the guy who is complaining about IMG being brought up in a thread about NATIONAL RANKINGS (in which IMG is listed twice). 1,501. -

You try too hard sometimes. -
Sure but as I stated…AT LEAST 3 games left on the schedule (PSU, MSU, Michigan) that now appear MUCH tougher than originally anticipated. Not too far fetched to say the same about Maryland and Rutgers also. Minnesota just went out and shut out a Colorado State team (that had Texas A&M on the ropes) 30-0. OSU will still end up as OSU and boredom is their biggest obstacle in October. I think my original prediction of under 6.5 wins is sitting damn pretty right now. Purdue game might be for bowl eligibility. After WKU, not ONE guaranteed win left on the schedule.

Honestly they shouldn’t need him against Illinois.

CG/Cathedral at Arlington????
temptation replied to StatQueen's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
The video quality of the CG crew is top notch. The "homerism" (to be expected I guess) of the color guy in particular (Kitchel?) is way over the top for this guy however. -
Oh I don’t blame you for taking the high road but the results on the field speak for themselves. Not saying it’s fair, but plenty of “first-rate human beings who care deeply for their players” end up on the chopping block. It is just a game played by children, however which is sometimes hard to keep in mind.

Couldn’t agree more. @BDGiant93’s “no comment” statement in the other thread WAS indeed a comment in and of itself.

This is what I also see. Who knows what Indiana will be once Thanksgiving rolls around? Boilers could get that one also.

Anybody doubling down on 8 wins? 9? 10? This team is who most rational people knew they were. A beneficiary of a Covid year with zero crowds, player opt outs and fool’s gold. Allen is good coach, talent developer and a solid motivator, but that’s where it ends. Be happy with bowl eligibility annually.

Any history buffs know the highest ranked matchup between two Indiana schools in state history? Could CG/Cathedral be it next month? (Oh yeah, and IMG is NOT a high school IMO...) -
Rough week last week now brings the Temp to 11-2 in picking MIC vs MIC contests in 2021. Ben Davis @ Lawrence North: HUGE trap game for the Giants in my opinion. I stated in the other thread that last week's DEVASTATING (no other way to put it) home rivalry loss to Warren would be difficult to bounce back from. They get an LN squad that I have tabbed as "the best of the rest" in terms of the bottom half of the MIC. This one will be closer than people think but I think the Giants actually close this one out. 30-27 BD. Center Grove @ Lawrence Central: The young/JV kids for CG get into the game early once again as LC provides no resistance to the Trojan machine. Running clock early in this one. I'll say CG rolls 59-7. North Central @ Carmel: Last week proved to me that Carmel is on the rebound after the loss to CG. They let Pike/LN hang around early before smashing the gas pedal in the second half. I say they do much of the same this week against a reeling NC squad. 'Hounds roll 45-13. Pike @ Warren Central: The third of three potential running clock games this week as the bottom three in the MIC are flat out putrid. There is no other way to spin it. Warren's win last week could seriously change the trajectory of their season and I wonder if they have a QB controversy on the east side. Let's not forget that they scored THIRTY-SIX second half points with their backup QB last week. WC rolls 52-17. What say you?

The Temp is now 10-2 on the season in picking HCC vs HCC contests. Avon @ Fishers: Fishers seems to be plateauing after a quick start and contests against the upper echelon of the conference. Avon, on the other hand could not stop the bleeding last week in a loss to Franklin Central. I see another loss in their future as the Tigers break a two game losing streak and hand Avon their 6th straight in 2021. Fishers 30-14. Brownsburg @ Westfield: For the second straight week, Westfield plays a conference title deciding contest, this time at home against fellow conference co-leader Brownsburg. Can't speak from visual experience but it seems in looking at the box scores recently that Brownsburg is letting inferior teams hang around for a while, whereas Westfield seems to be finding their stride early and often. I expect the 'Rocks to basically lock up the conference title this week with a fairly decisive win at home. Westfield 28-13. Hamilton Southeastern at Zionsville: HSE found out last week that they were not quite ready for the prime time and still have work to do to break into the elite of the conference hierarchy. Zionsville broke a two-game losing streak with a feel good game against Noblesville. I expect this one to be close but give the edge to the Royals 24-20. Noblesville at Franklin Central: Two teams that are probably ahead of schedule but still have a ways to go to break out of the bottom of the conference. Noblesville did some damage outside of the conference, whereas FC has now rattled off two consecutive conference wins for the first time since joining the HCC in 2018. I think they make it three. FC wins 30-20. What say you?

If you KNOW you are going for it on 4th down, I have no problem with trying to get 3-4 yards via the run game on 3rd down and 7/8. Doesn't sound like its working against the better teams on their schedule though.
