  1. How does a large number of students in the building improve graduation rate percentage positively?
  2. I get it. I just have a hard time believing anyone at Carmel (the easiest target in this argument) could look at me with a straight face and tell me they are doing what’s best for their students in a school of 5200.
  3. But at what point does it reach a point of diminishing returns? You can have 4000+ students and have amazing programs in the areas you mentioned but can also do that with two schools of 2000 (tougher in football as I’ve repeatedly stated however). Football aside, how many kids are falling through the cracks/missing out on opportunities at schools of 3500+? Lets take sports like golf, swimming, and cross country for example. Only a dozen or so of athletes in those sports get to compete at a varsity level and at a place like Carmel, these “no cut” type sports have HUNDREDS of athletes participating. I know for a fact that fringe varsity/high level JV athletes in swimming and cross country at Carmel participate at the next level, which is ludicrous when you think about it. Splitting into 2500/2500 is best from both an athletic and participation standpoint in my opinion.
  4. I don’t think they do unless you are referring to athletics only. I can’t speak to that.
  5. Bold prediction: Carmel and CG are out of the MIC sometime before the turn of the decade. Thinking more so in terms of ALL sports, their athletic domination is more of an issue than LC’s non-competitiveness. If I’m not mistaken, CG or Carmel took home 17 of the 20 conference titles across the board this past academic year. With the changing demographics, I still say replace Carmel and CG with Avon and Franklin Central.
  6. Good info. I tend to agree but Carmel and Ben David seem to make it work. What if it were solely for athletic purposes?
  7. An LN/LC consolidation (even if only for athletic purposes) would serve the district well from a competitive standpoint but is it best for ALL students? Probably not. Has this idea ever been seriously tossed around? Perry/Southport also.
  8. Man, I hate agreeing with you. To this point, is there some sort of directory you can provide showing where most Cathedral/Chatard kids “would” go to school were they to use their address as their home district?
  9. If IU is “riding some momentum” why are you capping it at 7? Wouldn’t that be a step back? Go big or go home. How about 9 or 10 big guy?
  10. Now do non-affluent communities who ALSO spend extravagantly...
  11. What about the non-suburban schools that are consistently having to pass referendums yet turning around and paying S&C instructors and football coaches near/over 6 figure salaries, despite their published pay scales indicating they shouldn’t be?
  12. Boring. I’m not making a spread bet on a game that is 3 months away. ND “should” win 10 games now that they’ve gone back to their mediocre schedule (spare me the “rivalry” games against a down USC, down FSU, Navy and Stanford). Also not taking any action on Snider or Zionsville sporting the red ring but WILL give you the field if you give me Cathedral.
  13. I think you could make the same argument about any power five team that nearly misses out on playing for a championship or in a bowl game that is beneath them...not just Oklahoma/Auburn. (And I am a betting man…a quite successful one as @BTF will validate for you.)
  14. You can’t talk out of both sides of your mouth. You consistently cite recruiting rankings as a major contributor in determining college football success and there is no question who the more talented team on the field was that night. Which is it? To me it’s simple. The Fiesta Bowl means a HELLUVA lot more to BOISE STATE than it does Oklahoma. You can’t measure desire.
  15. Long term? Hell no it doesn’t. But in the short term many folks love to embellish/embrace a good victimization story.
  16. The “Tattoo 5” now making their case...SMH. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/31812359/terrelle-pryor-tattoo-5-call-ncaa-restore-ohio-state-records
  17. US sprinter...won the trials in the 100 and has a shot at medaling in Tokyo. Left off the team due to testing positive for a banned substance (happened to be marijuana). Many folks outraged and making excuses confusing the fact that it’s a “dumb rule” with justifying her choice to smoke. Many folks, EXCEPT her. She’s owned it. A refreshing behavior in today’s world.
  18. Some rules in society are stupid and don’t make much sense...case in point Sha’Carri Richardson. But that is a separate argument from why they still should be followed. Too often, many folks try to justify the actions of the rule breaker by mixing up the two.
  19. Around that same time, the speed limit on most major highways feeding into Indianapolis was 65 mph. I vaguely remember getting ticketed for going 76 in a 65 (ironically enough when I was in college). Now that those same interstates now have a speed limit of 70 mph, ya think maybe I could write a strongly worded letter, victimize myself and get my fine reduced? I could use some extra cash.
  20. Only need to win 52.4% of the time my man.
  21. I’m a highly organized individual who has a special file cabinet in which I keep receipts of bold statements made by some. You are one of the few willing to play and for that I’m thankful. Many others simply trot out the same tired rhetoric and resort to jabs such as name calling. You don’t. Love how you own it...as I would if I lost/were wrong.
  22. Until they aren’t. The temp keeps receipts. I’ve got two in my pocket and two more that are pending. It’s too easy with this guy.
