  1. Somebody is listening, lol! How do we determine byes? Blind draw?
  2. I assume you are considering juniors as upperclassmen, which I could see but in the scope of talking about 2021, they are still returning for CG. Tayven Jackson, Caden Curry. Daniel Weems (who would have probably started at running back for nearly any other team in Indiana). Mitchell Evans, and James Schott (sorry if I am forgetting others) will once again make CG the most talented team in the state. Never thought I would see a day when Ben Davis (enrollment over 4500) and Warren (enrollment over 3700) were getting a pass for their "youth."
  3. Knew back in October that ND would have to beat Clemson twice...the ACC title game loser is out. Meanwhile, Texas A&M is going to sit back if they win their next three games, and watch Florida lose to Alabama and then sneak in without having to play in their conference title game. It's the SEC way.
  4. Numbers don't lie. BD and WC were not competitive (save for 1 half of football) with CG in 2020. CG will suffer some graduation losses which will certainly have an impact but to pretend that CG does not have "incredibly talented underclassmen" ready to step in is a bit short sighted. Upon further research, Center Grove's JV defeated BD 34-8 and WC 35-15. According to MaxPreps, BD returns its starting QB, but loses its leading rusher, only returns 2 of its top 5 WR and only returns 2 of its top 5 tacklers. MaxPreps shows that WC does return its starting QB/RB but loses its top WR and only returns 2 of its top 5 tacklers. Taking it a step further, CG's freshmen beat BD 29-0 and WC 38-22. These "incredibly talented underclassmen" will get another year to grow so we will see but the results on the field (at all three levels) shows that CG also has some INCREDIBLY TALENTED UNDERCLASSMEN. Its absolutely UNREAL that folks are so quick to dismiss and downplay a program that just ran roughshod through the entire state and established itself as a NATIONAL power.
  5. After more reflection, it's pretty simple to me... If it is viewed as a career award, its Steele's to lose. If it is a reflection of the BEST senior player on a championship team in 2020, its McCahill.
  6. One play call from an undefeated season (sorry I had to).
  7. Whiteland, Zionsville and Westfield ARE the next Center Grove. They’ll be firmly in the 6A picture annually by the middle of this decade.
  8. I see your point but I think CG still wins 6A comfortably without Steele. 5A is a bit more wide open if you take McCahill off of Cathedral. I think the Irish still win it, but it’s a struggle.
  9. Can I also look at Cathedral's without McCahill? If you take away Steele's 1600+ rushing yards, Center Grove STILL racks up 2000+ on the season, good for just outside the top 10 of all 6A programs...
  10. Dare I say it? Ah, why not! SES > Enrollment
  11. Still cannot believe that NC/LN swung and missed on their opportunity for people to take them seriously this year. Especially after 2019, I thought NC would really turn some heads and take the next step this fall. It'll be the same four as always. Wash, rinse, repeat.
  12. I always like this argument and it actually strengthens McCahill's argument. Take he and Steele off of their respective teams and tell me who has the larger drop off?
  13. I'd like to retract my earlier statement on UM giving Harbaugh a covid pass based on information learned this past weekend. Not sure you can recover from what I heard.
  14. On one hand, I know that the virus knows no boundaries but I will say that Marion County was hit harder by COVID due to the fact that many of their families were struggling financially to begin with, compared to their Hendricks County counterparts. That being said, I don't know if I buy that as a legitimate excuse. It seemed to me that Brownsburg and BD went in different directions this season. The 'Dogs peaked early and the Giants improved week by week. I do not really buy into the transitive property too much and while I think it would have been much closer, I still think Brownsburg beats BD if they played again. The Giants caught Carmel at the perfect time whereas Brownsburg did not. 2021 will be interesting.
  15. From what I hear, CG's freshmen and JV teams also went undefeated, so there's also that.
  16. Terre Haute - the Wabash Valley New Albany/Jeff - metro Louisville
  17. Never thought I would see the day when the suburban school with 2700 kids took it to programs like WC/BD and beat them into submission. 2021-22 will be the deciding factors to whether or not it is a trend or just a speed bump. I know where you stand... (Calling this thread now for over 100 responses with over 50 percent of them being insults @DT for his "hot take." Folks so easily "offended" yet play right into his hands.)
  18. Yes it will. Another poster on here even gave me the odds of 2030 for a non-MIC 6A school to take home the hardware.
  19. Taking a look at the 2021 season now that the weekend at LOS is in the rear view mirror. If I were to give you the number 3.5 TODAY in terms of repeat champions of 2021 are you taking the over or the under? Obviously, there will be a new champion in 3A and I believe that Roncalli/Chatard will be the overwhelming favorites in 4A. Cathedral will once again be expected to repeat in 5A and though they lose some talented players, CG will be favored to repeat in 6A... What say you?
  20. Bumping this thread now that we have officially reached the off season, and I think you can make the case that it is a two-horse (no pun intended) race. Look, Fisher is the highest recruit based on the national rankings, but I just don't see it. Not passing judgment on whether or not he is deserving, just being realistic that in the modern era of football, gaudy offensive stats, a successful/championship caliber team, and schedule strength (5A/6A players usually seem to get a "push) it is hard for a non-skill position player to win it. Many have already awarded the award to Steele and could be correct, but I am going to make a case for Nathan McCahill of Cathedral. Both he and Steele are the primary skill position players on their team as 53 percent of Cathedral's total offensive yardage was from the arm/legs of McCahill whereas Steele only accounted for 30 percent of Center Grove's total offense. Cathedral probably did play a slightly more difficult schedule and had to play their starters late in more games than did CG. Both teams are super talented, but one cannot debate that CG has a more talented "team" around Steele. McCahill accounted for (passing or rushing) 48 of the Irish's 67 total touchdowns whereas Steele's 33 TD's accounted for 42 percent of Center Grove's. You can't go wrong either way and to those of you who have stated it is more of a career award, Steele is the obvious choice, but just looking at the 2020 body of work McCahill is hard to argue against.
  21. Never said that. Indy schools have been doing it for years (see other thread).
  22. Brownsburg’s season was such a head scratcher to me. Just don’t get it.
  23. Agreed but just playing devil’s advocate for the sake of discussion. Other than LN, Westfield (the HCC champ) played CG tougher/closer than any other MIC team. Brownsburg (still my second best team in the HCC, sorry Zionsville) beat BD and lost to Carmel. Avon beat BD. Zionsville made the state finals. The gap is not as wide as many think.
