  1. Who's handing out trophies now? Why play the regular season? Well because it's fun? ... kids enjoy it? children create life-long experiences/memories? children learn a lot from their athletic experience? I could list the reasons for a while. There is no one being cheated. Who cares whether they play 3 weeks earlier? Again, semantics. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I can't actually believe I am reading people say a football game is meaningless. Go watch Columbus East/North play--- tell me how meaningless it is. Brownstown/Seymour. Lawrenceburg East Central. Every Evansville game lol Meaningless if you aren't a competitor, I guess. Man, that's a tough sell... games are meaningless because everyone gets into a state tourney? That's wild and sort of soft, not going to lie.
  2. That doesn't even match up. I said seed the sectionals. My god it's HS football, not college or the pros. None of these teams are getting cheated. Ben Davis and Brownsburg are 8 mins apart.. I mean, of course, they play a lot in the sectional?
  3. In your opinion, in my opinion every kid that plays HS football should get to play in the sectional. I don't really see any watered-downness. Seems like semantics to me, honestly. To each their own, but I see no way it's going to change. There is nothing to support. Not allowing children to play a child's game is just ....not the route I'm going to vote for... ever. It's really not all that difficult to understand. More kids should get the opportunity to enjoy a post-season football game--you guys will be fine in the meantime, I promise. Calling 9 games of regular season practice games is a non-starter for me. Take your conversation up with someone else, it isn't changing. Your need for added incentive is absurd, honestly.
  4. That's a bit of a dramatic take. But sure, man. By not allowing every team in, we gain nothing. We aren't better off by not allowing teams in. I'd seed the top 2 teams using the Sagarin and blind draw the rest. Only changes I would like to see.
  5. Do you even have an example of a team losing every game by 50 points? I'm still failing to see what you gain, the regular season always matters, it literally prepares you for the tourney. But the bottom line---- Every kid should be able to play in the sectional and that's not going to change, no real sense in entertaining the idea.
  6. Well-- yes, it does. I would argue you have 10% more fun 😉 and yes, imo, it is worth it. But-- they still get 40 reps or so even in an intrasquad scrimmage.
  7. I don't think that is true. And to your last sentence-- at camp we get 4 whole practices against other teams. It was all filmed-- counting 7 on 7 reps+11 on 11 reps-- We were probably around 300-350 reps against other teams. That doesn't count our other 2 competition days. Now-- I would also be fine with keeping the scrimmage against an opponent in week 1 of regular practice and eliminating the intrasquad scrimmage, that's fine with me.
  8. I can't entertain the idea of "not everyone gets in the playoffs". One I don't think we'll ever see that happen here and two... I think all kids should get to play in the sectional. I don't think we accomplish anything by not allowing certain teams in.
  9. Awesome, thanks man! I thought Sheridan would get turf soon, excellent program!
  10. I would--- dump the scrimmage week and make that week 1, and yes, move to a 10 game regular season.
  11. @WWFan Brownstown started 8 SOs last season and will bring back 5 starters on offense and 7 starters on defense from our Top 5 squad last season. We will lose an incredible pair of defensive ends that were 3-year starters, I would say that is our most significant losses. We expect to be strong up front again with our two DTs returning (who will probably play more offense this season, as well)-- They are 6'5 285lbs and 6'3 250lbs and will both be JRs. Along with those two we bring back our MLB (SO last season), both outside LBers, one corner, and our strong safety. Offensively we will bring back 3 of our 5 starters on the OL, including our center who was a SO, and as mentioned--the two DTs might play some more offense. QB is back, who was a SO last year, and is having a great season on the basketball squad. We will need to replace some playmakers at WR and slot. Our WR last season was one of the better ones we've had, especially recently, and he had a huge sectional. We did have some playmakers at TE, WR, and slot on the JV team that I think will project well at the varsity level. Lastly, we lost our kicker and a school without soccer, sometimes that can be tricky to replace. All in all-- The work they've done since the end of the season/what they will do until August 23rd will determine how successful we are. As always, I can't wait for June. But we do get a sneak peek at them March 4th at our lift contest against BNL/WW.
  12. By the way its cut.. orange has to go south. I think brown and red could have an argument made either way... But-- if you just move Monrovia to the Indy sectional (orange).... then have Red go north, brown go south.. I think that's a solid way to cut it.
  13. That number could really alter 2A sectional assignments. Well--- crap. You're right!
  14. And hopefully they use some logic this time in the 2A South compared to last time. There are a couple of flip flops on your map that could take place that wouldn't affect much, but I can't see a way how this map could be altered that much. Only thing I can think might be an issue--- Monrovia or Triton Central would be going North on this map. I just don't think it makes sense to split all the Indy schools up like last time.
  15. There is precedent for this. They've used the larger FR class in the past. Why wouldn't they fill 1A first? I don't understand how they come up with how many in each class 1A-4A?
  16. Brownstown Central HS has a HS social studies opening and we are looking for assistant football coaches. If interested contact Reed May- rmay@btownccs.k12.in.us
  17. And to be fair--- there is a JR at Seymour right now who plays soccer for them. Went to BC through 8th grade, and I tried like heck to convince him to kick for us, but he wanted to play soccer, so he went there. I think that is the only time it's happened, I know we've had multiple swimmers that went there to compete in that sport.
  18. 🤣🤣 post of the year. It's just not a thing. I won't mention, again, the reasons why.
  19. Nice. Another one I was surprised didn't have it. You a Lowell guy?
