  1. Surprised J Smth has not donated the money to Luers to put in turf or given a large share to make it happen.
  2. I am not sure if this is still the case but the pay for coaches was similar for each school. Like many schools it takes the right coach in the right place at the right time. Niles and Berrien Springs are proving that right now. Kids want to play for a winner but that is not the only reason they pick a school You hear other rumors etc. but none of those is for this discussion.
  3. I think you hit it on the head. I had an assistant coach tell me about 3 years that the program was in disarray and they were making progress. Well the last 3 years have been anything but successful and the fact this year after week 3 they have not scored more than 7 points what does that tell you.
  4. Adams has been a situation of why not more successful through the years since the 70's. They have had their moments but never built on it consistently. I know a few current Adams parents that have not been happy with the direction of the program but have kept their child in it for the lack of anything better. There is a new corporation AD for athletics but for all grades K-12 which is different. Not sure what in roads may happens. Many intermediate school teams do not have a coach until just about the time their season starts. How do you change the mind set and attitude of a whole corporation athletically may define SB better than anything.
  5. There are a lot of grass fields in the same situation. Last week the radio announcers said there was a large puddle on the field at Mishawaka. Unless the IHSAA deems a field unplayable the games go on since not ever school or corporation can afford turf.
  6. I do not see it changing until one they shutter one or two high schools. They are losing students by the hundreds and the paper said they expect another 800 by next year. St school board is afraid to make hard decisions because they do not want another charter school to open. There are only opening because of the failures of past board to address the academic issues of each building. And all of the money in the world is not going change the academic side of things
  7. Friday, Oct. 22 Adams at Goshen, 7 pm Riley at Kankakee Valley, 7:30 pm St. Joseph at Logansport, 7 pm Plymouth at New Prairie, 7:30 pm Culver Academy at Clay, 7 pm Lakeland at Glenn, 7 pm West Noble at Jimtown, 7 pm Marian at Washington, 7 pm Bremen at Manchester, 7:30 pm
  8. Sad state of SB football - all 4 South Bend schools got shut out according to the sports tonight by a large margin.
  9. Marian 16 St Joe 6 Not what many expected. SJ defense played tough all night. Their offense is almost non existent. There is no identity. Marian had 3 turnovers and another TD called back due to a penalty.
  10. Thought a lot at stake tonight but so little commenting
  11. Kind of surprised more tickets have not been sold or even a sell out by now
  12. Jimtown should beat Riley especially after what they did to Adams Last week Wash - Glenn sort of toss up since have not seen one and the other has had covid issues during the year The former Glenn QB at Rb could be interesting Penn should beat Adams and whatever gimmick Jones comes up with this week Bremen rolls over Clay Elk - NP both coming off big games last week. Who comes out ready to play will get it done. Maybe NP close The "Holy War" - Not sure what to think of the SJ offense after the last 5 weeks. Almost non-existent. Atkinson scares me since SJ has no one at his level of athletic talent. Last 5 years MHS has dominated and do not see that changing this year. (Wish I was wrong)
  13. Thanks for posting this as I was out of town and did not get to it. Holy War week - weather could be a downer on Friday but won't matter
  14. Do you think they would be one of the worst if you took out St X and Cathedral? I am surprised they lost to Laporte and do not think they would do that now. Is there a change in the future or is this the cycle they appear to be in?
  15. I am not sure Penn is trending or the fact they have been playing a different level of competition. Having seen Penn this is not one of the biggest or athletic teams. The 2 running backs run hard and a lot of the plays went wide. Their QB did not impress me in the 1st half but did better in the 2nd. I am not sure how they beat Marian as bad as they did. NO is going to have to spread the ball around. They will key on Mungia. I suspect they will come ready to play to get another step in the NIC crown path.

Friday, Oct. 8 Bowman at Washington, 7:30 pm Bremen at Riley ©, 7 pm Elkhart at Marian ©, 7 pm Penn at New Prairie ©, 7:30 pm Adams at Jimtown, 7 pm Clay at Glenn ©, 7 pm St. Joseph at Culver Academy, 7:30 pm 2 games this weekend will be important to the big school side of the conference: Penn/New Prairie & Elkhart/Marian
  18. Sad that things like this happen but it is the reality of society today
  19. The breaking news said all people in the stadium were safe
  20. Our news just reported the game suspended due to shots outside the stadium. Anyone know any more?
  21. After seeing what NP and Elkhart did against SJ I would expect Penn to do much of the same thing. Might be interesting if NP finds a game and who it is. Washington got Kokomo and got throttled
  22. Friday, Oct. 1 LaVille at Glenn, 7 pm Marian at Angola, 7 pm Prairie Heights at Bremen, 7:30 pm Clay at Calumet, 8 pm Riley at New Prairie, 7:30 pm Tribune says NP looking for a game St. Joseph at Penn ©, 7 pm Washington at Jimtown ©, 7 pm
  23. Elkhart scores the 1st 37 before halftime goes on to beat St Joe 37-6 Penn 35 Marian 0 The demise of Penn in the N.I.C. is premature. After stuffing Elkhart and now Marian the Kingsmen appear to be in the driver's seat
  24. I see Jimtown easy Like Glenn with their QB NP seems to have more O based on results Marian has more athletes than Penn it appears but Penn's 1st 4 were so stiff does that cloud the situation? Outcomes say Marian but instinct says do not be surprised if Penn grinds it out Elkhart - based on their athletes only
