Big 8 will be down to 6 teams.
DumfriesYMCA replied to sr1's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I’m confused... if Jasper joined the PAC they would still play HH every year and it would be more meaningful as it would a conference game. Southridge has the potential to be dropped but in a format without tecumseh (7/7 division split) jasper would have 3 non conference games and they could easily fill that with a game with southridge. maybe I’m swinging and missing here...but it seems that jasper isn’t concerned with keeping their big games or rivalries, but rather keeping the relationships in check while they actively seek out leaving all those schools in particular....just a fail safe in case they don’t get into the SIAC don’t want to make any other school upset. Calling it as I see it -

I think the bottom line for if Tecumseh stays out of this is that Mt Vernon has to be in the smaller school even though HH is the next smallest....otherwise all that has been done is Gs joins the big 8 under the banner of the PAC -

I personally feel like the best option is without tecumseh. Put mt Vernon in the small school division and each team now has 6 division games and 3 non conference games. Lots of flexibility for teams to play teams they would like to keep on their schedule and keep some good rivalries. -

Just cruious. Will this have any impact on enrollment numbers? If you guys had a school within 15-20 minutes would you consider transferring your child to a different school? -

Either some very foul/scandalous was afoot over there recently......or you have a few “lemme talk to your manager” parents on the school board the worst part of it all, the kids are the ones who will get all the blowback from this. -

Selecting Mr. Football

Btw. If anyone is curious about the voting.... Class A – Kiser 10, Bell 0 Class 2A – Kiser 9, Bell 1 Class 3A – Bell 4, Kiser 1 Class 4A – Kiser 3, Bell 3 Class 5A – Kiser 3, Bell 3 Class 6A – Bell 6, Kiser 4 bell barely won his own 6A class. Bell is an outstanding athlete and Everyone nominated was deserving of being named Mr. Football.....but let’s not get this confused with coaches being biased. The voting clearly shows Kiser had the support from all divisions except 3A -

So lemme get this straight. If a small school coach votes for a small school player it’s biased...but if a big school coach votes for a big school player it’s not? -
Selecting Mr. Football
DumfriesYMCA replied to Staxawax's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Pffff. Jack Kiser absolutely deserved to be named Mr. Football. Kid never really left the field and played lights out. if there was ever a chance for a 1A player to win it, it was Jack.... No 3A player has ever been named Mr. Football I believe and I think only 1 2A has been named....that being Jaylon Smith who is a star Linebacker for the cowboys. 26/27 years of Mr football....2 were for small schools. 1 of those 2 has proven to be one of the best linebackers. gimme a break *steps down off soap box* sighs*. Some of y’all schools need to chill with being entitled to awards and what not. -

Will this affect all conference? Or will there be small PAC all conference and big PAC all conference? -

Will be interesting to see how this vote goes.....1 of 2 things will happen 1) this thread blows up because it was passed and we debate this for the next 5 years 2) we come back next year for the 6th year in a row I believe and talk about if it will ever happen -

Depending on when T32s oldest child first started TYFL, T32 has probably seen 90% of the kids to play for GS over the last 10-15 years at all levels. Sure might be hard to imagine but if anyone knows how success in the younger levels translates to Friday nights it’s him. Shoot, I ask T32 sometimes how my own brother is doing since I moved away 😂 -

I think most people here can agree that GS has a great community backing of its program. Without that support the team would never have made it this far and the support is one of the reasons Hart decided to take the GS job and more importantly KEEP the GS job. From everything I have read in papers and heard, he absolutely loves the community. -

I think GS will be great through the 2022 season...essentially all of Allen’s high school career and then another year after that because I think the class under Allen’s (current 8th graders) are tough as nails and show lots of promise. After that, I have no clue lol -

What’s bad is I should have known considering my brother is the year below brady, playing linebacker. So it’s not like I haven’t seen him play before lol. I never heard that about coach hart. That is really cool that he went to the seniors. Just another reason Coach Hart has the complete support of the Gibson Southern community. Everyone supports him as for Colson, I heard he wasn’t playing. Was going to focus on baseball -

Personally, at least from what I have seen, I have noticed that a lot of kids get their license as soon as they possibly can when they may not be ready for it. I think there is incredible pressure these days for a kid to have their license by the time they turn 16. If it’s not after school obligations they have, it’s a job they have to travel to. Besides all of this, it’s looked down upon to ride the bus as an upperclassmen or not have a car already. Bottomline, I just can’t help but think we are rushing many of these young kids into responsibilities they are not fully ready for....that’s not to say some of them are not ready, as I have seen plenty of kids more responsible than young adults my age. In no way am I saying any of these tragic deaths are a result of this, I’m only saying we, as a whole, should look to understand that not everyone matures the same and let these kids know they don’t have to get their license at the youngest possible age. It’s okay if they wait until 16 to get their permit and it’s okay if they get their probationary license at 18. -

I heard through the grapevine that both teams have D1 prospects on them. I live in Green Bay, Wisconsin but was hearing from friends and family that this game was going to be huge -

I’m honestly starting to like the idea of all teams dropping the idea of keeping everything they want and just move to a free for all. Make 2 new conferences for football that have no ties to each other...if you wish to keep an opponent work out a non conference game... I’m just in the mindset that if it can’t be done simply, start from scratch and make it simple -

I did some thumbing around on the internet because I was curious too and this is probably the best thing I have found regarding the concept of early recruiting https://www.ncsasports.org/recruiting/how-to-get-recruited/early-scholarship-offers -

DumfriesYMCA replied to coachburton's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Well I’m not exactly sure about the underclassmen you have worked with and work with but I think many familiar with Brady Allen understand he is likely the exception. i recall arguing with some fellow GS posters a few years ago when on came on here and said something along the lines of “Look for the name Brady Allen. I guarantee you he starts for Gibson Southern as a freshman” I recall arguing that there was no way Coach Hart starts a freshman QB when there are others who already know the system and will be upperclassmen. Off the top of my head I can only think of 4/5 players in the the past 8 years who started as freshman and all 4 were the class of 2016 playing their final high school season in 2015. None the less, when Brady got the nod (of which he had to battle an extra 3 weeks in the offseason to get that spot over Delong) it made the papers and news stations....since then the buzz has only grown after finishing the season with 2400 yards, 29 TDs vs 4 Ints along with 4 rushing TDs. Its rather hard to explain and compare Brady’s situation to what your players may be experiencing but I think Brady is an exception among typical experiences and truthfully I think there is just something special about this this young gunslinger. -

I have no idea good sir. I do know you can take as many unofficial visits as you are offered...official visits are limited to 5 and I believe only to seniors As for the offers, I’m just repeating what is being reported. Rivals & 24/7 sports say he got these offers -

Indiana was the first. Then Virginia tech the. Purdue and Cincy on the same day. Visits wise: Ohio state twice, Michigan St twice I believe, and then I think he attended some team camps for Other P5 conference teams. If if memory serves me right, there are a lot of P5 schools following him on twitter keeping tabs on him. I know there is a lot of chatter among some of the Notre Dame fan base about him and wanted the Irish to extend an offer but he is so young still that the best schools in the country will likely wait.
