Sometimes the player gets overlooked coming out of high school for whatever reasons then when they show what they can do at a mid-major level, they become a pretty sought-after recruit as a transfer. Whatever their perceived limitations might have been have either been overcome or proven to not be as important as they were once thought to be. Either way, if Steele has good success at Ball State, there will probably be opportunities for him to step up into a bigger program if he should desire to.

With how easy it has become to transfer, there's little reason for IU or Purdue to take a chance like this anymore. If either of them wants him now that he has shown himself to be a player at the MAC level, they can probably get him via transfer. Or he may land even better opportunities than those if he continues to look good. Any P5 school with an opening near the top of their RB depth chart will be combing through the top players at the G5 level for transfers.

It's the correct call. The Bremen player showed alot of character and even owned up to it after the game and didn't try to blame the officials (like others we know). It's just extremely rare to ever see it called, let alone on a play that literally determines which team goes to state and had no bearing on the outcome of the field goal. It's pretty ironic to hear complaining from the same fans that have reaped the rewards of many generous calls over the years but literally cry like babies every time they lose.

It's hard to tell what stays open late anymore because many restaurants are closing early due to lack of help now and don't stay open past 10, or even 8, even on a Friday/Saturday night. Evil Czech is a good suggestion but I believe their hours are only listed through 10 PM on the weekend. CJ's Pub in downtown South Bend has great burgers and is open until 3 AM but I'm not sure what time the grill closes down. With this being a home football weekend for Notre Dame, it's likely to be fairly busy on Friday night. The View is also a decent burger joint on the east side of the river and right across the way from all the new stuff in Howard Park. In MIshawaka, there is Hacienda which is where many people end up after football games. I've never been to this place before, but I have friends that like to go to The Smokestack Brew for live music on the weekends. I believe it's open until 2 AM. Phoenix Bar & Grill is a decent bar in downtown Mishawaka that's open late but I must confess I've only ever been there during lunch hours so I can't vouch for what it's like on the weekend. Up in the Toscana Park area there's a pizza place named Tony Sacco's that I think is open until midnight and Bar Louie that's open late. Going up further into Granger on 23, Barehands Brewery is open until midnight and is a good stop if you enjoy craft beer. Only other thing that comes to mind right now is Between the Buns in Osceola that's open late on the weekends.

Luers vs. Eastside Sectional 35 Final
XStar replied to 07_statechamp54's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I think @07_statechamp54 knows that points to the steady decline of performance as the season progressed. Week 1 - beat Carroll Week 9 - lose to Snider who lost to Carroll in week 2 Who knows how far this slide might take them? Perhaps they lose this week to Eastside or perhaps they lose next week at Eastbrook at JAS. We all know that no opponent makes it out of JAS alive. -
Remember that game well. For my money, that was the most electric I remember Ross-Ade in the Tiller era. Pretty sure it was homecoming and Mellencamp had a concert that night after the game in Elliott.

Call me whatever you want to. You can't address the content. You guys should just feel fortunate we don't have more in-depth conversations about Eastbrook football. Also, at least I contribute financially to keep this site up and running. Why is it that none of the Eastbrook fans here are listed as boosters? Is $30/year too much to ask so you can start a weekly thread for CIC football and boast about beating terrible teams and act as if other people are impressed by a "running clock streak" against a CIC schedule?
-
Yeah I imagine many Eastbrook fans don't like. And I'm fine with that as I wouldn't want to group myself with them anyway given how they represent themselves. Now, I hope you are actually done with me like you say since you don't want to deal with facts. You just want to label me because you don't like the facts.
-
I have no reason to dislike Eastbrook other than the way they represent themselves so if you think I'm "trolling" by stating the facts I have, so be it. Notice that you never really debate what I've said, you just don't like that someone said it. I've actually had to cheer for them a number of times in spite of these things. It doesn't change reality though just because you don't like it. But instead of reacting to your own fans acting like they do, you get upset when someone else responds in kind with facts.

The next game Eastbrook loses where their fans come on here and just admit they lost to a better team will be a first. Here's a post during the 2019 state championship game they lost 44-7 where they were blaming officials. Of course, when they get a "roughing the holder" penalty at home that literally turns a semi-state loss to Bremen into a semi-state win for Eastbrook, you don't hear a peep about officiating. Or when Andrean is denied an onside kick at "JAS" they legitimately recovered late in another semi-state contest, no questioning the officiating then either. Just when they get it handed to them by multiple touchdowns, it's all on the officiating.

I don't know. Prairie Heights presents their own unique challenge for the Knights. I wouldn't look past this Friday! I love the humble approach though. Some other fan bases, perhaps one in this very thread, could learn from that. I'll say what I've said all season long. Luers could lose if the weather takes out their passing game against the wrong opponent. If the weather takes out their passing game completely, they may find themselves in a situation where they are in a 50-50 sort of game against another top 2A because I don't think they'll dominate the line of scrimmage against everyone they run up against. At least they didn't last season when they got to Pioneer and Western Boone and those were both 50-50 type games. Luers is no doubt better than last year, imo. I suspect significantly better based on their regular season results but we'll see how that proves out in the tournament.

2021 State Championship Games

Could be. I just haven't seen them play at all so I won't comment on them. -
2021 State Championship Games
XStar replied to MarkCalaway's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
This seems accurate to me. The guy in this thread that is saying they are 2 TD's better than anyone else is listed as a Southridge fan. I'd say most of the comments I've read from GS fans are of the cautiously optimistic variety which is probably exactly how I'd be if I were a fan.....which I kind of am right now just because of Allen going to Purdue. If they walk through the tournament unchallenged, good for them. Wouldn't mind seeing it a bit. I just think they will be challenged if they face Danville and then Brebeuf. Still alot of games to be played to get to that point though. -
2021 State Championship Games
XStar replied to MarkCalaway's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I never said that it never happened. I just said it's rare. And this pretty much proves my point. No winners last 2 years. Only 4 representatives in the 30 championship games in the past 5 years. I'm pretty sure if I go back and look I'd find far more instances of the teams representing that area getting smacked around by Indy area teams in the tournament. Lastly, the only thing I said specifically about GS is that I hope you're right because I want to see Brady Allen do well. Not sure how I can be "flat WRONG" about stating what I hope. -
2021 State Championship Games
XStar replied to MarkCalaway's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
We will see. As a Purdue fan, I hope they are that dominant because that makes Brady Allen look all the better (and after today, a promising quarterback would be a welcome sight). That said, it's rare for a team from that part of the state to be competitive at the state level, let alone dominant. Usually when they have to play Indy-area teams, it's game over. -
Sectional 35 - 2021
XStar replied to roaringthunderdlr's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Have to go with Luers but Eastside played them as well as anyone in the playoffs last year. Haven't seen Eastside at all this year so I don't know how they compare to last year. I also think a bad-weather game could even the playing field for some teams against Luers. If that championship game comes to fruition it will certainly have my attention. -
2017 - Thought Eastbrook was easily best team in 2A. Thought they'd win state. They choked against Woodlan in semistate. 2018 - Thought they were about the 3rd best team in 2A (behind Western Boone and Tipton) and that turned out to be the case. Actually thought they blew a good opportunity in the state game with the onside kick to open the 2nd half. Just horrible. 2019 - Exceeded my expectations that year. That team maxed out their potential, if not exceeded it, and I was glad to see it. 2020 - After being assured by you that Eastbrook was way better than they were in 2019, I thought they'd at least win sectional since they went to state the year before. Needless to say, they fell short of expectations last year. 2021 - Just read my comments here. Said I thought they'd be undefeated through the regular season. Granted, it didn't really take Nostradamus to make that prediction if you looked at how terrible their schedule is, but that does mean that I've been on point so far this season. Yes, there was a time I'd get on the prediction threads and pick Eastbrook to lose to everyone like Elwood and other crap CIC teams because it was amusing to watch you lose your mind about it but I did not actually think they were going to lose those games. Did I "hope" they'd lose some of them they didn't? That's probably accurate. There's been numerous instances where I thought things were handled inappropriately within their athletic department and I tend not to cheer for people who I think do the wrong things.

Not sure but I hope Tipton because I think they might have a chance of going further.
