I had start a post about what you define as a successful program. I am also curious to what you would say is an unsuccessful one. First this this nothing to do what the kids that play. They all work tbier tailed off to win, but what keeps some programs down while other stay up.

Come on now...they were outstanding players. Nobody could even stop Thompson
I played against both of them in high school and as a CG kid growing up back then the hilljacks over there was one of our biggest rivals. Man those where some fun games

Excellent post and example (Martinsville with back to back Mr. Football award winners---Earl Haniford and Israel Thomspon). Thank you.
Both of them very over rated

Though about this the other day when I was reading some else. What would you call a successful program? Do you have to win state ever year or ever few years? Do you have to win sectionals on a regular basis? Or just have a win recorded more years then not?

I’m still curious to see how the vote broke down.
While my sources said it wasn’t particularly close, the Indy Star claimed it was nearly split.
If the latter is true I could see an above scenario playing itself out.
Of course I also heard that the HCC schools said, “don’t even approach us again until at least 2024”…which could be interpreted two ways…
From what I have heard from out in the world is that is was a 4/4 slit. Now what other info I have come across is that the night before it was 6/2 in favor they both get in. Not sure what might have happen over night to change 2 yes to no’s.

Yeah but take Columbus for example. There are two middle schools (Central and Northside). Neither of them are assigned to a particular high school. Most kids that attend Northside go to Columbus North but not all do. Just like most kids that go to Central go to Columbus East but not all do. Add in St. Peter’s Lutheran and St. Bartholomew Catholic which are K-8. Neither of them are assigned to a particular high school. So that’s where issues arise.
Good points I did not that their was Public middles school that did not have set high school they feed into

Doesn’t work when you have open enrollment.
I do understand open enrollment changes some stuff a little but I would say that 98% of most kids will go to the high school that is the same system as the middle school

If I am wrong please some one tell me. These are the numbers for 9thru12 of this year? If so I do not understand why they would count the seniors class. For the ishaa to assign rankings for what level the school is at for each sport. Would it not make more since to go 8true11 to get the numbers

After reading what some people have saying about CG not being the 5 best team. Got to think They might be right because all private schools like IMG or closer to home say any of private schools that when state year end and year out are not equal to Pulic schools. So being off this week and time to burn I went a look up the top 25 and see if they where Pulic or private.
I am just going to post the numbers do to I do. It whatnot type all the names out them all out but here the top 25 that where pubic schools
2. 5. 10. 11. 12. 15. 16. 18. 19. 20. 21. 22. 23. 24

I believe Carmel was Top 5 in 1986. And they weren't even the best team in the state. Take it with a grain of salt.
Ben Davis 1991? I thought they finished 1st that year.
Thank you for the info I kind remember the 91 team and why to young for the other one

Center Grove Is 5 in the final USAToday poll. I think this the highest any Indiana school has every been

All good reason for both

Once we get in to the playoffs. Should the running clock start once a team is up 35 even if it is still the first half

East Central vs. Ev Memorial is 3hr 45mins one way. Play it in Seymour. 1.5hr for EC 2.5 for Evansville Mem.
Idk. Just an idea.
And CG and BD are about 30 min so why should they both drive and hour or longer to a neutral site. Now if the ihsaa wanted to a cause by cause call on this I would think that would could work

Just wish we'd have neutral sites for regional and semi state, just like....... every other sport.
Why I hope they never why would I want to drive an hour or longer to a neutral site when it is a home game or I only would have to drive about 30 min tops

as my kids would say that is a boomer thing to say. When I assume you are are around my age we played all thier was was grass and by this time of year ever feild was a mess up, now with truff you can make the game better and take weather a little bit out of the equation for the game. It kind of like using map quest and print your driving directions still in stread of use gps on your phone.

I know this only effects a small about of teams but I have always hated this rule but it still has to be followed. Some times you have seniors that do not get to dress on what could be thier last game.

Over the weekend several schools had there cheer teams travel down to Disney for a national competition. How is this fair and equal that some can travel longer distance and other can’t
