  1. I tried merging separate topics about individuals who were either drafted or signed. I goofed. It changed the name of the original topic. @Boilernation Could you check to see if you can edit the Topic title, please do so and let me know if you cannot. Thanks edit: OK, I figured out how to edit the title. Let me know if you want a different title Boiler; it is your topic....hope I did not screw it up.
  2. It is a shame that smaller, locally owned places have been run out, not just in grocery stores, but think hardware, furniture, pet stores. Thankfully, restaurants still provide plenty of local options. As far as Kroger goes, I will say it is so worth it to me to pay an extra $9.95 to have them delivered, to simply avoid the chaos.
  3. That is likely a correct assumption. I know a number of people in other roles that get an extra prep because of the time commitment involved with the program or club. Student council reps, department chairs, other head coaches(not just football), association presidents, and marching band director Are just a few that come to mind.
  4. No need to be so sensitive there lol.....I was just stating that there is more to it than just the numbers we see, and things that contribute to it. I said small bump simply because the State limits just how much of a pay increase one receives because they have a Master’s degree. In no way, shape, or form did I even try to imply that was a reason for the entire difference in pay. Also, as I stated, every stipend is posted for the public to see. It has to be a part of every contract. I gave two examples after just spending 5 minutes looking.
  5. Just finished Season 5 of Fear........I like the mindset of focusing on the future; but the way this season ended was frustrating. I am not a fan of Ginny. I guess that means she is a great actress to actually hater her, right? It seems people are pretty tight lipped about what happens to Morgan. I think the show will struggle without him, but I don't see how he gets out of the spot he is in.
  6. You can go to the district sites to see what the stipends are exactly. They are part of every district contract, and are typically found under the Human Resources section. I looked up Pike's real quick, and $13,000 is the stipend for the Head coaches in Football, Boys' BBall, and Girls' BBall. Carmel's stipends are based on a percentage of the salary of a beginning teacher.
  7. Is Coach Moore still the head coach for the track team as well? I get that on the surface these look high. I think people need to consider that part of the pay is going to based on all that a coach earns as a teacher. A coach may have a Master's degree that gets a small bump in pay. Personal perspective on the coaching pay. years ago, I received a 1099 Miscellaneous form for my pay. So, I sat down and figured my mileage from the school I was in to the building I coached. Including weight training 3 days a week, I spent 185 days doing something with the football team. That included the Summer workouts as well. Since then, I have kept track, and can say when the Summer rules expanded, the pay for most did not. I do know some districts will compensate their coaches for the time they spend in the Summer. That may factor in as well. Bottom line; similar to what we have to tell the politicians when it comes to education; there is more to the story than just numbers.
  8. The questions I have are 1. Was there someone available that could help the team NOW? 2. Would Love have been around for the 2nd round pick? My thinking is the answer to both is yes. Based on the pick, there is something I wondered most of last season. The message is clear in my mind to Rodgers. You signed your last contract with this team. You won't be pushed out the door; you will play out this contract, but that is it. There were a couple games early last season that made me wonder if LaFleur and Rodgers were ever really on the same page. There were a couple of moments in multiple games with the offense coming off the field; the look on both of their faces was just odd. LaFleur looked pissed, and A A Ron looked bored; had that Cutler face....Bears fans know what I mean. 😄 I remember thinking then this is not going to end well. Aaron was able to get rid of one coach; he is at the point in his career that it will NOT happen again. So, that leads me to wonder just how motivated will Aaron be this season, or even next.
  9. He still sounds fantastic.....could stand to have the camera a little further back though lol....enjoy https://youtu.be/vVzx-VO0RpI
  10. Just curious.......As an official, how much of a nightmare would scheduling of officials be if the football season shifted to a Spring season?
  11. I am not a fan of the shift either. It literally leaves little time for an off season for the following year.
  12. https://nypost.com/2020/04/20/can-the-coronavirus-be-spread-through-farts/?fbclid=IwAR1uKUx7-RyAPtu25dFpC3V9DadmT_TdC43-El2Eds_v54Klc0egYAvLja4
  13. Yeah, it is on prime, but like you, I am not paying for it.
  14. Not yet, the server I have been accessing to watch is currently down. I am surprised the series is not offered by AMC in the on demand app.
  15. I would agree that he changed the industry. One event points to that fact. The NBA has always been suspect in that the great players have long been shown a level of favoritism in getting calls. But one incident shifted the entire focus. Reggie Miller and MJ threw punches (did not really connect), but it was the shift to the era of if you swing, you sit. They were both suspended a game. I believe the Bulls were to be in Phoenix for the game MJ was out. The game was a sellout, but when word was published that Jordan would not play, refund requests came flying in. Stern even said the entertainment value of the league is too valuable. He placed more weight on that than he did competition. Jordan never even fouled out of a game after that. Don't get me wrong. I was never a Jordan or Bulls fan. Seeing what Stern's mindset has done to a franchise like the Pacers sickens me. There are still remnants of it to this day. I will never deny that Jordan is the GOAT. There is no question about that. But yes, he changed the industry.
  16. I giuess I did not state that very well. That was what I meant to say 😄
  17. I know, I know, I know......I remember seeing it. It was also the last team to beat UCLA before the streak started. Bill Walton says that game STILL haunts him. I remember that the UCLA ND game was always a big rivalry game back then. That was the same year though that a phantom foul called against Steve Downing from IU on Walton in the tournament kept them on track for the title streak, right?
  18. I get all that, and sure there are inherent risks involved in a number of things in life. But this one is different. We are talking about putting people deliberately at risk here. We shut things down to avoid a number of things; to keep from overtaxing our hospitals, and to prevent vulnerable people from getting this and dying. It seems those are no longer concerns in the push to re open things. I agree that nobody wants people to die as a result; but it's no longer a focal point among the crowds that are protesting. I don't want to sound like a naysayer here, and I really do hope everything gets started on time this Fall; The realist in me can see it likely won't though.
  19. I hope we can see things moving soon too; but how soon is too soon????? I am not as optimistic as some on here are though. As Bob said, we have an ethical dilemma we have to face up to here. What is the death toll that becomes an acceptable thing, to where we say ok; in the long run, it was a good move to lift the restrictions? Along those lines; what number makes us say, well, we certainly made the wrong move there?
  20. I could not have stated it better IO as far as current female voices go. Mine is Lady Antebellum. Hillary Scott has an amazing voice. A couple of their songs are typical pop/country; cheesy, but her vocals make them worth listening to. Need You Now comes to mind immediately. As good as she is, the dude is just average.....sounds too much like so many other male singers in current Country. That said, their tribute to Kenny Rogers is phenomenal. enjoy
  21. Similar topic. I did not create a separate one, but thought this would fit in well. We have mentioned Jim Morrison, Chris Cornell came up here, but they are in that category of gone too soon. other frontmen gone too soon I would have loved to see what Queen would have done, but part of me feels what we saw from Freddie at Live Aid was mainly because he knew his time was short. Kurt Cobain....incredible poet, lacked an on stage presence, but it fed the persona or vibe of Nirvana As I said above Chris Cornell, what a phenomenal talent. The possibilities were endless for him.Bon Scott....enough said Michael Hutchence...just a sad and tragic story for someone so talented. others? Also, I was trying to think of females who were the front “person”. Stevie Nicks comes to mind. And even though Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie were lead vocals on several songs, Stevie’s personality was the dominant one for the group. I cannot wait for a movie to come out about Fleetwood Mac. If you have not seen it, it very well may be the best Behind the Music episodes on VH 1. Does Ann Wilson count? I know she and Nancy are always spoken of together. But Ann does all the lead vocals. I did a quick google search for female rock singers, and most of them have what I referred to as support bands, and really were not the front person of a group....if that makes sense. And the ones that were, like Belinda Carlisle of the Go Gos 🤪😍, I don’t think they have the staying power of any of the bands we have mentioned.
  22. Maybe it is just our age, but what is noticeable is there is not a group from the last 20 years that has someone worthy of being in this conversation. IO, I agree with the comments about the Doors. LA Woman is one for me as well, but Break on Through is my top Doors tune. As far as the Stones....Gimme Shelter, hands down.....CRANK IT UP, and play it often. It is all of them at their absolute best, including Keith’s guitar work. Sadly though, hearing them play it over the last 30 years, it does lose the magic the original has. I was pumped for the Steel Wheels tour in 1989, and was not disappointed.
