  1. Seems Marshall took a bit too much time celebrating beating Notre Dame....lost to Bowling Green in OT.
  2. Fun day so far. 🙂 Penn State goes into Jordan Hare Stadium and dominates Auburn. Penn State might be really good folks. But Auburn is not really good, so who knows? If you have not seen the end of the App State Troy game, you need to see this https://www.espn.com/college-football/recap?gameId=401426333 Fox tried HARD to hype the OU Nebraska game, to no avail though. It was a good first series though lol Northwestern loses to a team that lost to the nuns of Incarnate Word in week one. The nuns put up 64 points on the Salukis. I have known just how tough and mean some nuns are, but damn. lol That is a HORRIBLE loss for NU. Oregon pounds number 12 BYU
  3. Some positives....I love the short passing game and the screen game. The run game was going well. Defense was getting pressure late with just the front 4 with no blitzes; that is a critical part of any defense. negatives....way to many big plays given up on defense. Still running blitzes and stunts that take too long and are ineffective. Crazy last couple of plays. Nice to get a W
  4. Rees was NOT happy with his QB https://www.barstoolsports.com/blog/3433764/do-your-fucking-job-tommy-rees-ripping-notre-dame-qb-drew-pyne-perfectly-sums-up-the-state-of-the-fighting-irish?fbclid=IwAR2nrVPiv4ucYxtmZtHsGpjeTE3lvFsp7gYpoOCstKKBjFfuoADWugAMCkU
  5. Hoosiers escape with a win. They had no business winning the game, but kept playing through the mistakes. 2 VERY timely turnovers were HUGE in this. Bazelak and the receivers are just not on the same page; so many misses, and several were just not even close. The offense was able to move the ball well at times, just not consistently. Defense struggled for most of the game, and gave up too many big plays. That said, they are half way to being bowl eligible 🙂
  6. I agree, but with what Kelly pulled, the fake accent, the dance video thing with the recruit......who chose Alabama........just off to a bad start. Those fans turn probably as quick as anyone. Les Miles is a prime example. A National title and another appearance in the championship game. They were consistently competing for division titles; hit a rough spot in 13 and went downhill from there. Tempt, what year was it that the Michigan rumors came out? I am thinking it was about that same time. But the fans grew impatoient quickly....asked what the buyout was and paid it for the school. I am willing to bet some of those people are wishing they had those days back.
  7. The helmet of the player must be even with the waistline/pants of the center. I know the image is from college, but this is a good visual of that.
  8. Fickell was focused on the CFP when this went down. UC leaders knew it and finalized a deal that had been in the works to bump his pay to $5 Million a year. He was out. He was my first thought, but heard UC was serious about keeping him. As far as some of the other names, let's keep in mind the challenge of ND that many of those big names never had to deal with in other programs; admission standards. Coaches can recruit and even offer, but the kids have to be accepted. One thing you have not heard in YEARS now is ND having kids come in who were at risk of not being eligible. There have been a few who have left because they could not keep up academically, but none have come in with those challenges. Looking at some current offers, it does look like they have some conditional ones.......they offer, but for the offer to stick, kids need to get better in the classroom. I know for a fact those types of offers are out there. And for kids with multiple offers, some of the schools offering have little to no issue with where the kids are now academically. So there is a LOT more to this than just bringing in a big name. I am willing to bet a number of guys said no for that reason. Also, knowing that Freeman is close to Day and Fickell, they both likely told Swarbick he already has his guy in the program. I also know Rees was interviewed. he met with players after finding out he was not the guy. That meeting is actually on video.
  9. Irish are wearing the green jerseys for the Cal game....not a fan of that choice. Save them for a rivalry game.
  10. I have been hopeful that Amari would do well in Green Bay. His rookie year as a returner was a bit rough. he did not get many reps. he was targeted just 8 times. Maybe something shows up in film or on the practice field??? When they played KC and had him playing slot and ran the ball with him, I thought it was a good look. He is a strong kid and has good speed. It was a new wrinkle. But they did not run anything like it in game 1. Listening to this, I am guessing he does not get many looks now. One thing we have learned about A A Ron is he always chooses his words carefully. Often times there is more in what he does NOT say than there is in what he does say. Facial expressions are also a big factor in how he communicates. That said, there seems to be a problem between him and Amari. I have never been a fan of airing stuff in public if there are issues.
  11. Happy that he is doing well, but just cannot be for osu. 🙂
  12. One thing that has not been mentioned so far; there have been some huge mistakes defensively. Too many blown coverages, blitzes coming from guys that are just too far away. I still have the visual of the safety blitz against OSU and Stroud finding a wide open receiver where a safety would be.......and the blitz not even coming close. The ball was gone by the time the safety even got to the LOS. Soooo it got me thinkin......I remember the moment when the announcers said that Al Golden had so many years of NFL experience. My first thought was ohhh shit, that makes sense. The last Coordinator they had with a lot of NFL experience did not do very well and was fired in the middle of his 3rd season. Prior to that season, our staff went to the coaching clinic at Notre Dame. It is part of the Spring game weekend. We got there Friday, but Thursday night, they have round table sessions with various coaches. So we missed out on that. Our DC and I went to one session, "3rd Down Pressures". Brian Van Gorder was the presenter. I never came away from a session at any clinic in my 30 years feeling more confused about anything. I would have been better off sitting in a class where the teacher spoke Greek, and come away with a better understanding of what I sat through. There were literally 27 different "packages" for 3rd down. My friend and I looked at each other and thought, this is insane. We were not the only ones.....every coach that walked out at the end with us had the same questions....what in THE hell what was that? First thing that came up after he was fired was the same thing we said.......that system is WAAAAAAAYYYYYY too complicated; Kelly said, we need to simplify some things and let our athletes be athletes. Keep in mind Kelly's background is defense. And this was when he had some athletes and great players......in the Jaylon Smith era. Soooooo, I am thinking again; kids look lost in coverage. The stunts are ineffective, you will NOT out scheme anyone on this level. Defense at this level boils down to our jimmy's and joe's just being better than yours.
  13. This guy, even though he is a Texans fan, is hilarious.
  14. The 70's were pretty good too for both IU and ND.
  15. More than likely.........some things need to change quickly with him and his game planning. If Mayer has less than 10 passes to him, the problem grows for Rees.
  16. It's actually a NYC term; referred to fans who did not go to the school who travelled by train regularly from there to South Bend to see them play.
  17. There is a special connection between the school and Chicago. Don't forget though the West Point cheating scandal helped Leahy significantly in the 40's. That really is what moved the program to another level.
  18. As disappointed as I am in the start, I did chuckle at this one
  19. Props to the guy for owning it. Now with Pyne at QB, let's see if things change
  20. I agree that Marshall is good. Coach Huff has worked hard on the field and in the recruiting phase. Several names that played a significant role Saturday are on this list. If he can sustain this for multiple seasons before being plucked by another program, they will get some attention. https://247sports.com/college/marshall/Season/2022-Football/TransferPortal/?institutionkey=24052
  21. On a different note; I thought this looked bad when he came off the field. I do not wish this on any player. I wish him a speedy recovery.
  22. Even as a fan, I had to laugh at this one
  23. Albert Pujols has ALWAYS been a class act.
  24. This one was brutal. Way too many mistakes. How Jefferson was able to be so open most of the game is nuts. Rodgers only having Cobb as a veteran receiver hurt, but they tried throwing WAY too much. Jones was gashing them on the run. If Watson catches the ball on the opening drive, it may be a different game. That said, Green Bay has just not been good for several years now with the deep passing game. Rodgers struggles adapting to new receivers. That has always been the case. A veteran receiver though would know what to do when plays break down. They are not on the same page, and there is no excuse for that. They have been practicing for 6 weeks now. And Cobb just cannot get separation any more. The TE position gets the first completion in the 4th quarter? No screen game? The Vikings definitely came well prepared to play. Props to them for that.
