  1. I agree completely. It’s a common theme this weekend in Louisiana and the sports world in general. Politicians need to stay out of things like this. I believe micromanaging is the term.
  2. Not sure exactly how other states operate, but it seems that IU has itself on this path now. With support from President Whitten, total oversight has been given to the Governor as of this last session at the Statehouse. Prior to that, the Governor was limited to just appointing a handful of people as Trsutees. Now he gets to appoint all of them, which means he also has more of a say in the day to day operations of the school. Kind of sounds like Louisiana has the same type of thing with LSU.
  3. His first year, 2022, they finished the regular season 9-3 (6-2 in the conference). They lost to Georgia in the SEC title game 50-30. Blew Purdue out 63-7 in the Citrus Bowl.
  4. I am picking a dark horse for LSU......Jon Sumrall. Doing a great job with Tulane, and did well at Troy. Not a huge risk at this point for LSU considering the current state of the program.
  5. Wow, you fellas have been busy here today. 3 unread pages for me on this topic. Good times. πŸ˜†
  6. Interesting question. I think he is in a tough spot. He is 64 years old. Find a program that will invest to the extent that Indiana has, and maybe he can get it going. Regardless of the program, it's a risk hiring someone at 64. Is he in it for a long haul? Or just the next couple of years? He has baggage I am not sure he can escape. No chance an SEC school hires him. The biggest issue he has was that he left ND because it was too difficult to recruit to the point the program could compete for National championships and then leaves for LSU and does worse than he did at Notre Dame; at the same time his replacement has ND competing for National championships. I can see him ending up somewhere east. he is a Boston native and may be looking in that area. Last issue is does he want to keep coaching? His severance deal was pretty sweet.
  7. At the school I was referring to, the band program put up more money than athletics to have the first artificial turf installed in this area. The band director took a level of pride in being disruptive to the football practices by kicking them off the field so the band could practice. My first year here, the AD was telling our coach what the plan was for start time and halftime. he was a prick about in telling us the game was not going to start on time. The officials for that night did not throw the flag at 7 pm.
  8. Yep.......A&M might get away with a loss in the SEC title game to not effect Notre Dame, but Miami has to win out. Weird that Notre Dame is having to root for Miami. I do agree the Irish pass the eye test. Their run game alone is elite, but the ranking is what hurts them now.
  9. Maryland is teetering on imploding. It may be that much at halftime.
  10. He sure has the attention of the Governor of a certain peninsula in the US who has been posting on social media a lot about him. lol
  11. Is there a 5th conference? I know there used to be just a couple years ago when the PAC 12 was still a thing, but I keep hearing and seeing Power 4 (B1G, SEC, ACC, and Big XII). I was thinking the Mountain West was part of the group of 5??
  12. I can see that too....but I was thinkin the royal blue band further south. πŸ˜„
  13. Bet I can guess who that was. πŸ˜„ Somewhere just west of 69??? It at least sounds like it could have been there.
  14. I posted the same thought in the ND thread last week. They may have maxed out at 12. What could hurt them is a team from the group of 5 as well. I am not sure you will see much more movement out of the top 10. Most likely teams will shifft a bit, but even an IU loss to osu would not drop them out of the top 10, and vice versa. If A&M and Bama play for the conference title, or even if Georgia is one of the finalists, I don't see any of them moving much. Notre Dame is in a similar spot that Bama was last year.
  15. It will be funny to see these guys get each other's jobs lol
  16. I remember hearing something about this while he was at UC, but had forgotten until it showed up today.
  17. He started off so well, it's mind boggling to see that it ended this way.
  18. Have to admit that I went to bed at halftime. the game was shaping up to be way too similar to the Dallas game. I was not going to lose sleep over another one of those. I was completely shocked when I woke up this morning to see the score. The stats from the 2nd half are pretty impressive. Kraft was playing well in the 1st half and appeared to continue that throughout the game.
  19. I was texting a brother last night saying we really should root for LSU every once in a while. If we get too greedy and have too much fun watching them lose, they are just gonna fire the guy; and then there would be less fun to be had.
  20. WAY too young for this
  21. That was a helluva half of football; in all phases of the game too.
