Really cool tribute to Hank Aaron prior to the start of the all star game in Atlanta

This is unfortunate https://247sports.com/college/indiana/article/indiana-basketball-luke-goode-waiver-denied-ncaa-251777928/?fbclid=IwQ0xDSwLjpj1leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHmLppD2nL-k3JuEnXYsU0RBAevCUR5megeS8ii5rgUKVakGscfRI10uvJXrc_aem_lrIdyzHVkgz03FcuSQZku

Isn't it just the same motion this thing makes?

I would agree it's a long shot. The one city I was surprised to see mentioned was Atlanta. You would think a 2 time failure, 1st with the Flames and then with the Thrashers, they would be out. As far as proximity goes, Let's keep in mind that one of the newer franchises in the league is in Columbus. I would add that the proximity thing is not a factor for the NFL. I think what the NHL and the NBA even need to do is look at how conferences are divided. It is more of a thing for the NHL when you look at the travel distances for Western Conferences teams that reach the Stanley Cup Finals. They really should look at divisional setup like what MLB and the NFL do. People might complain about traditional match ups, but the last adjustment to divisions left just 1 of the Original 6 in the Western Conference.

Buuuuut, Victory Field was built keeping the possibility of expansion open. 🙂

Definitely a lot of history in the franchise. But I am not so sure it would suffer much at all though with a pro team in Indy. The only possible chance of that would be if the Komets were affiliated with a particular team. But even then, the Chicago wolves are a farm team of the Canucks, and even with a heated rivalry like the nucks and the Hawks had, the Wolves still do well for a minor league team.

This topic has come up from time to time as far back as when I was 13-14 years old.....and that was a LONG time ago. The talk heated up after the Racers folded. The Racers consistently had the top attendance numbers in the WHA. It was starting to look real after that point. The DeBartolo family built the 4 suburban mall in Indy. They also owned the Pittsburgh Penguins. To test the water a bit, they played a pre season game at Market Square. The place was packed. I am guessing that local officials in Pittsburgh took notice. There is no timeline from the league as far as expansion goes, and there is another obstacle. While Gainbridge Fieldhouse is designed to have an ice rink, it eliminates too many seats; to the point that capacity is just under 11,700. My guess is the league will have a minimum required capacity for expansion teams a few thousand higher than that. Fun to speculate though. https://fox59.com/sports/report-indianapolis-interested-in-nhl-expansion-team/

Interesting summary of the NFL Collusion case. Curious to see what the result will be. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1CHVsLR2rr/

Speaking of Olympic sports. The NCAA is hoping to get some guarantees from NCAA schools to continue funding them. https://www.wishtv.com/news/funding-of-olympic-sports-a-bargaining-chip-as-ncaa-seeks-antitrust-help-ap-sources-say/?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_WISH-TV&fbclid=IwY2xjawLKl7lleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBicmlkETFkS1o1Nng3RXZuU1djV0t6AR7F7UlgvljLyV2rwkkcO98MAjaSb4zEJymMquBODuVVIvSpCO_q0D9fRKOmww_aem_Kj4GfGL52TuuMoTGx16sGg

Seems like this is something the NCAA could have easily handled, and could even get under control. Why they choose to do nothing about this is mind boggling. Are the NCAA leaders just resigned to the fact that they will no longer be the governing body for at the very least football? https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/behind-the-wisconsin-v-miami-tampering-lawsuit-over-transfer-db-xavier-lucas-that-was-months-in-the-making/

Kind of an ominous prediction. No way did I see it playing out this way, or even this soon. The Pacers had game 4 stolen from them. The league wanted a 7 game series. Had they been allowed to just play it out, the Pacers would have been up 3-1. Good chance they still lose the way they did in game 5. But imagine if game 6 were the game to win the title. But nope. Instead of Tyrese getting a title and resting what was a more serious injury than anyone really knew, he is now going to miss all or most of the upcoming season and the team is hit hard with losing him. Nice job Adam Silver.

Have to admit I had doubts going into last night's game. Incredible performance; would have loved to been in the building for the full experience.

There is a clip on facebook of John Smoltz being interviewed about the one hitter he hated facing. he stated a couple stats Gwynn had against him that were really impressive.

Typical NBA bullshit that the Pacers have had to deal with for decades now. The frustrating part is just blatant it has become. The storyline of 2 small market teams was good enough to just let it play out. The NBA never learned from the other sports that small market teams succeeding is a positive thing. One team being a HUGE underdog was a big story as well. I always have been and always will be a Pacers fan. But I root for them now more out of spite for the rest of the league and those who run it. What is going to really suck is that this team has one more season to win a title. They will likely come up short again. And while Carlisle MIGHT be safe in his job, the roster is likely going to be blown up and shift to a rebuild rather than adding players to overcome the next step. Even adding players and letting others go will definitely have an impact on the team chemistry. I love this team and the current roster. What they have done since January has been special. But these guys are also quality guys in and around the community. Such a shame that such a remarkable run had to crash and burn the way it has. I know OKC is the better team, but there is ZERO doubt the series should be 3-1 Pacers going into last night’s game, just like the series against Boston last year should have been 3-1 Pacers.

In a move to better plan trips across the ocean, F1 is shifting its schedule. Going into the Monaco race, it was known that race was moving to June next year. A plan was to run more than 1 race in North America without having to pond hop, so scheduling the Canadian Grand Prix around the time of the race in Miami, just two days ago, F1 announced the Canadian race will be May 24th, 2026. It’s never been a big deal to race in Europe on that 4th Sunday in May because of the time difference. But with a 2:00 start time, it will overlap the Indy 500. ooops It will likely be something that is fixed soon, or at the latest after that race. https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Articles/2025/06/10/f1-sets-up-indy-500-clash-with-2026-schedule/
