  1. and no pre season games
  2. Schefter hinted at the idea that the Cowboys are letting McCarthy go. ESPN ran with it saying the Cowboys are letting him go. He said McCarthy is likely the favorite for the Bears job too. What is odd is that they let him go now as positions are being filled. They also missed the window to talk to Ben Johnson as they now have to wait until his season is over. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/43398409/source-mike-mccarthy-not-expected-return-cowboys-coach
  3. Figured enough teams are out at this point, we might as well shift to the offseason. Listening to Schefter on the PMS.....Tom Brady is on the broadcast of the Lions game this week. Ben Johnson is a candidate for multiple jobs including Las Vegas. I know there are restrictions on what Brady can do as far as talking to players and coaches going into a game. Schefter says he does not think Brady will do anything to violate any NFL policy....and I am thinking the hell he won't. He along with the Patriots have been caught and punished for cheating. He would not bat an eye in finding a way to talk to Ben Johnson. The conversation is also including how much Brady would be able to talk about Johnson throughout the game and that would all get back to Johnson. HUGE conflict of interest. Brady should not be in the booth at this point. The NFL needs to step up and say you are either an owner or part of the media, but you cannot do both. Schefter did add at the end that it may end up that Brady cannot fulfill his contract obligation with Fox.
  4. For a number of years, when measuring coaching success making the playoffs was a plus. Since the latest expansion to the playoffs, I am not so sure it is what it once was. The Steelers lost their last 4 regular season games and made the playoffs.....and lost. Even before this expansion, the Eagles get rid of Andy Reid. And after all their success, Bill Bellichick is fired in New England. The season is too long. Watching the games this weekend, there were a LOT of injuries. The playoffs seem to have become a battle of attrition. Just a couple thoughts.
  5. While I agree, remember that their seeds were 7 and 8 and not their ranking. As I have said many times, that issue needs to be cleaned up.
  6. He has a better deal in South Bend; even signing an extension through the 2030 season....I would doubt that he even interviews. https://www.si.com/college/notredame/football/marcus-freeman-long-term-extension-notre-dame
  7. I don't believe anyone has claimed there is an on field advantage. That said, think about how everyone at that network was going on and on about Alabama getting in. Now think, ESPN's contract to show SEC games is a whopping $5 BILLION. That means they are paying the conference $300 Mill a year. Compare that to CBS who was paying just $55 Mill a year to the conference. I don't want to say it's a factor, but the message going into the playoff was VERY clear about who should get in. Bottom line is that bias is just annoying. The lovefest/man crush that Jim Nantz had with Tom Brady was f'ing annoying, as it is now with Mahomes. Herbstreit was bad throughout that semifinal game. If I want to get that bias, I will listen on the radio to the team's broadcast.
  8. What a shit game to watch. From the very beginning, it was frustrating. How all those fucking clowns on TV could say there was no clear possession on the fumble of the opening kickoff is beyond me.....and then to have the play stand? It was so clear on the overhead view that Nixon had the ball on his bac; 2 arms around it while a Philly player had one hand reaching for it. Put Green Bay behind the 8 ball from the start. Too many offensive mistakes. Penalties hurt. Odd the one was called for the push on Barkley as he was out of bounds. No call on Nixon being torpedoed at the knees by the Philly punter when he was clearly out of bounds. And then no interference call on the last interception? Dumbass Brady said there was no call because it was underthrown. I was never a Brady fan when he played, and his bias shows in the booth. Even he admitted at the end he would not have shown as much class as Barkley did by sliding at the end. And injuries......holy shit. Over all, the defense played well. They really contained an explosive offense. But the team was out of sync all day. When the defense played well, the offense could not get going. Once the offense started going, the defense could not get a stop.
  9. Hoping they do the one channel like last year. The view was from behind the offense, no play by play but you could hear the PA announcer.
  10. Kinda thought the differences were obvious. Corso does not do color commentary on games. He is hardly even on the pregame show any more. People can choose to not watch the pregame shows, but if you choose to watch the games, you are stuck with Herbstreit.
  11. I am sure Ohio State will be favored but I think Notre Dame matches up very well with them.
  12. lol
  13. He is soooo missed. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/19HR6CLsjZ/
  14. The opening stop and drive by Ohio State in the opening series made it look like this was going to be a route. Ewers looked really bad early and seems to have settled down. I think a couple good hits on his running plays may have helped. He has had a couple really nice throws but has a few really bad ones too. He is playing better than Howard though. Both QB's have kept this game close. And of course as I am typing this, OSU scores on a screen and catches the Texas defense way out of position. Could be a critical play in the game for OSU as they had that score at the end of the half and receiving the opening kick of the 2nd half.
  15. The missed holding by the wr on a big play was on that same drive.
  16. I know a few people will be a little tired tomorrow at work lol What a game though.
  17. Followed by that TD throw....damn I am too old for this. Ok, so the DB fell down...lol
  18. Gift drive for Penn State. And just how in the hell does the same officiating crew that had the Georgia Notre Dame game have this game as well?
  19. Horrible communication on defense. WAY too many crossing routes are coming wide open, and several missed tackles. And what the hell was Leonard looking at? Even if 39 does not pick that, the DB sure would have.
  20. Nice drive for the lead, and man, what a run to finish it.
  21. Wish they would have planned a series for him as part of the normal game plan. Show something they have not seen yet.
  22. And just like that, we are tied folks. Great drive to start the half.
  23. Decent drive to finish the half; would have liked a TD, but the Irish get the ball to start the half. I like having Angeli in, don't like that Leonard got hurt, but Angeli is a much better passer.
  24. Getting whipped at the LOS on both sides of the ball.
  25. Early impression. If the Irish have to depend on Leonard and the passing game, they are in trouble. I had actually texted that to friends before that last series even started.
