  1. There are currently over 2,000 players in the portal. Rosters are going to be cut to 105 players for the upcoming season. The current limit is 120. How many players end up with nowhere to go? One interesting thing that came up last night was the OSU backup QB has entered, but still on the team. The decision to keep a player on the team or not is up to the schools......seemed a bit odd to me.
  2. Not a fan of becoming this dependent on the portal for a QB. Jackson deserves a shot as a starter. They NEED to focus on building/improving the o line and run game.
  3. Going back to the 2nd half of the Michigan game, IU's O Line showed they could not handle additional pressure. OSU put a lot of pressure on Rourke most of that game, and Notre Dame did the same. Missed tackles haunted them as well; an issue they had not had for quite a while now reappeared. Stupid penalties hurt as well, although the one on the IU sideline SHOULD have been offsetting.
  4. I have been saying 8 teams is enough for years now. What I find funny is that the SEC fans will bitch no matter what. Your commissioner was a driving force creating this current format. Guarantee he discussed a number of scenarios playing out before he approved this thinking there was no way his conference does not come out ahead. I also guarantee NONE of those conversations had Bama goin 8-3 😄 I have not been on much having family in town this weekend. How about the ACC flopping? People want to complain about IU, but the best 2 teams in the ACC get smoked in round 1.....lol One thing that is difficult to do is an honest comparison of conferences. Is the SEC SOOOOO superior that they should have had Alabama and Ole' Miss in???? Maybe 10 years ago, I could say the conference was that good. I am not going to say that now, and I felt that even before Tennessee lost. The current conference set up does not leave any room for top teams from each conference to play each other to get a better picture. We will see a 16 team playoff even though 10-12 of the teams have no prayer at winning a title. We will see it seeded 1-16 instead of guaranteed top bids for conference champions. Regardless of any changes, one fact will remain, fans of SEC teams will bitch. I think it's funny that the bowl games include 3 ranked SEC teams will play 3 unranked B1G teams, and those same SEC fans will use those games as some kind of proof of something lol.
  5. 1. No, it can happen any time after a fair catch. Without the penalty, the fair catch MUST be caught though. 2. While I am not an official, as a coach for 30 years, and including my playing career from 5th through 12th grade, I have never seen it.
  6. While I cannot relate, I thought this was funny.
  7. Looked like several players were just going through the motions; like they want the season to just be over.
  8. Congratulations to Travis Hunter.
  9. Blake Horvath definitely outshined his counterpart Bryson Daily. Navy had 378 total yards, Horvath had 107 passing and 204 rushing. The fake punt gained 29 yards for a total of 340 yards, which means the rest of team had 38 total yards.
  10. Army figured out how to move the ball until they got to the red zone and had to settle for a couple field goals. Their defense has no answer to the Navy offense.
  11. Surprised that Navy seems to be controlling the game up front. The QB for Army is tough player. #FearTheBones
  12. I can only imagine how much this is happening. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1KC6zArRD4/
  13. While I was not the one who did it, there are reasons we have strict guidelines in place. It's been that way for 20 years now.
  14. I see what you did there (In my Brian Kelly Southern accent)
  15. So many places I could have posted this one, but chose here since the guy will be playing next season. It does lead me to thinking, how many guys will choose to stay longer in college now? Potential for better or equal pay; avoid being drafted by the Bears or the Browns.
  16. If the price is right......I do agree though that Freeman does seem to be at home. I mean Bob Knight never felt the urge to go back to Ohio State, sooooooo 😄To be fair, if I said I typed that only being half serious, I would be lying.....it was more like a sliver of seriousness, and more for shits and giggles.
  17. Watching the Fox pregame shows Sunday, and when asked their thoughts, Edelman, Brady, AND Gronk all laughed at the thought of him as the head coach of a college team. They took a few jabs at what may happen as well in certain situations. The upside in this era of college football is bringing in a guy who has experience running a pro team including being a GM. And now we all know he is good at recruiting young talent. 🤣 What I do NOT see him doing well is kissing up to the wealthy alums. He has been so used to doing his own thing without being questioned. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/42917765/sources-bill-belichick-finalizing-deal-unc-coach
  18. What are the odds of: Notre Dame winning the 1st round game AND Ohio State losing their 1st round game AND Day getting fired AND Freeman going to Ohio State?
  19. Cannot disagree. IU has to stop the Notre Dame run game to have a chance. And Leonard is a threat as a runner. IU has been solid against the run this season. I will say that Leonard's passing game has been suspect. He seems to hesitate a lot, and he waits until receivers are completely open before throwing the ball, instead of having the timing of throwing when they break or even leading the runner so he can catch the ball without breaking stride. he is so similar to Ian Book, but is a better runner than Book. For most of the season, I felt IU was the better team. Protecting Rourke will be a huge task. Will Notre Dame blitz much? Or just relay on the front 4? IU struggled most of the Ohio State game with blitz pick up, and for half of the Michigan game. I have not been impressed with what Golden dials up for blitzes. It's rare that the guy blitzing gets there. Far too often it's a safety that blitzes. As far as the other teams, I think Oregon is a bit better than all the others. The difference is the QB. Gabriel is really good. Texas' best QB has been on the bench most of the season. Ewers really struggles at times including both games against Georgia. For Georgia, how healthy is Beck?
  20. Aspects of this have been brought up here over the last couple years. Bottom line is this is heading rapidly toward a professional league outside the NCAA. https://www.si.com/college-football/pitch-college-football-super-league-private-equity
  21. Clicked on the link this morning. Nice to see that it updates each day.
  22. The portal is open, so what better way to start the off season topic with the initial entries. You can click on the current school logo to the right to see all the entries from that program. Who is next to strike it rich? Who will bust. IU relied on it pretty heavily, but so did Florida State. https://247sports.com/college/football/recruiting/season/2025-football/transferportal/
  23. Agreed....either way though, 16 or 8, no conversation about Alabama getting in takes place. Sticking to 8 just might help the Bowl games......maybe?
  24. The State of the State 🤣
  25. The conference commissioners set this system in place to benefit themselves. They set up the automatic bids for the top 4 seeds. Arizona State finishes the season ranked 12th, but they get one of the byes. Two things happen after this. The playoff expands to 16 teams. That would eliminate 99.99999999999% of what has been discussed this entire weekend. No byes and the top seeds all get a home game, and no need for locking in automatic bids for the top 4 seeds.
