  1. Happy that he is doing well, but just cannot be for osu. 🙂
  2. One thing that has not been mentioned so far; there have been some huge mistakes defensively. Too many blown coverages, blitzes coming from guys that are just too far away. I still have the visual of the safety blitz against OSU and Stroud finding a wide open receiver where a safety would be.......and the blitz not even coming close. The ball was gone by the time the safety even got to the LOS. Soooo it got me thinkin......I remember the moment when the announcers said that Al Golden had so many years of NFL experience. My first thought was ohhh shit, that makes sense. The last Coordinator they had with a lot of NFL experience did not do very well and was fired in the middle of his 3rd season. Prior to that season, our staff went to the coaching clinic at Notre Dame. It is part of the Spring game weekend. We got there Friday, but Thursday night, they have round table sessions with various coaches. So we missed out on that. Our DC and I went to one session, "3rd Down Pressures". Brian Van Gorder was the presenter. I never came away from a session at any clinic in my 30 years feeling more confused about anything. I would have been better off sitting in a class where the teacher spoke Greek, and come away with a better understanding of what I sat through. There were literally 27 different "packages" for 3rd down. My friend and I looked at each other and thought, this is insane. We were not the only ones.....every coach that walked out at the end with us had the same questions....what in THE hell what was that? First thing that came up after he was fired was the same thing we said.......that system is WAAAAAAAYYYYYY too complicated; Kelly said, we need to simplify some things and let our athletes be athletes. Keep in mind Kelly's background is defense. And this was when he had some athletes and great players......in the Jaylon Smith era. Soooooo, I am thinking again; kids look lost in coverage. The stunts are ineffective, you will NOT out scheme anyone on this level. Defense at this level boils down to our jimmy's and joe's just being better than yours.
  3. This guy, even though he is a Texans fan, is hilarious.
  4. The 70's were pretty good too for both IU and ND.
  5. More than likely.........some things need to change quickly with him and his game planning. If Mayer has less than 10 passes to him, the problem grows for Rees.
  6. It's actually a NYC term; referred to fans who did not go to the school who travelled by train regularly from there to South Bend to see them play.
  7. There is a special connection between the school and Chicago. Don't forget though the West Point cheating scandal helped Leahy significantly in the 40's. That really is what moved the program to another level.
  8. As disappointed as I am in the start, I did chuckle at this one
  9. Props to the guy for owning it. Now with Pyne at QB, let's see if things change
  10. I agree that Marshall is good. Coach Huff has worked hard on the field and in the recruiting phase. Several names that played a significant role Saturday are on this list. If he can sustain this for multiple seasons before being plucked by another program, they will get some attention. https://247sports.com/college/marshall/Season/2022-Football/TransferPortal/?institutionkey=24052
  11. On a different note; I thought this looked bad when he came off the field. I do not wish this on any player. I wish him a speedy recovery.
  12. Even as a fan, I had to laugh at this one
  13. Albert Pujols has ALWAYS been a class act.
  14. This one was brutal. Way too many mistakes. How Jefferson was able to be so open most of the game is nuts. Rodgers only having Cobb as a veteran receiver hurt, but they tried throwing WAY too much. Jones was gashing them on the run. If Watson catches the ball on the opening drive, it may be a different game. That said, Green Bay has just not been good for several years now with the deep passing game. Rodgers struggles adapting to new receivers. That has always been the case. A veteran receiver though would know what to do when plays break down. They are not on the same page, and there is no excuse for that. They have been practicing for 6 weeks now. And Cobb just cannot get separation any more. The TE position gets the first completion in the 4th quarter? No screen game? The Vikings definitely came well prepared to play. Props to them for that.
  15. From the Dolphins game today in the parking lot....damn
  16. They very well could. I count 8 top 25 that lost yesterday. Even better than that top 4, in the show 2 weeks ago, Desmond Howard had Pittsburgh as a playoff team.
  17. It seems Bama is good for one game like that every year.
  18. I miss this guy being a coach. I am willing to bet he will not coach again with that kind of money. This is a classic
  19. Upsets continue with Kentucky beating Florida Mild upset with Tennessee beating Pitt.
  20. So, they decided to play some football after all.
  21. I am not sure what else IU can do to itself in a game. This is pathetic. So many mistakes and they really have no answer for the Idaho offense. The are lucky to only be down 10-0. The big issue for this game is the offense cannot stay on the field. The defense is going to be out of gas
  22. Houston was projected to be at least a New year's Day 6 teamthis year. They had to come from 14 down against UTSA last week. They were 14 down this week against Texas Tech, but TT was able to get the game to OT. They held Houston to a FG in the second OT series, and scored a TD after that to win. Texas A&M, ranked 6th loses to Appalachian State. Looks like a season very similar to last year where a lot of teams will be moving in the rankings.
  23. Washington State goes in to Madison and beats Wisconsin. Pretty cool to see the WSU Head Coach come back to his home State to get a win.
  24. Pyne may have to start. That injury to Buchner did not look good. Maybe a collarbone? The O Line is killing them. Rushing 4 most of the game and getting pressure should not happen. This was a pethetic showing. Announcers call Mayer Buchner's favorite receiver, but the dude was open on that pick 6.....WIIIIIIIDE open actually, but Buchner knew where he was going before the snap. They did not go to Mayer much late in the Ohio State game, and did not go to him enough here.
  25. I think he gave full control to Rees with the offense. I think it was him that stuck with Coan the whole game.
