Hoosier Hills Conference
Fkfootball replied to starbacker's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
All of the years that East beat us, they were the better team. But I do agree that we should probably win a watered down HHC. Thats why I've lobbied pretty hard for this conference to get better. I want better teams. At least be as good as Conference Indiana. -

The Floyd Central/Seymour game in Seymour is a huge game. We lose up there more often than not. I'm not gonna lie. Seymour is my favorite team in the conference to play. Even more than New Albany. Just something about that town. Their colors. The alums from there. If anyone from Seymour on here thinks I don't like them, nothing could be further from the truth. That will be a hell of a game. Idc what the records are or who has more talent or what? -

Johnson is really good. But you have to give credit to Isaac Kaiser too. He was AP All State last season. He single handily won us several games last season. Couldn't agree with this more. I never pay attention to Pre-Season, Exhibition, or Scrimmage games. They mean very little in any sport. Some NFL teams go 3-0 in Pre Season and then go 6-10 during the regular season. -

Did Floyd Central blow it last year? I'm not sure how these comments continue to be made? When have they choked? They've either been good or not good. It's as simple as that. -

Umm, im not sure? If they can beat Terre Haute South on the road, I will give them the nod. I see a lot of 2023 Seymour in this team. Coach Bragg is big on defense though so hopefully he will get that lined out. -

I mean we aren't bad. But I don't think FC will win the Regional, or even the Sectional this year. I hope so. I'm praying. -

Floyd Central is playing Louisville St X. I'm expecting another blowout loss to them. However we did beat their Freshman team last year so hopefully it'll be competitive soon. -

I haven't heard one person have one good thing to say about the "No child left behind act." Not one. -

I agree 100%. I wasn't giving an opinion, just what's on paper. Doctors and Lawyers have graduated from every school in Southern Indiana. -

Someone asked what the difference was between CN and JC. I provided facts that show that CN is a higher rated school. -

Since we apparently like facts on here, because opinions aren't allowed, I dug up some info on this situation. Citing U.S News-Education, who ranks schools based on College Readiness, State Assesment Proficiency, State Assessment Performance, and graduation rate; Columbus North checks in at # 70. Jennings County checks in at #247. The other HHC schools. Floyd Central-#21 New Albany-#75 BNL-#123 Jeffersonville-#166 Seymour-#181 Columbus East-#234 -

I did attend the Floyd/Charlestown scrimmage yesterday. The good things I saw were, I like FCs QB Jack Mull. He's a Jr. Not a running threat but he's accurate throwing the football. The other QB Stone, is a So and has great mobility but has to become more polished throwing it. They have 3 good RBs. Sebastian Robertson who's the banger. And Luke Jacobi who's a Sophomore and is the scat guy. Jacobi Jones who is 220 Lbs and explosive will be a big addition when his 4 game ineligibility ends. He was impressive. Their OL is very good too. Probably avg around 250 Lbs. And their WR core is the best I've seen here. Kaiser, Jr All State, didn't get many reps because they don't need him to. They are at least 6-7 deep at WR. Unfortunately Camden Harritt who caught 2 TD passes yesterday suffered a significant injury. They have a So named Zenel Lawless who reminds me of Johnson from Seymour, who should get some of Harritts targets. Now the bad. The Defense. Their run defense is, putting mildly, a work in progress. They only return 3 starters on defense and all of them are on the back end. Their DL struggled. Too many gash plays. I imagine coach Bragg isn't real happy about it. Their LB core has some potential but it may be an adventure in the middle of their DL. Their coverage wasn't bad. There are some good DBs on that roster. But the DL has to get better. Overall, we look a lot like Seymour the past 2 seasons. -

The truth is, he shouldn't be ineligible. Just let kids go to school and play where they want. I don't care if you drive your kid 50 miles to go to another school, that should be your choice. And it shouldn't affect athletics. Every school would have the same fortunes. You'd lose some kids. And you'd gain some kids. For instance. Maybe a 2A schools best player decides to move to a 5A school. But that same school may also gain a kid from a 6A school that isn't a big player there but would be in 2A? I'm just spitballing. I know not everyone will agree with this. I'm just trying to come up with something that seems reasonable. -
I went to the FC-Charlestown game, as I am a FC fan. Charlestown has a pretty good running game. Their passing game has a ways to go but they have some guys I like at the skill positions.

The issue would be him trying to explain to his teammates why he bailed on them. Not a good locker room situation. Even in HS. -

You would think that. That's why he was confused by that. He may as well go back to Jennings County. It would be good for the conference. It would make them more competitive than they would be otherwise. -

I'm talking about Varsity, down the road. Coach Bragg was telling me it's hard to find teams to play out of conference. Teams see that they've played St X, Male, and Elder and think that we are some powerhouse on the level of those teams. Lol. It's wild. -

Talk to coach May about doing a 2 year deal with Floyd Central someday. I'd be excited as hell about that. That would be a good matchup. Especially this year since you guys are loaded. -

We have a guy who transferred from Louisville Waggoner last year and he can't play until week 5. These rules don't make much sense. And he lives in Floyd County. -

They need to just make it a free for all like College. You can't stop this stuff. I'm old school like most of you. But just let kids play where they want to play. -

I watched the Glicod Southern Indiana preview tonight. Notes from HHC coaches involved. Steve Cooley-Trying to re-establish identity. 3 way battle at QB. Hired a new DC. Loves his Linebackers. Secondary returns both starting CBs. OL is decent but lacks depth. Likes the tough schedule they have. Joe Washington(New Jeffersonville coach)- Wants to become a top team in 6A. Looking for kids who take pride in Jeffersonville football. Trying to establish culture in season 1. (Nothing too exciting. He just kept it simple.) James Bragg-At a point where he can reload and not rebuild. Offensive Line is strength of the team. Will be suprised if they don't really move people this season. Is concerned about interior Defensive Line. Needs to find depth there. Secondary is much better than it was last season. Returns top 4 WRs and top 2 TEs. Has established a culture and identity of discipline. Community has embraced him and the crowds are improving. Has 128 players in the program and 258 players in the youth program. Numbers grow every season.
