    Other schedule changes thus far:

    - Jennings County will open the season at South Dearborn. The Panthers opened with a neutral site game against Norwell this year. They’re trading one Knights team for another.

    - Seymour, who had opened with South Dearborn the last four years, will now open the 2022 season at Greenwood.

    - Seymour will also have a change in week 9. After Madison every year since 1997, the Owls will now host Bloomington South (as mentioned by @MuleDriver)

    - Not really a schedule change but Jeffersonville will be playing at Bell County (KY) in week 1. Jeff was supposed to host them this year in week 1 but COVID kept it from happening.

BNL, Floyd Central, and New Albany’s schedules are listed as incomplete on John Harrell’s website. Here’s what we do know:

    - BNL still has Martinsville and Bloomington North as their opponents for weeks 1 and 2. Madison is still their week 8 opponent.

    - Floyd Central doesn’t have any non-conference opponents listed yet but I believe @Fkfootball had mentioned at the beginning of this past season who the Highlanders will be playing.

    - New Albany will still play Bloomington South in week 1 and Bloomington North in week 6. No opponent listed yet for week 2 but that was Gibson Southern this past season.

Floyd Central plays Louisville Male for one more season and then switches to St Xavier, who just won the 6A Championship in Kentucky and finished ranked #1. As you guys know, I’m not a huge fan of this. I respect them for scheduling these teams, I just wish they’d beat Columbus East a few times first before scheduling the best teams in the Midwest, but hopefully it will make them better.

It appears we will continue to play Silver Creek as well.

Whats the offseason look like for the conference teams? Saw online some teams around the state doing open workouts this time of year. Any conference teams have winter practices going?

I saw that Floyd Central had some guys make the team. So it’s been announced. Haven’t heard anything about Winter Practices.

You were right.  That momentum from the Strickland commitment propelled Purdue to an 8-win season and made IU go winless in conference.  Just imagine if he had chosen IU and all that momentum went the other way.  IU may well have been playing in the upcoming BTCG for a spot in the playoffs.  #LEO

It isn’t good enough for Purdue to have a good season and beat Indian handily. You morons have to TROLL as well. I swear, Indiana lives rent free in your heads.

New Albany will graduate a ton this year.. CE and Seymour will probably be your two best teams in the HHC with Floyd in the mix. East vastly improved as the year went on and returns a ton of kids that played this year.

As for next year, We will have to wait and see how the sectionals line up, because I believe New Pal goes back to 4A. East could win a sectional next year depending on what the sectionals look like.

Cathedral has already been to 6A once, and were brought back down to 5A after their 2 years in it… Again, it will depend on what sectional they get put into.

I’m back again. Sorry, I’m a football addict. I agree with a lot of this. I kind of expect East to be the best team. Just going off of history. Seymour was pretty good too. We didn’t get to play them so I don’t really know much about their roster makeup. Floyd Central should be pretty stout offensively. Robertson is back at QB for 2 more years. Bernardi has 2 more years. Grant Popp who would’ve started at RB, will be healthy. Their top WRs Branham, Grainger, and Fonda will be back. 3 starting OL are back. Defensively they’ll have some attrition. They lost Harvey, Jenkins, Ripley, Jacobi. Some good guys in their front 7. I’m thinking they have about 6 starters back on defense? Something like that. Their K/P Grainger will be back too. They should be better. BNL should be good too. Their QB is a Sophomore and he was good this year.

Every year Floyd and Bloomington South have the most injuries of any teams, is South also getting scammed by the strength and conditioning coach? Sounds like maybe something is wrong in that weight program over there if this is a reoccurring theme like MD makes it out to be.

Speaking for FC, we aren’t being scammed by the Strength Coach. Injuries are just bad luck. Which my teams tend to have.

Simmons was the biggest game changer for NA all season. Maybe the player of the year in Southern Indiana. Yes, I know all about Dasan McCullough. Probably a day 1 starter at Indiana.

Bloomington South was without their starting QB and starting RB last night. I don’t think New Albany would’ve won under normal circumstances but I’m still shocked they won at all.

This is the most experienced team New Albany probably has ever had and it allowed them to get here. First conference and sectional titles since 2002. First ever regional title. Nevertheless, I fully expect Cathedral to be up by 35+ by halftime and play with a running clock in the second half.

New Albany has spent about 7 years building this team. All these kids have been together that long. They had a heck of a season and they’ll be back to winning 3-4 games a year after these guys graduate.

  7. I’ll go against what I said, for one more post. I know I’ll get trolled for it, but I’m used to it.

I wanted to show some class and congratulate the coaches and players from New Albany. Can’t blame the officials or the coaching. New Albany is just more experienced this season and they made the critical plays. Coach Bragg did what he had to do. He called 2 trick plays that had wide open passes dropped in the end zone. Executed an onside kick, but stalled on the 25 because they couldn’t catch the ball. Fumbled on the 1st play of the 1st drive. Can’t really blame coaching for any of it. Like East, they’re just young and New Albany executed at a high level like they did against all of the HHC. Floyd Central will return a lot of players so hopefully next year will be a lot better and hopefully they invest in a Jugs machine. I hope everyone has a good off-season.

  8. This will be my last post on here untill next season. I have a lot of appreciation for the Columbus East fans on here. You guys are some highly respectable people, and quite honestly the best football fans on this thread. There are a couple others on here I can say that about as well. I wish you guys and coach Vogel the best of the luck in Sectionals.

Im going to take the high road and not criticize anyone else. But some of you guys need to learn what a message board opinion thread is. This is an opinion board. We give opinions based on what we think. If you don’t agree, then you don’t agree. I’m sure the East fans don’t agree with everything I say. They also don’t slam it in my face everytime I say anything.

35-16, 19 point difference, those officials must be really good. I hope you don’t get the same crew at Jeff.

It’s obvious that you feel the same way about Floyd Central as the crew did last night. I’ve never heard you say anything positive about them. I’d hate to have you doing a game.

  10. New Albany wins 35-16.

And I tell you what, I don’t really care. I just hope we get to play them again in 2 weeks. Everything that could go right for them, went right. They got every call. They never got penalized for anything. Helmet to Helmet. Late hits. Taunting. Absolutely nothing. Steve Cooley was hugging the officials and shaking their hands in the 4th qtr. I don’t care what the final score was because in almost 30 years of watching HS football, that was about as fixed as I’ve ever seen. Not even mad at Coach Bragg or his team at all. On to Jeffersonville.

Does the draw affect the way NA or FC approaches Friday night's game?  Do you keep the play calling conservative, or do you pull out all the stops, run the Annexation of Puerto Rico, to get the win?

NA doesn’t play. But I’m guessing FC will probably take it 1 game at a time. Last year they walked in expecting to breeze through Jeffersonville and they got hit in the face. Jeffersonville is going to play hard. As is the other HHC teams in here. You’re not showing up in this Sectional and just winning. All of these teams are close enough that it’s going to be about who can grind out wins and make winning plays in the 4th.

I think it is. But if FC won the sectional they would guarantee themselves a road game in the Regional.

I went and pulled up the rules and Frozen Tundra is correct. And by these rules, FC would be on the road in any Championship scenario.

    Determining Home Team
First Round: The second-named team in the blind draw is host school unless the two teams agree to switch the site.
Semifinals: The team without a home game will host. Exception: The bye team will always be the visitor. If both teams were hosts or both were visitors, the second-named team in the quarter bracket will host. In 6A & 5A, in the four team sectionals, the second-named team will host.
Championships: Host team will be the team that has played the most away games. If both teams have played the same number of away games, the bottom bracket team shall host.
