  1. Are some of the kids wearing what might be referred to as "kicker pants?" I've noticed more and more kickers with pants that come down to right above the knee ... although my son's a kicker and still wears his stuff "old school." I assumed that, more psychological than physical, the leg was "freer" and able to do a very specific activity "better." Haven't seen any issues with those on linemen, probably for the reason @US31 implied ... it just seems nuts to be on the line without pads on the knees and anywhere else you can get them. Mainly have seen it with ball carriers; mainly receivers. Not sure if they think it makes them faster ... or heck, maybe it actually does. All I know, being a lineman, is that no one, including me, would take me seriously arguing that knee pads were slowing me down. It was the stuff above my belt and under my tail pad that earned me the nickname "Ice Wagon."
  2. 2 POINT GAMES Benton Central @ Central Catholic Rensselaer @ Northwestern Washington @ Hamilton Heights Tipton @ Western Twin Lakes @ West Lafayette Sheridan @ Eastern Taylor @ Tri-Central North Vermillion @ Fountain Central South Vermillion @ Seeger Triton @ Knox
  3. Hoping this is true as that puts Harrison in a hopeful spot as well. Last year Plainfield was able to comeback after losing to Harrison earlier in the season to claim the win at sectional. I'm hoping a similar fate happens this year where Harrison's able to return that favor.
  4. West Lafayette out of the Top 10? Say it ain't so.
  5. Used to have honorary Catholics, West Lafayette, in there as well as Brebeuf. Of course, having TV in there this season makes it worse than having WL.
  6. For that year, and actually several years, that LCC/Pioneer matchup was #1 vs. #2 in 1A. Both teams were undefeated at that point and both had just waltzed right through sectionals. It was also the first year that LCC had played in 1A since 4-peating and spending two years up in 2A via one of the first "guests" of Success Factor, so there was a lot of excitement about that game. The only other team that I saw that drew a crowd like that in the last 20 years at LaRocca was when LCC and West Lafayette played in 2011 ... the Immaculate Interception game.
  7. And their mothers dressed them funny too. Lord, I apologize for that there.
  8. Being more of a defensive guy, the 2009-2012 squads always held my attention for their physicality. You are right that that 2015 LCC team had lots of talent on it; especially from an offensive standpoint. The receiving corp was just overflowing with targets and then you toss in Jackson Anthrop in the backfield and it was hard to figure where you were going to be attacked. Pioneer was really good that year and that 31-14 score was a little misleading as Pioneer led that game 14-10 going into the 4th quarter. 100%. Couldn't agree more!
  9. Maybe LCC in 2015 or 2019, but not the four-peats in 2009-2012 and probably not the 1999 or 1976 teams. Incidentally, I believe that @BendNotBreak and others responded skeptically to your post about the current AC team winning in 90% of the 1A championship games over the years, not that the current AC team isn't competitive or above average. No one is saying anything bad about the current AC team in their own right. There is, however, a difference in being an above average championship team, which typically tends to get you to LOS, and being a team that could claim to be classified as the top 5 out of 50 teams in the last 50 years. You might be able to make a claim of top 10 out of 50, pending the results of this season, but top five looking at the 2009-2012 LCC teams, that monster Pioneer 2018 squad, and the likes of the Sheridan squads in the 2005-2007 seasons and also the 1998 squad is not that likely a feat. Matter of fact, I'd even contend that there are some squads that didn't make it to LOS that would be in the running for top squads. That Pioneer squad from 2009 and the Sheridan squad from 2011 were probably the second best teams in 1A in those respective years that never even made it to LOS.
  10. I recall back in the day when Lutheran was being beat by Milan, West Washington, and South Putnam, before they could even get out of sectionals and no one was talking about them. A little success will change that dynamic.
  11. I'll leave you argue with the Sheridan folks about the Zachery years, but I'd say that the four years of LCC four-peat and Pioneer's juggernaut 2018 makes the starting point 90% at the ceiling.
  12. In 2015, 1A LCC beat 3A West Lafayette and both teams ended the season at LOS with LCC bringing home a blue ring with a victory over Linton and West Lafayette bringing home the red against Chatard. In 2009, 1A LCC and 3A West Lafayette both ended up in LOS with both bringing home blue rings. That was a year of the "mythical river championship" when the conjecture was that LCC could have won 3A that season. While LCC and WL did not play that year ... that would have to wait until 2011 and the "Immaculate Interception" where LCC would stun WL 21-14 with a 21-point 4th quarter including a last-minute pick-6 to win the game ... common opponent scores would show LCC going 56-0 and 68-0 compared to WL's 48-19 and 41-14 against Delphi and Benton Central, respectively. Incidentally, in that 2011 year when LCC and WL hooked up in the season of te Immaculate Interception game, the season before LCC joined the HC, LCC 3-peated in 1A, while WL dropped a 21-13 semi-state game to South Bend St. Joe. In the first 6 seasons starting with the resumption of play in 2011, LCC topped WL 5 of 6 seasons. For the last seven seasons though, WL has prevailed.
  13. Harrison's getting some good depth play in right now. Played the whole game last night with #2 QB and seconds seeing decent playing time. #2 QB has been in a few times already this year with some scores. Defense starting to gel. McCutcheon showing it's getting some life as a program possibly. Recall that they only loss to Guerin 18-10 earlier in the season. Looking forward to a couple possible rematches for Harrison with McCutcheon and Plainfield.
  14. McCutcheon 20 - 16 over Jeff with 8 minutes left in the game. Harrison 38 - Tech 6. Final.
  15. Tech scores on a 7-yard pass. 2-pt conversion fails. Harrison 38 - Tech 6. 6:28 left in game.
  16. Jeff opens up second half with a score. Still trails McCutcheon 13-7.
  17. Harrison with a 35-yard FG. Leads Tech 38-0 at half. Tech will receive in the second half with a running clock.
  18. Harrison now up 35-0 over Tech, scoring on all five possessions. 4:20 left in Q2. McCutcheon leads Jeff 13-0 closing in on the half.
  19. Harrison up 28-0 over Tech, scoring on all four possessions. 8:57 left in Q2.
  20. Was a time just a couple of decades ago when playing LCC meant a W in the books for the Bison. Got here around 2001 and BC notched wins against LCC 2001 through 2004 with a couple of them in pure beatdown fashion 46-13 in 2002, 48-25 in 2003, and 34-13 in 2001. In the 10 years from 1994-2003 BC was 8-2 against LCC.
  21. 2 Point Games Hamilton Heights @ Tipton Central Catholic @ Twin Lakes Rensselaer @ Benton Central Tippecanoe Valley @ West Lafayette Western @ Northwestern Frontier @ Tri-County North Judson @ Triton McCutcheon @ Lafayette Jeff Culver @ Caston Bluffton @ Heritage
  22. Potentially, I could the HC remaining, if West Lafayette left, it might look like a semi-larger version of the HHC; especially if they pick up Frankfort. If that's ends up being the case, I could see Tri-West, Danville, Lebanon, joining up with West Lafayette and possibly maybe peeling off Western to form a new conference. Would be interesting, in that case, to see if LCC goes stays with the HC or takes their chances with the new conference. Calpreps shows LCC only a TD off of Lebanon and Danville, two TDs off of Tri-West and a winner over Western. They already play Guerin in non-conference rivalry game and Seeger more recently. Would Heights peel off in a situation like that to face Tri-West, Danville, and Lebanon? Calpreps says HH is favored in against all three.
  23. LCC's 2A by SF only. It is ranked 25th out of 64 for size in 1A.
  24. Was looking forward to going down there because my son said that the game had been moved to the UIndy field, but today he said that the game is now moved to Broad Ripple High School.
