Then we are pretty much haggling over price then. If they are good enough to be in the Top 10% of all schools in the state as a 1A, they're pretty competitive and closer to Top 25 than more than 90% of the state.

Old GID favorite that came out around 2011 when LCC was headed for three-peat and its third undefeated season in a row and featuring speedster, Danny Anthrop, in his senior season. LCC was scheduled to face Scecina at LOS and, in the run-up week to the state finals, there was plenty of talk about the two teams, with several folks talking about just how fast Anthrop was and just how forcefully the LCC defense had shut down everyone that season. A Scecina supporter, in response, chimed in and stated that LCC hadn't seen "city speed" yet ... compared to "county speed." LCC beat Scecina like a rented mule, holding their top rusher to 35 yards, while Anthrop racked up over 250 yards. Instant classic and long running joke on GID.

This was accurate as of 2022, but I don't know if it has been updated to include some of the newer schools in 1A ... in part because some aren't yet eligible for post-season.

Looks like the IHSAA did a NW/SE cut for the North/South in the last classification. I suspect they started from the south and realized that, since Zionsville had moved to 6A finally, when they got to Plainfield and Decatur Central, they needed another two teams to make four in that sectional. Anderson ended up odd-man-out and got put in with the three Fort Wayne guys and TSC schools, Harrison and McCutcheon, were the other two schools closest to Indy.

What's the take on Decatur Central?

Last classification, LCC was around the size of North Decatur and Covington. Last classification they were around 296 with around 25 teams above that in 1A. There are still schools like Adams Central, Park Tudor, Parke Heritage, and South Adams that are likely to end up in 2A by enrollment before LCC. At one time, LCC and Pioneer used to be right next to each other when they laid out the enrollments, but Pioneer's pulled ahead a little ... although there are still about 20 teams higher than Pioneer.
