This doesn't strike me as a slam dunk. We've seen many times over the years a good north team come down and slug a Central Indiana team in the mouth. I think that happens for a while in this one. Westfield pulls away in the 4th. Final 28-14 Rocks.

2-1 last week…17-2 in the postseason, 94-18 on the year.
Center Grove at Ben Davis: Let’s see here, am I going to pick against the team that has won 12 straight games against in-state competition or the one whose only loss is to the #2 team in America?
I have learned not to pick against Eric Moore, especially in November, and learned my lesson last week in picking Cathedral to upset Ben Davis. I don’t usually get into a position by position comparison here, but don’t believe it’s controversial to believe BD has more talent across the board.
Both teams have extremely talented quarterbacks, but the Giants have more talent in the backfield, at the skill positions and along the defensive line.
But they don’t have Eric Moore. Russ Mann is a bright mind and has done one hell of a job in year 1. If he traverses the path of beating Hart, Peebles AND Moore in his first year, I’ll tip my cap.
If wake up Saturday morning, having picked against CG and am wrong, I’d never forgive myself. If I wake up having picked CG and BD wins, I’d feel less bad, lol. I’ve waffled on this one since 10pm Friday night and I’ll duck on the way out. Picked CG when the tournament started, so I’m going all in.
CG wins 27-24.
Westfield @ Crown Point: Both teams coming off thrilling victories last weekend sets up the showdown in the region. Crown Point breaking through is good for the sport similar to how Carroll did last year. Westfield has played 90 minutes of bad football all season and I believe that any talk of travel causing difficulty is grossly overstated as the Shamrocks have been here before. Not to use an idiom but Westfield is much more battle tested and it will show here.
Westfield wins 31-17.
What say you?
Solid picks and rationale. I flip Ben Davis and Center Grove...you know...the huge homer thing (BD 31, CG 28).
As long as one doesn't get completely doors blown off by the other, there's no shame in losing to the other team. If Center Grove beats the Giants, I will tip my cap. BD and CG (and Brownsburg) are some of the best teams we've seen around in a while. It just happens they all have/had the unfortunate luck to play in the same year/same class/same geographic area with each other. -

I guess if someone is doing a free a stream of game then you can get. Would a school be able to do that with their own media dept. if they could and ISHAA wouldn't be able to stop it?
There are no free streams...at least live. The IHSAA hires out the Semi-State round and charges $12 or $20 (for all) to pay for it. The IHSAA has exclusive rights to all their tournament games, so there's no broadcast unless it's approved.

Was this the year we had rain leading up to Friday then rain on Friday and Saturday so several games had to be made up on Monday? I seem to be associating a 4-3 game with that season.
ETA: How was the game archived? Cassette? When did you switch over to a digital recorder?
I think it was on cassette. We've been recording digitally for the last 15 years or so at WBDG.

Interesting facts
Center Grove has won the last 8 meetings between Center Grove and Ben Davis and 11 of the last 13 meetings. At one time the Giants held a 10-2 advantage over the Trojans (in 2006). The Trojans now lead the series 19-15 over the Giants. In 2006 Ben Davis beat Center Grove 4-3, that is a odd Final Score of a game you don't see too often!
BD coach records vs CG:
Dullaghan 7-2Allen 3-0
Kirschner 5-9
Simmons 0-8
Mann 0-0

4-3 was a game where Center Grove scored all the points.
A field goal, a safety for holding in the end zone, and a safety for the punter stepping out of bounds. Here's the broadcast on WBDG.

You'd have BD -3 against an NFL team.
That's not true. They'd win by a much bigger margin than that. 🤣 🤥

I could be wrong, but I see this as a coin flip game. I think there's a good chance that this could come down to a last possession-type finish. Still riding with the Giants, though.

Interesting stat: Since the start of the 1988 season, Ben Davis is now 15-0 against Cathedral. http://www.almanacsports.com/football/series.php?team1=BD&team2=IND_CAT
Yes, that's accurate.

Tons of respect for Ben Davis. I just think Brownsburg was Indiana's best team. If Indiana had to go to battle against the other 49 states, Brownsburg would be my choice to represent. It happens, the best team doesn't always come out on top. I'll defer to some of the other posters on this one...........as long as they're not from Ben Davis or Brownsburg. Like I said, just one man's opinion. Ben Davis is certainly the real deal.
I'm from Ben Davis and a "huge homer"...but I don't disagree. Brownsburg, Ben Davis and Center Grove all three are some of the best teams we've seen in Indiana in the 6A class. It's a shame they all are in the same geographic area.

Eric Moore and the Trojans roll into the Westside to face Russ Mann and the Giants. Should be another classic!
Giants win it by 3, 31-28. It's a coin flip game.

Great football game. Cathedral is a first-class program. Glad this game will become a yearly thing in the regular season the next few seasons.

Final
Ben Davis 27, Cathedral 24
Alvin Contreras picks off a pass in the end zone. Giants able to go to the victory formation to win Regional #21.

-
Ben Rudolph good on a 40 yard FG to give the Giants a 27-24 lead over Cathedral with 2:38 to play.
-
Both defenses feasting now. Neither offense can do much. Someone's going to have to make a play as Ben Davis gets the ball back with 4:38 to play at the Cathedral 47
-
Danny O'Neil is tough as nails. Guy's been banged up all night. He's still makin' plays. Coach Prime can pick 'em.
Still tied. Giants defense has held. Giants ball back at their own 30.
Tied at 24.

Giants go for an inexplicable fake punt and give the Irish the ball at the Cathedral 49 in a tie game with 9:12 to play.

Final Center Grove 14, Warren Central 0

Touchdown Irish 10:21 to play...
Ben Davis and Cathedral tied at 24. Gonna be a classic finish.
