  1. I absolutely agree with this idea. It's absolutely ridiculous that a team with a dominating record or that has had a great season has to go to an opponent with a lesser record or a worse season's home field for a playoff game. The best teams should have earned the right to play at home in Sectional and then have neutral sites in the Regional and Semi-State.

  2. Ben Davis @ North Central - Really a coin flip game. I expect it to be a low scoring matchup. Giants eek it out 21-20.

Cathedral @ Center Grove - CG has played with fire a little bit the last two weeks. They finally get burned. Cathedral 28, Center Grove 24

Lawrence Central @ Carmel - Carmel wins this one going away. 49-0

Lawrence North @ Pike - The Wildcats close out the season with a 14 point victory, 35-21.

Michigan City @ Warren Central (Possible Game) - Warriors win this one by double digits, 35-7...if it happens.

I absolutely don’t like anything about this guy.  Constantly thinks he’s better than everyone else, talks down to people.  I truly can’t say what I want to say on this board, but if you can imagine it, I’m thinking it.

DT's only agenda is to stir up controversy and discussion, and he's good at it. He's the Skip Bayless of the GID.

No offense (especially if it was you) to whoever designed that spreadsheet, but as a spreadsheet lover and avid user in my professional and personal life, looking at that although I see why they've colored it that way, just makes my eyes sad.

It was designed for a specific purpose using the school colors to see at a glance who was where.

When CG AD Jon Zwitt hired Eric Moore to take over the Trojan football program just over 20 years ago, the goal was simple.

Clear the Carmel-Warren-Ben Davis hurdle and take our program to the top of The MIC.

    20 years later, mission accomplished.

CGs 28-13 win tonight over a game Lawrence North squad gives CG its first 7-0 outright MIC title.   Over the past 5 years, the Trojan machine has slowly and methodically passed all 3 of its top conference rivals, and now stands head and shoulders above the league with possibly the most talented high school football team in state history.  Moore doesnt have to do anything else from here on out.  He has achieved the goal, met all the marks, taken down all the demons, and created a program that is the envy of school districts throughout the state, and the midweat as well.

But it wont stop here. CG will play Cathedral in an Indiana showcase event next Friday that will feature thje states top two teams, and top two programs.  Center Grove is the standard bearer for public school football, while Cathedral holds that title amongst its PP brethren.  Another state tourney awaits Moore team, where his Trojans will be the heavy favorite to win his 4th title at the school.  And next year?  Center Grove, loaded with talented underclassmen, is the odds on favorite at this early juncture to repeat.

Nontheless, Coach Moore has reached the pinnacle.  If you dominate The MIC, you dominate the state.  They are one and the same.  Moore's 20 year run has reached its zenith.  Its all gravy from here on out.

With last night's loss to Lawrence North, Warren Central has all but assured its worst season in 28 years when the Warriors finished 2-7.

Warren's struggles are on the offensive side of the football for sure. They'll get it turned back around.

I agree with your premise.  I just dont agree that football must always be on the menu of choices to keep kids occupied.

Football is a very costly endeavor.  It consumes vast amounts of resources, and in the case of Anderson, and many other schools, provides little to no tangible return on that resource investment.

And in the case of Anderson, how many kids really benefit from the existence of the high school football program.  Anderson enrollment post consolidation is approx 1800.  I would guess they might have 100 kids in the football program grades 9-12.  Thats 5% of the student population.  Reallocate those football dollars to other activities that benefit a broader segment of the total student population.

Because of the financing of Indiana schools, money spent on athletics is not money spent in the classroom or on activities and vice versa.

Chatard is possibly the exception to that rule. Eventually, they'll stay up in 4A and have to contend in the sectional with Roncalli (assuming they remain in 4A).

At the risk of starting another argument altogether, Chatard is not a public school...though the parishes that feed Chatard must be chock full of football talent.

CG inching closer to breaking into the National Top 10.  This should happen soon as several of the teams ahead of them have played fewer games and will likley take some losses.

Without a win over a national level opponent, Center Grove has no chance at winning the USA National Title, but a Top 5 finish would be a spectacular accomplishment for the Trojans.

They are deserving of the ranking. Dismantling LC was exactly what they were expected to do. Seven touchdowns in the first quarter is more than impressive.

Kind of like 70-27.  Thats another shocking score.  One that will be remembered.

Not sure what that has to do with New Pal. The score you are speaking of, if I am correct, is Warren's 70-27 win over Ben Davis in 2018. Ben Davis is 2-1 vs. Warren since that time including a win when Warren was #1. BD also has a MIC title and a final four appearance. I know you keep forgetting last season occurred.

Talent ebbs and flows. Experience plays in the MIC. The 2018 team at BD was largely made up of youngsters or players who had not much in the way of varsity reps the previous years. Warren's 2018 team was one of the best in Indiana since at least 2010 and arguably this century.

I know you will chalk this up as me making excuses, but it happens.

I'm sure New Pal is dealing with the normal cycle that should normally happen in a school of their size. The days of complete and sustained dominance are over. Very few teams have been immune no matter the class.

That's just my two cents, though.

I expect the Irish to create more of a scoring gap in this game and the streak of 3 games with 100+ penalty yards given up comes to an end.  Elder is 3-2, lost to both Saint Xavier and La Salle which are our common opponents.

    Irish 49

    Elder 21

By the way - anyone know if attendance criteria has changed now Indiana is in stage 5 (as of Saturday)?  I keep hearing mixed messages about attendance and wonder if anyone can set it straight!

"Up to 1,500 individuals are allowed to attend outdoor athletic events for high schools; indoor events can have 500 people or 50% capacity of the venue, whichever is less. Those rules, Caine stressed, apply only to high school athletic events."
