Short answer: No. We can keep speculating and even distorting things to fit our viewpoint, but all we can do is look at data.
Right now the biggest thing is we have entered the last two weeks of Phase 4.5 (set to expire Aug. 27)
https://www.regenstrief.org/covid-dashboard/
If you check out the data the state has said is most important (hospitalizations, ICU utilization, and deaths) there are a lot of green arrows in the trend data by county. (Allen County and Lake seem to be the main outliers). The question is if these trends continue, will the state move to Phase 5 and open up games to more spectators.
Marion County Department of Public Health will not be that aggressive even if the state moves to Phase 5.

They need that $$$
Not to get political, but they're like the Governor. Push it all on the local folks.

The IHSAA isn't going to do a thing.

Just switch the name to Benjamin Harrison. Problem solved.

It meant to say had
Priscilla Dillow was at the school for years. John Clark has been there what, maybe 8-10 years.
Honest mistake
Pris was only AD from 97-02 (though she was Assistant AD for a long time). Bob Britt was AD from 1984-1997. Bob's son, Kevin was AD from 02 to 11. John Clark has been AD since 11. Heather McGowan is the current Assistant AD.

LC needs to realize it is not a mega school and move to a conference with similar size schools.
The HcC wold be the best fit, for both lc and ln

I would not be at all surprised if the Lawrence Township High School athletic apparatus is reconsidering their long term attachment to the MIC
On paper, just a poor fit for both schools.
If the HCC would accept FC, I have no doubt they would also accept LC and LN.
The MIC might be better served to go forward with 6 schools, giving its members more scheduling flexibility in football. With Cox retired, the 300 mile travel rule might be back in play.
If the MIC were to prefer remaining at 8, Cathedral and Tech would be my top two candidates. I would not consider any HCC schools for membership.

I've asked around. Sounds like Fishers got a good coach and a good man. Congratulations to Coach Funk.

Jeff was in the HCC once, I think they were basically kicked out.
Yes, McCutcheon, Lafayette Jeff, and Harrison were all once in the HCC. I believe it was over travel, wasn't it?

He's always been good to me personally and professionally. He did also award me the IHSAA Distinguished Media Award for District 2 a few years back. That was something that totally caught me by surprise as I totally did not expect it. Totally humbled and appreciative of that honor.
I haven't always agreed with his decisions, but I think he has done much for high school sports in Indiana. I think that the IHSAA Champions Network will be part of his legacy as well as the Champions Together program.
I wish him well.
I hope the next Commissioner brings some new ideas, though. I hope specifically that this individual takes a good look at the State Tournament Series in each sport and listens to good ideas from around the state on how to improve each one.

I assume the usual suspects will be back at the top of the MIC. I think Center Grove should be awfully good.

Point was that Cathedral is not your normal 1,200 enrollment school.

No problems at all with it.

Cathedral frequently competes with and defeats teams bigger than they are. Their enrollment is less than 1200.
Did you seriously type that with a straight face? I mean...seriously?

I would like to Nominate New Pal for Entry into the MIC. Reason- they have earned the right to come play in the best conference in the state. They could teach all the football teams how to play football. Their Baseball program is top notch. They have beaten CG 2 years in a row. Not enough teams in the MIC with Red as a school color. Their fans are the greatest. They need more competition. They will be in 6A in 2021. They beat Cathedral. They have a MR. Football winner. Their fans want Warren. Dragons are cool.
5/8 of the MIC has red or dark red in their color scheme.
Center Grove, NC, Pike, LC, and LN.

I nominate Ben Davis for the MIC because...Ben Davis.

Good luck to him. I will be interested to see how this goes for him.

Fun offseason topic
What if the IHSAA playoffs were a NCAA Bowl Subdivision type playoff system?
Who would your four teams have been for the playoff either outright (no class system), from your favorite class, or all classes from this last season and what other teams would be in your big bowl games.
-
It behooves a coach to come in and see the personnel he has and fit an offense and defense to that OR...like Eric Moore...you make your program fit you and install it all the way down to pee wee.
Either approach works. Dick Dullaghan ran the "I", but he ran the spread with James Banks. A good coach can/has to adapt.
