I thought BD and BBurge were in the same sectional see as how they are close together.
That would make sense.

Some bad teacher will be made to look very good by his students at WBDG as they broadcast the Ben Davis vs. Perry Meridian game tonight.
http://nap.casthost.net:2199/start/WBDG/
It's audio only. I can't believe no one wanted to do this one on TV.

On Bless vs. Hart...both are transformational coaches. My father was coached by Coach Bless' father at Indiana Central. Both are parts of great Indiana coaching families. You can see what both have done for the programs they are in charge of now.
On this game, I'll take Avon with a late score. Maybe 35-31 or something.

2014 Ben Davis...
Pike
@ Avon (Snow Game)
Warren
Center Grove
Carmel
The Giants had gotten shellacked by Carmel in the regular season and got down 17-0 then came back to win, 42-24. Needed late rallies to be Warren and Center Grove. Tight snow game in Sectional vs. Avon.

I think the current system is fine.

To be the champs, you got to beat the champs. Warren's still the champs. Late TD pushes the Warriors to the victory.
Warren 14, NC 10

I don't think the Arties joined the Mid-State Conference until the mid-2000s.

I mean yeah LC is definitely the 2nd or 3rd “worst” team in the MIC this, but with LC beating BD and LN I wouldn’t say it isn’t a good win. It’s impossible to read the MIC this year. I would have said North Central was the best team prior to last week. Now I have no clue
I didn't mean any disrespect to LC. The Giants thought they had it bagged in the first quarter, but LC didn't quit.

I'm not ready to count LN out of this just yet. There may be a big surprise here!
They have to get over the LC block first.

When did the mid state form? I remember the arties were a member of CI and before that the SCC. Did they leave and then come back?
I believe the Mid-State's been around since the 40's. 1942 per Almanac Sports. Decatur left & came back too.

Their last 5 games were against smaller schools that are waiting for basketball. Only Tech has a winning record (5-4). The days of Jeff putting up big numbers may be over this year. We will see if their defense can keep them in games!
I give Jeff credit for putting a MIC team on their schedule. We didn't think LC was going to struggle this mightily this year. Seemed like a nice win early in the year.

BD deserves it outright. 3-0 against the other three...
Just my opinion.
Yeah, but it doesn't work that way. The middle school AD's formed the MIIC and have tiebreakers, but the MIC so far hasn't budged on this.

In the MIC Invite (Sectional 7) the likely Sectional Championship game comes first as Warren Central (6-3) travels to the northside to face the North Central Panthers (6-3). Both teams are co-MIC Champions and WC beat NC, 28-7 the first time out. Will the "Fighting O'Sheas" defeat the defending State Champs and draw some retribution for the Regional loss last season?
I call Warren in a slobberknocker, 14-7. That means everyone should congratulate North Central on winning the game.

Great for them, I’m sure though they’d have preferred to win it outright against BD tonight.
First conference championship in football EVER at North Central, and it's the first team out of the MIC "Big Four" to win a conference title, too. Very rarely have NC, LN, LC, or Pike (or THN and THS for that matter) flirted with the conference title. Even though it was shared with BD, Warren, and Carmel, it's significant.
Really proud of Ben Davis. Wish they had not stubbed their toe against LC. I think the Giants are still playing their best football, and I'll be honest...I never saw them beating Warren, Carmel, and NC after the way they played against Avon and Center Grove. That's why they play the games, though. Jason Simmons should get some credit for keeping his team focused. When they're on, they'll be a tough out in the tournament.

Mt. Vernon hired coaches from the MIC

@DT has never respected Mike Kirschner. Never.

He'd be a great choice to get that BD program turned around.
You railed against Tom Allen, Mike Kirschner and now Jason Simmons...so carry on.

Perry joined the Mid-State because they didn't want to travel to Terre Haute and Bloomington. I don't believe Southport was interested in joining the Mid-State from my conversations with Perry Township folks. Brand new stadium facility. Would seem like someone would want to coach there if the current coach moves on. If he stays, I wish them luck. It's a proud program. Steve Purichia did a great job down there.
You're spot on about the Mid-State though. It's a stellar conference.

Congratulations to Coach Shanley. A really good guy who's done a great job.

I am ROOTING HARD for the Fighting O'Shea's this week. Go Get that Championship
He's done a tremendous job turning around a program that had lost 23 of its previous 24 MIC games before his arrival. Here they are with a share of their first-ever school MIC Football Championship (and first ever conference championship in football according to Marion County historian Jim Pich).
I'm happy with giving them a share though. If BD wins on Friday, the Giants will only be 5-4 but they will have beaten the other three teams (if Carmel wins) they will be tied with. Stupid crazy MIC this year.

In the wacky, crazy MIC...BD could force a four-way MIC tie (and have beaten the other three teams they would tie with). No tiebreaker in the MIC though.
Personally, I'm interested what's going to happen when the tournament starts. I have NO idea who's going to win 6A.

I cannot recall the last time I didnt see a player from Ben Davis, Warren or Center Grove on the Indiana Top 15 recruiting list.
The narrative floating around this forum is that The MIC is drying up and The HCC is on the rise. Carmel has 2 players on the list representing the MIC, while Noblesville and Brownburg rep The HCC.
The bigger question is....
Is this the new norm, or just a temporary downturn in talent. Lawrence Central has been a regular contributor to this list over the past decade as well.
Bottom line, Carmel continues to pace The MIC when it comes to churning out high level D1 talent. BD/WC/CG have slipped. The HCC is catching up, and may have passed the MIC if one were to look at the past 5 years, especially with the skill position talent we have seen come out of The HCC.
Clearly, all these teams are ready for contraction.🤓

Said in GENERAL, that coach speak is easy to decipher...YOU/BD brought up Mike.
In the quote I cited from the Star, it said nothing about “more time with family.” I was using that as an example.
So sensitive.
I brought up Mike because he was the first person I heard say seed 6A 1-32 and play regardless of travel. That was the reason.
You're the one, Temptation, who made it something more because you have to stir the pot. It's good for the board though. Stir stir stir. -
