"But Kirschner said himself that this move was more about needing a change of pace than it was about moving up the coaching ladder. Coaching at Ben Davis is time-consuming job."

So the guy who changes positions and cites it being a "time-consuming job" is on board with 3+ hour bus rides across the state multiple times in October/November?

    Mmmm, okay....

I'm quite sure I know Mike better than you.

Whoa.  So the coach of the SECOND biggest school in the state who consistently plays a top five schedule in the state wished that sectionals were seeded?  You don't say?

I bet he wishes Chesterton or Portage would've had to travel 3 hours on a bus to get stomped by a school twice their size instead of drawing Avon, Pike, Brownsburg or Warren in the first round...🙄

I'm just telling you what he said..and judging from what he said on Twitter now that he's at Mt. Vernon, he still feels that way.

Still haven't seen DT respond to this fact that Carmel did not travel on a beautiful night for a critical MIC game at BD.

    ---

As far as the BD facilities go, the turf, if I recall correctly, was paid for by the NFL the first time in a grant and by IU Health when it was pulled up and replaced.

Giants Stadium had the home side/track reconstructed in 2006 as part of the renovation of the Chapel Hill 7th & 8th Grade Center. The northern locker room building was built at that time and built around the existing scoreboard/storage building. It includes garage bays for outdoor equipment and maintenance vehicles. This building also houses restrooms for the visiting side. The southern (home) locker room was built in 1998.

The visitors side (OLD HOME SIDE) was constructed in circa 1988. The press box on that side was replaced two years ago as it had fallen into severe disrepair and had major roof problems. It is used by all media except for WBDG.

Wow, a complete mirror this week as I see four toss up games that could go either way in the MIC and a second consecutive week of likely chalk in the HCC.  I guess we will see.

For the season, I am 48-16, still one game ahead of Kyle, lol.

    MIC:

    Ben Davis @ Lawrence Central

The Giants continue to ride high and are putting their slow start behind them (or perhaps Avon and Brownsburg are THAT good?).  They scored on the game's first play and never looked back.  Daylan Carnell has been a breath of fresh air on defense and has been a game changer.  I think LC keeps this one respectable, but BD keeps rolling...34-20.

    Lawrence North @ Center Grove

Man, poor LN.  Taking Carmel to overtime and having Warren on the ropes only to come up 0 for 2.  I am starting to feel bad for the Wildcats as it is looking more and more like that final week showdown for Pike is to escape the basement of the MIC and get in the win column.  Center Grove did just enough to win last week in surviving a scare from those aforementioned Red Devils as the Trojans are trying to round into tournament form.  They are a different team with Carson Steele who we have yet to see and at this point, likely won't.  I'll take CG in a nail biter 23-21.

    North Central @ Pike

If not for Ben Davis' revival, North Central would own the conversation in the MIC as the hottest team right now.  After decisive losses to start the season (Fishers, Warren), the Panthers have rattled off five in a row but are facing a desperate Pike team as mentioned above.  Once again, I think the gap from the top to the bottom of the MIC is as close as its ever been and North Central is going to have its hands full.  They still prevail however.  17-13.

    Warren Central @ Carmel

Two teams searching for answers on offense...never thought we'd say that but the QB play for these two squads has been their limiting factor thus far in 2019.  Warren found some answers and responded nicely after being blanked in the first half at LN last week whereas Carmel fell short at BD.  Warren's conference title hopes hang in the balance so they are more desperate but I see home field being the deciding factor here in a 24-20 Carmel win.

    HCC:

    Avon @ Zionsville

The Orioles are nearly a unanimous #1 in 6A right now as they kept things rolling last week in holding off a hard fighting Westfield squad.  Like the MIC, the top/bottom gap is not THAT large but Avon has enough goods to get it done on the road here.  I'll take the Orioles 30-17.

    Brownsburg @ Noblesville

Brownsburg's offense seems to be gaining momentum as they took it to Zionsville last week.  They are probably already thinking about a revenge game against their rivals in the tournament and Noblesville should provide little resistance.  I'll take the Dogs 37-17.

    Fishers @ Westfield

Two teams that are difficult to figure out as it seems when they are on, they can beat anyone.  When not, they can end up on the losing end in significant fashion.  This is the toughest game to pick this week as both teams are unpredictable and it comes down to which team shows up.  I'll take the Tigers, but I am not extremely confident.  Fishers 24-20.

    Franklin Central @ Hamilton Southeastern

HSE is quietly putting together a run that should be noticed.  They've looked pretty solid after their loss to rival Fishers.  Franklin Central is playing with house money in this one as they've already overachieved based on many people's expectations entering the season.  They'll keep it close for three quarters before a late score decides it for HSE.  Royals 28-13.

I agree on all your picks.

Thanks! I wasn’t ripping BD. I was wondering if any of BD’s incredible talent had migrated farther west to Brownsburg or Avon. At 1-3, it was a very unusual start for the Giants. They always have my utmost respect, but I still think Avon/Browsburg are feeling some love at the expense of the Giants.

Kind of a perfect storm of things. Still plenty of talent here at BD. Lost a ton of seniors from the 14-0 State Champs in '17. Lots of new people starting last year, and they've continued to grow up. I think Coach Simmons is getting settled now, too. Allen and Kirschner were both on staff when they moved into the head coaching role, Simmons had been gone from BD for a few years before returning (hired in March). Then, lots of staff changes. '18 was kind of a "lost year". I think things are getting back now to normal, but we'll see as the season progresses.

Anyway, this is a thread about the Irish. Great win again for that program and for a very good coach in Coach Peebles!

Being from Cincy, I have known Coach Rodenburg for a long time, and we got to talk a couple weeks ago.  He told me, "The program was not in the situation I was told it was in when I was hired,  and it will take us a little longer to get it going than we thought, but we will get there."  He has great resume and built a great progam at a smaller school in Cincy before he went to Moeller which is typically very talented. Hang in there LC fans, he is a good man, doing the right things to get LC where it belongs.

Bill Peebles had that program going in a good direction. He rebuilt the Southport program and had LC headed north. 12-9 after two years after a three year 10-21 stretch under the previous coach. If Coach Rodenberg didn't investigate the program before he took the job, that's on him. Sorry, this doesn't make much sense to me.

Nobody is running BD out now. Vast improvement   I’m not seeing improvement out of Avon.

BD is getting healthier and getting some players back. The arrow is pointed up for sure. I'm becoming more sure about them each week. If this team we've seen the last three weeks keeps showing up, anything is possible this year.

They actually did, but had to forfeit a victory to Ben Davis because they played an academically ineligible player on one special team late in the game.  Most places would have not reported it.  NC did.......... it was in the like 1999 or 2000. So yes you are right, but with an *.   I Believe Jason Lee was the QB that year and Marion County Sherriff ( now IMPD) and frequent JMV caller Bobby Jefferson was a starting LBer.

1997...John Harrell refuses to recognize the forfeit, though...even though it very clearly happened.
