That's what my earlier post was referring to....I don't even see why the IHSAA decided to make this a headline or newsworthy?? Pretty sure if an outside agency (company) wanted to put cash in hand of athlete/employee - they have/had the right to do so. They didn't need the IHSAA permission....

Haven't read every single reply to this thread - just adding my general thoughts on the subject: 1. Was there some kind of "threat" that High Schools were going to start openly paying players (i.e. collectives in NCAA) that the IHSAA thought they needed to pass this?? 2. From what I gather - if a shady businessman/woman/company wants to start paying athletes to come play for their community - that could happen before this bill was passed?? You may not have known about it - but not certain you could say it was illegal for a company to pay someone to work for them?? 3. We're not too far away from companies demanding their "brand/logos" be put on uniforms, etc...if they are paying athletes....thus this becomes AAU. 4. I'm sure there is stuff I don't understand- but seems to be the IHSAA should have just left this alone- and dealt with other issues like seeding the postseason.

Wait.....what?? Again?? Didn't they just hire someone last year?? What happened?

Oh I'm a fan 100% - what I meant was ask Coach Sharpe how well that was received at Noblesville. (He said as much in his exit interview in the paper that people pushed back against it) Ultimately - if you win enough games - people will shut up. But if you don't, it's an easy scapegoat.

So they are basically voting on if we can start paying players at the high school level??? As I understand it - right now, as is - if a player wants to make $$ of his "brand" and sell some t-shirts with his name - good for you. Or make money being an employee for a company - he/she can do so on their own free will. Right?? So the only thing an NIL "rule" would do is change it so SCHOOLS could pay players - that is stupid.

Mr. Faulkens in his original email said "SEVERAL" reports ...and then his follow up email said they have been in contact with "Schools" with an "s" ...so a couple questions: #1 - Who actually reports these things?? Upset parents? Rival coaches? Admin's with a grudge?? All of the above?? #2 - Of course -we all want to know the violators (but realize we never will) #3 - Isn't this what the Odessa-Permian Panthers (famous Friday Night Lights team) got in trouble for ?? #4 - Is there any REAL actual penalty for violating any of these rules?? Not really...

I never said Coaches don't make good Administrators - of course there is a correlation between skill sets (it's called LEADERSHIP) And I realize all the "perks" (higher salary, desk job, etc...) of the Admin role and understand those that leave Coaching for the Admin role - however (in my opinion only) - I believe a Coach is remembered/has more of an impact that a Principal/Assistant Principal. If you want to chase the all mighty dollar and perks, makes sense and can't fault and won't fault anyone for that. If you're in it to truly have an impact/change lives - I believe a Coach has a broader reach. (That's not to say Principals/Assistant principals don't) Again - just my opinion only.

Because I don't like losing good coaches to Admin?? I'm confused??

Bummer to lose a good/young Coach to the dark-side of Admin. See it happen all too often...do Coaches not realize their reach/influence is far more reaching as a Coach than an Admin?? I guess the all-mighty dollar remains undefeated.

The last reply Bob gave on the play in question was "legal play all the way." I have/had been hoping for an acknowledgment that it was in fact - not a legal play. Other officials have stated as such on here - I was hoping our State Evaluator of Officials would do the same. That is all I EVER wanted. Sorry to drag it on.

Do you guys NOT read anything I've wrote?? I would have dropped this issue LONG AGO - I don't have a dog in the fight. What has continued me coming back to the thread is our STATE Evaluator of Officials (Bobref)'s SILENCE on the matter - or lack of acknowledgment that the crew did in fact get this wrong. Not a "legal play all the way" as he has stated. Bob has historically NEVER avoided or been this silent on a topic on this particular forum (the officiating one) on any other topic that I can gather??? I simply don't understand??

- It wasn't a fake punt at all - it was a 2nd down play. - I think 2 things can be true at the same time . #1 - I think that the South Adams coaches pulled one over on the officiating crew - and I think I fall into the "shame on you" camp in regards to the coaching staff. They had to have known they LIED to the officiating staff in order to pull this off. #2. I wholeheartly think the side judge watches #2 (the player) walking, what he thinks, is off the field. Then the snap happens, #2 runs down the sideline, and it is a TD. So - if I think that player checked out of the game -that has to be a penalty! Or...if I'm not sure if he did, he most certainly is a "hidden player" scenario, and it is a flag. I am dissapointed in the crew/officiating staff - with a TRIP TO THE STATE FINALS ON THE LINE - they wouldn't get together and get this one right.
