  1. Eagles rolling now. They drive down and get another one, this time making the PAT. 27-3 with 9 minutes to go.
  2. Eagles punch it in, but miss the PAT. 20-3. End of 3rd quarter.
  3. Teams exchange punts in the 3rd quarter, with St. Ed’s winning the field position battle. Eagles with 1st down on the CG 35.
  4. Eagles force another Trojan punt. Eagles drive down but get picked off at the 10. Half ends. 14-3 Eagles. CG has not been able to muster much offense, but St. Ed’s has helped by turning it over 3 times.
  5. Eagles force a Trojan punt, but mishandle it and CG has the ball on the 14 yd. line. Eagles hold and force a field goal. St. Edward drives after the kickoff, but CG intercepts on their own 24 yd. line. 14-3 late in 2nd quarter.
  6. Eagles force a Trojan punt, but mishandle it and CG has the ball on the 14 yd. line. Eagles hold and force a field goal. St. Edward drives after the kickoff, but CG intercepts on their own 24 yd. line. 14-3 late in 2nd quarter.
  7. Eagles draw first blood. 7-0. Long pass complete for CG down to the Eagles’ 6. But st. Edward holds on downs. Eagles now have the ball at the CG 7. Eagles punch it in and lead 14-0 early in 2nd quarter.
  8. Looks like it was a quiet night officiating-wise. Anyone see what they thought was a particularly good officiating performance?
  9. This is why you cannot draw a simple straight line conclusion from anecdotal evidence that use of Guardian caps reduces the incidence of concussions. It is more probable than not that it was these other practices adopted that were the cause of the relative freedom from concussions.
  10. Two more scientific studies conclude that Guardian caps have no effect on concussion risk. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9980188/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5634228/
  11. I can still remember my Commercial Transactions prof in law school saying “Fraud vitiates all.” In other words, if you can prove some type of fraud, you can often avoid otherwise insurmountable obstacles like a statute of limitations. As you might expect, proving fraud is very difficult.
  12. Tests have shown that straight ahead speed in the 40 does not materially differ whether on short natural grass or artificial turf. However, change of direction speed is significantly faster on an artificial surface.
  13. That may be true. But I think he’ll need an actual legal reason … and that ain’t one.
  14. It’s a pretty fact-specific issue, and we certainly haven’t heard all the facts. But the lengthy delay in asserting his rights strikes me as a significant obstacle to any relief.
  15. I think this an important point that is being overlooked. “Lying” is an intentional act. Under the circumstances it is certainly possible that Khaki Boy said something that wasn’t actually true, but which he believed to be true. That’s not “lying.” So, it is perfectly conceivable that he has good grounds for refusing to cop to “lying,” even though there is incontrovertible evidence that what he said was inaccurate.
  16. As always, it’s a great day to be an Eagle!
  17. Back by popular demand! 😂🤣 There will be a separate thread each week to address questions, observations, respectful and informed criticisms, and other officiating-connected issues. I’d like to specifically note that it’s OK if your contribution is simply observing that the officials are to be commended for a job well done. Videoclips are always welcome. We’ll try to provide explanations, discussions, critiques and, if someone screwed the pooch, we won’t shy away from it. The object is to inform and, perhaps, entertain as well. For Week One, I will be very interested to see how our officials adapt to the new penalty enforcement rules, and how consistently they officiate the new guidance on forcible contact against defenseless receivers.
  18. What an interesting constitutional question! Can a person be elected President if convicted of an offense which was committed while he was President in a prior term, and which would have been an impeachable offense? I really hope we don’t have to find out.
  19. There’s a lot about it that was unacceptable, as the “internal” investigation clearly showed.
  20. You obviously haven’t read it. Get back to me when you have.
  21. Here. Save you the price of the subscription. If you need any of the big words in the report explained, I’m happy to help. 😂🤣 https://www.nd.edu/assets/docs/notre-dame-investigation-report.pdf
