I knew ND’s use of the transfer portal had some university imposed restrictions, but wasn’t exactly sure what they were. So, I did some research. ND accepts graduate student transfers, like Riley Leonard was. But their use of the portal to recruit undergraduate players is restricted. Notre Dame has a policy that limits undergraduate transfers after their sophomore year. This means that undergraduate transfers must be admitted before their academic sophomore year, making the pool of eligible players considerably smaller. They also need to fulfill specific academic requirements to transfer credits. That’s why you don’t see established players, who are still undergraduates, transferring to ND.

😂🤣😅 No … but it should be.

Assume a 4th down field goal attempt in a high school game. Now what? https://www.facebook.com/reel/1239224637883359?fs=e&fs=e

Pretty good schedule. What’s the over/under on regular season wins in the first year of Coach Wright’s return? -
And cue the “That doesn’t prove anything, Pike is the doormat of the MIC,” response if it’s not…

Agreed. I don’t know what criteria HOF voters use. For me, the first question is “Was he a dominant player in his time?” If the answer is immediately “yes,” no other questions need be asked. Cobra is an immediate “yes.”

This is the rule book definition of a defenseless player. The rules makers don’t want a play which, by its very nature, generates defenseless players. It’s all about risk minimization.

Hard to argue with this. As Bill Parcells famously said, “you are what the record says you are.” -

Aaahhh.. The season can’t be far off. 😂🤣😅 -
Excellent question. That is still a touchback. However, suppose the runner fumbles in his own end zone and the ball goes forward and out of bounds in the field of play. That is now a safety, since the ball is returned to the spot of the fumble, which is in the fumbling team’s end zone.

It has always been the case, under the high school rules, that a fumble which goes out of bounds belongs to the fumbling team at the out of bounds spot. New for 2025, that rule has changed. If a fumble goes out of bounds beyond the spot of the fumble, it belongs to the fumbling team at the spot of the fumble. Some things to remember in applying the rule: The fumble does not have to be “forward,” i.e., the initial direction of the loose ball does not have to be toward the opponent’s goal line. The rule applies when any fumble goes out of bounds in advance of the spot of the fumble. The rule only applies to a fumble. It does not apply to a muffed backward pass, or a snap. The rule has late game clock consequences. Under normal circumstances, when the ball becomes dead by going out of bounds, the game clock stops, and starts back up at the snap. However, under the new rule, when a fumble goes out of bounds in advance of the spot of the fumble, the covering official kills the game clock. But it starts again as soon as the ball is brought into the spot of the fumble and marked ready for play. The exception to this timing rule is when the return to the spot of the fumble leaves the ball short of the line to gain after 4th down. In that case, the ball goes over, and the game clock starts on the next snap.

This guy has lots of amazing statistics. His lifetime BA was .338. Against Cy Young winning pitchers he batted .339.

I don’t judge. 🤣

The drinking thing was, at least to me, new.

Gaylord Perry was a great pitcher, but a lousy hitter, as was common among National League pitchers. They didn’t have the DH then. One day he was in the batting cage hacking away, trying to hit a home run, and his Giants’ manager, Alvin Dark, was laughing at him. “There’ll be a man on the Moon before you hit a home run,” he said. Years, later Perry did, indeed, hit a home run. The date was July 20, 1969. Perry’s homer came just about an hour after Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong touched down at Tranquility Base.

It reminds me of my high school chemistry. You now have to systems free to “mix,” with one another, i.e., the elements of both systems are free to move from one to another. The result is a period of instability, followed by equilibrium: kids moving equally in each direction.

Over on the “Eve of Rule 19” thread, @RegionFBFan has reported a rumor of mass exodus of football players from Portage in the wake of Coach Richards’ termination, now that the new transfer rule is in effect.

You think the last few years have been a wild ride in college football? You ain’t seen nothin’ yet. Prepare yourself for chaos. Remember when NIL first came up, and people envisioned a kid earning a few bucks signing autographs at the local car dealership? Yet, the Law of Unintended Consequences has us to this point.
