  1. You want old school ‘fro? Oscar Gamble who played in the Big Leagues for 17 years.
  2. I saw that. Where’s your “at least he had the balls to publicly state what he felt” for this guy, like it was for Desantis?
  3. Well, if he’s going to only line up as a WR, I’m definitely not paying him that kind of money. He is completely unproven as a route runner.
  4. This makes no sense. The two opinions have nothing in common (except the author). 420 Day is over. Put the pipe down. 🤣
  5. He wants Tyreek Hill/Davante Adams money — $70 million guaranteed with a $30 million/yr average. I ain’t paying a guy who is half running back, half receiver, top end wide receiver money. He is also much more likely to get hurt than a No. 1 wide receiver, since he runs the ball out of the backfield and his receiving yardage is mostly YAC. The risk is too great to commit that kind of money to him, not to mention you’d have to give SF probably a #1 draft choice. No thanks.
  6. Well he better start paying attention to somebody, because he’s down about 13 pts. in the polls to Crist, in what was a close race 4 yrs. ago. I was unaware there were that many intelligent people in Florida. Methinks this attempt at pandering was in the nature of a “Hail Mary” right before halftime.
  7. Brett Jennings has stepped down as Whiting’s HFC. Taking a job with the Highland school system which includes a spot as a varsity asst. coach for the Trojans.
  8. I’m going to venture a guess that if you deducted expenditures for uniforms, equipment, license fees, mileage to game sites, cost of clinics, publications, Association dues, etc., you wouldn’t have enough left over to finance a trip to Indianapolis, let alone Florida.
  9. The vast majority of officials have no real interest in showing a profit from officiating. In 40 seasons I probably broke even most of the time, but no better than that. But for many, that doesn’t mean they can subsidize their avocation to the tune of many $$ (and hours) each season. So, I say it again: money is not the answer, but it’s one of the answers.
  10. Coach Sharpe’s leaving had nothing to do with the school. Rather, it was a family matter. As for Coach Ortiz, I’m just musing, but Buzz has had some health issues. Who knows how long he’ll be there?
  11. Or getting hit by one. I moved to Indiana in the summer of ‘69. Played high school baseball in the Spring of 1970. I led off for Munster and our first game was played in about 45 degrees of blustery wind, spitting rain. With the first pitch of the game, the pitcher from East Chicago Washington hit me right on the elbow. I couldn’t feel anything in my left arm for 3 innings. BTW, the pitcher for ECW was Tim Stoddard. Remember him?
  12. Notre Dame is handling NIL in a unique way. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaafb/brady-quinn-leading-notre-dame-collective-fans-react/ar-AAWkBeK Brady Quinn Leading Notre Dame Collective: Fans React Former Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn is spearheading the new NIL collective for the school. © Provided by The SpunA closeup of Brady Quinn throwing the ball for Notre Dame. The collective already has some Fighting Irish players signed up for it. FUND (Friends of the University of Notre Dame) started up back in January and it anticipates working with more than a half-dozen Notre Dame football players this spring. The board for it includes Tom Mendoza, Pat Eilers, and Jason Sapp. Per Pete Sampson of The Athletic, the board will interview players to determine the best possible fit and charitable interests. After that, it matches the charities with the players. Quinn is really excited about getting this going. “Notre Dame is very much in this in the NIL space,” Quinn said. “The goal is to provide these student-athletes with the opportunity to be able to take a portion of their time and receive compensation for it, but really falling under the guidelines of God, Country, Notre Dame, causes that are bigger than yourself. And that’s what this is all about.” The Notre Dame fanbase is pretty excited about this new endeavor. It will be fascinating to see how this is used to try and get recruits to come to South Bend, too
  13. I’m comfortable with the relative positions of the two programs. Go Irish 🍀
  14. Merely a minor blip on the radar screen for me. But I can see where Michigan fans would latch on to it.
  15. The Jamboree format was very beneficial for the officials. You’d put 10 or so officials at each site, and they would rotate in and out all night. The great thing was that, with a mix of veteran and younger officials, you could get real time feedback on what you were doing, a luxury none of us had in season. It was, in essence, an on field clinic, coming at a very opportune time.
  16. That’s why I referenced cutting back on scholarships … which I thought was an artful way of staying on topic, if I do say so myself. No doubt @gonzoronwould agree. 😉
  17. Why, whatever do you mean? 😂
  18. Michigan may have to cut back on the athletic department spending for a while. https://www.acaseforjustice.com/university-of-michigan-doctor-sex-abuse/ $490 Million Settlement Reached in University of Michigan Dr. Robert Anderson Abuse Case. I don’t care who you are, that’s a lot of dough.
  19. In other words, doing exactly what their shareholders expect them to do.
