College football board.

It just depends on your interpretation of what "light years ahead" is. If you are a fan of college football ONLY because you like football, then yes, Bama is far ahead of Notre Dame in that regard. However, if you like college football for what it is supposed to represent............the student athlete............then maybe ND is light years ahead of Bama. Bottom line, like it or hate it......................What Brian Kelly has done with "student athletes" is nothing short of remarkable.
-
Light years in terms of what? Athletes/5-stars?

He's just looking for drama.

Big Ten administrators have looked pretty foolish since the day they cancelled the season. It's almost comical in a way.

Again. Facts. And you're never done. You're like the energizer bunny.

1. Does Clemson even know who Indiana is? Lawrence is to Clemson, what Penix is to Indiana. Not sure what you don't understand about that. 2. Indiana was ranked #11 based on what Penix accomplished when he was healthy.........to be fair. And you seem to want to ignore the fact that the #1 team in the Big Ten outscored the #1 team in the ACC by 21. The Big ten is 3-1 against the ACC and the SEC. If Indiana and Northwestern were 6-9 and Michigan and Penn State were 12-2, you wouldn't even be engaging in this conversation. In your opinion, the Big Ten is "down" because Michigan and Penn State are "down."

Thanks for the info. I always have reservations when an Indiana school takes on Ohio. By and large, I think it's a different level of play. Dwenger took out Cincinnati LaSalle a few year back, but the Jaylon Smith Luers teams got it handed to them three years in a row by Columbus Harley and manhandled by Toledo Whitmer in that same time period. That being said, Kudos to Warsaw for scheduling that game. The Tigers seem committed to building their program.

Go ahead and entertain it. I'll pull a cold coke out of the fridge, make a batch of popcorn, and wait. Prove that they were down? Bring some facts and numbers to the table this time.

Northern Indiana Questions to Ponder
BTF replied to LaSalle Lions 1976's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
More Snider fans would make the trip to Merrillville than they would to South Side. Same could be said for Dwenger. Both teams travel pretty well. At least they did before games were streamed on the internet. -
Northern Indiana Questions to Ponder
BTF replied to LaSalle Lions 1976's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I have an idea. How bout a Super Conference in the north: Snider, Homestead, Carroll, Dwenger, Penn, Elkhart, Valpo, Warsaw, and Merrillville. One non-conference game. -
Aren't you the same guy that put an asterisk on Notre Dames win over Clemson? They only reason they won was "because Lawrence wasn't playing." Wasn't ND without some starters just like Ole Miss was? Lol, talk about one sided. A healthy IU beats a healthy Ole Miss. Anyone with an IQ over 85 knows that. Penix is to IU what Lawrence is to Clemson. And I guess the Big Ten stinks only because Michigan, Michigan State, and Penn State were down. Maybe they were down because the rest of the Big Ten was up. All I know is this............the Big Ten was 3-1 in non-conference games this season. Three wins, one loss against the SEC and ACC. And the biggest win of all featured Ohio State handling Clemson with less difficulty than they had against IU, Northwestern, and Penn State.

Isn't that what we do here? Speculate? We're certainly not coaches and players. This is a fan's forum.

IU wins that game by 10-14 with a healthy Penix.

SAC too early prediction 2021
BTF replied to jakone's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I agree. Football in the state of Indiana has evolved over the last five decades. The SAC should evolve as well. Sure, the Knights have had success against both Carroll and Homestead since they joined they conference, but they struggle mightily against Snider and Dwenger. The chances of them winning an SAC title is about 5%. NE8 is definitely a better fit. I'd be curious to see what guys like Lurker and Panama think about it. The other option would be to divide the SAC into two divisions. -
Notre Dame doesn't need 10 five star guys like the other teams have. They just need a game breaking QB and WR. They are on the brink. I like Ian Book, but he was really nothing more than a very good qb capable of leading the cast surrounding him. His quality of play represents a team in the top ten, not that of a national champion. Outstanding career for a 3-star though.

It's ok, I would have taken Clemson to cover. I would be homeless if I relied on sports betting as my primary income. Lots of money lost last night. Seventy percent took Clemson to cover and 67% took Alabama.

Demolish is a good word to use if you are describing the first half of the first quarter. That's just 1/8 of the the game. What I saw was a Notre Dame team that fought hard and held Alabama to their lowest scoring output of the season. But the media wont mention that, it doesn't fit their narrative. I also saw a ND touchdown get called back on the same drive that stalled at the 10 yard line. I saw a missed field goal opportunity. I'm seeing a score that could potentially have been 31-24. But what fun is that? It's easier to just say that ND got "demolished" and did not belong...............even though the first ten games of the season suggest otherwise. Here's the thing. The only teams that are remembered year after year are the teams that make the playoffs. ND will go down as a team that had an opportunity to play for a national title for the third time in nine years. That's once every three years. Not bad for a program that does things right and continues to put the student in front of the athlete. Notre Dame is relevant on a national scale, they will be remembered in 2020, and they'll be back next year. Unfortunately, that will bother some.
-
Glad I didn't take your advice.
-
Doesn't matter how you slice it. Notre Dame is as good as anyone in the country not named Alabama or Clemson. The committee chose the four best teams in the country and Notre Dame was one of those teams. Both the AP and Coaches poll also had them at number 4 as well.

SAC too early prediction 2021
BTF replied to jakone's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I get it, the SAC is perfect the way it is for Luers.............en route to 11 state championships. It just doesn't serve the larger schools well. Why is this so hard to explain to you? If you don't understand by now, you never will. My last post on this. -
Did the assistant coach from Tech go to prison for battery?
-
I agree with the first sentence. I'll bet against the next three. Although is postgame comments won't help his cause.
-
Is it just me or does Georgia look they don't want to be there?

SAC too early prediction 2021
BTF replied to jakone's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Although Snider is moving down to 5a, I still think eliminating a couple of the bottom tier teams and replacing them with stronger opponents would still serve both them and the Saints in their pursuit of hoisting that 5a state championship trophy. But this is really becoming more and more about Homestead and Carroll since they are in 6a for good. I attribute their success against Snider the past couple of years to them joining the SAC five years ago and elevating their level of play to that of the Summit. To do the same thing on a statewide level, they'll need to open their schedule to new opponents.
