  1. I echo your sentiment on this one.
  2. It seemed like you were offering excommunication as a rebuttal for PHJIrish’s statement that “you ban yourself. It’s always your choice.” I was simply offering that excommunication only happens because of exactly what PHJIrish said.
  3. Because of the excommunicated individual’s choices and actions, right?
  4. Things may have changed in the last 6 months, but the article states that Tech will leave the NCC on June 1, 2023, so I think they will play other NCC schools (probably due to contracts and the difficulty of putting together a new schedule on short notice) but the will not be part of the conference, it appears.
  5. Pretty sure that's not the case, though I think he played 1 year for LCC's Jr. High team (could be wrong though).
  6. You’re calling someone out for ducking a question? Interesting
  7. An excellent post! Clever, thought provoking!! I think this might just be the straw that broke the camel’s back! I anticipate that this post and the numbers you articulated will end this debate once and for all on the GID!!
  8. In what ways? Please provide a way to potentially quantify your glittering generality.
  9. I guess I would say "So what!"? Why does there need to be a connection between the tournament and the regular season? If someone is unable to see the value and impact that involvement in a regular season of football provides for players, schools, communities, etc. I just don't know what to say. I'm actually intrigued by the concept of a qualifying tournament; I just have yet to hear a practical argument that I could get behind.
  10. And if that is the case, why does a change in structure need to occur? Also, if that is the case, doesn't that defeat the argument that a qualification structure provides more meaning?
  11. Footballking16 in multiple posts referred to the regular season as meaningless--that is the exact wording--the posts did not say "less meaningful". Quantify 'more meaning' for me. Would a playoff qualifier universally create more meaning or would it simply modify/change the meaning of the regular season for a certain number of schools? I am not staunchly in the camp of keeping the 'all-in' format. I would just like to see a more practical or quantifiable reasoning than the "more meaning" argument.
  12. I really am curious to know how you come to the conclusion that regular season games are meaningless. Having played, coached, and parented through more that 30 years of high school football in Indiana, I never found myself sitting there during week 3 or 4 or whenever thinking, "Gosh if only we would have a qualifying format, this game would actually have meaning, but since we don't and the game is meaningless, I really just don't care at all what happens Friday night." By the way, I've also never had anyone I'm connected with express that peculiar thought either.
  13. No that is what I was talking about. How would it be more difficult to continue to do classifications every 2 years, and implement success factor changes every other classification (every 4 years)? I'm unclear about how it would potentially be a nightmare.
  14. How would it be a nightmare? What part of classification would be more complicated that the current set up if it were a staggered 2 year 4 year approach? (honestly asking here--not trying to be argumentative)
  15. I think people say that the success factor calculations need to be over a 4 year period of time. Following it over the years, I would guess that significant population shifts happen quickly enough that waiting 4 years to reclassify would simply be too long.
  16. I'm with you that enrollment figure for this year will be inaccurate, in some cases wildly so, but what would be the solution to the problem? Using old enrollment numbers would in a number of cases be just as inaccurate right? (Given the rapid growth in some areas of the state and the rapid decline in other areas). Just putting it out there as a topic for discussion and generation of ideas.
  17. How does this situation relate to whether the IHSAA should complete new enrollment classifications this spring?
  18. Man this pandemic has been going on longer than I realized!!
  19. The IFCA All State Teams were released back in early December. Is that what you are asking about?
  20. How so? Loosening restrictions and limitations will put more fans in the stands, right? With enough butts in the stands, couldn't that potentially cover the 2021 season and at least in part "pay back" some of the losses in the 2020 season? Another approach--For most schools, football is the only "money making" sport and a number of other sports are funded at least in part by football revenue. I suppose administrators will do what they can in most cases to continue to fund the "money maker" in hopes of recouping some revenue loss, and if that approach leads to some cuts in funding for other sports, that will be the approach a lot of schools will have to use.
  21. Isn't that a question about the future/next season? And it's impact on the coming season. Agree or not, DE's response addressed the original question with a suggestion about how to get more butts in the stands, to increase revenue and hopefully avoid cost-cutting measures. Did it not?
  22. How so? What about them is different from most of the rest of the potential 5A field?
  23. Wouldn't you be able to say this about approximately 80-90% of the teams who would be so unfortunate as to face Cathedral in 5A next year? (or for that matter 4A this past year?)
