I am certainly not rooting against the Brickies, and would be happy to eat crow on here Saturday morning.  But, they are not going to be able to pound the rock like they did last week, and stopping the Rebel run game is no small task.  Offensively, they are going to have to find ways to get Vode the ball in space - jets, bubble screens, etc. He's an absolute stud IMO, but I do not see the fade jump balls working against a good/prepared defense. The Brickies are going to have to put up at least 28 pts on Roncalli to have a chance.  Throw in the fact Roncalli will be sleeping in their own beds, have faced a much tougher road to LOS, and I presume some of their coaches were on staff in 2016 and know how to keep kids' emotions in check this week,  a 28-35 point margin of victory is reasonable.  Still going 42-7 Rebels.

Rodenberg at Roncalli has won 2 Ohio State Championships (Moeller) and 1 Kentucky State Championship (Covington Catholic)  so I am taking it as a given that he will know how to deal with the kid’s emotions.

BTW, is anyone aware of another coach that has done something like this in multiple states?

  2. Well, 3 Circle City teams at LOS (Covenant Christian, Chatard and Roncalli).  It does look like Heritage Christian played the closest to WeBo but, unfortunately, weren’t able to pull off the Regional win.

I think the last time a conference put 3 teams in LOS was the NIC in 2011 (St.Joe, SB Washington and Penn) but, unfortunately, none won.  I haven’t checked, but 3 teams at LOS sounds like something the Hoosier Conference, the SAC and the SIAC may have done in the past as well.

How many, if any, CCC teams walk out with a victory?

Curious, what is the most championships a single conference has won in a year?

ps...How in the world is Chatard 3A?? This SF thing seems awfully "flawed", IMO

They bumped up the very first year of the SF when you needed 4 points to stay up.  Then the IHSAA put them in the sectional with Roncalli (which they won the first year) and they then lost to New Pal in Regional (actually closely contested until late 4th Quarter) at the start of New Pal’s run up to 5A.  The next year they lost to Roncalli in Sectional after beating them in the regular season.  They fell 3 points short.

Now it only takes 2 points.

    Foul, or no?

I knew what play you were referencing before I even linked to it.  It was actually Chatard's only penalty of the game, I believe.

No foul (at least in my viewing) but I had to replay it to catch it so I absolutely understand why the flag was thrown.

Ironically, knowing how the kid plays, I was surprised that it was him....then upon rewatching it I realized he didn't - he was pushed.

That was the same crew as last year and I thought they did a great job both years.  Fortunately, the call ended up having no effect on the game.

That was a top notch broadcast. I'm sure the fans in the area are used to seeing him if he's a regular but an extra added bonus for us old timer Central Indiana guys was seeing Bo Hundt on the sidelines. Man, that name was a blast from the past!

Bo was in the booth for them last year because one of the broadcast trio was ailing last season.

I’ve seen 3 broadcasts by WHME-46 these last 2 years.  I’ve not seen any other HS sports broadcasts in Indiana (outside of the State Championship games) that comes anywhere CLOSE to what WHME does.  They are pros.

The IHSAA would do well to have them do at least one of the State Championship games.

RhS still had good teams in the later scifres years.  Not great teams.  The wheels came off after BS left

You could measure the shift of Roncalli fortunes by simply watching the annual CYO results (with the exception of the 2 years prior to this year).

The Archdiocese school’s outcomes are almost always directly tied to historic CYO outcomes.

Roncallis falloff can be attributed as much or more to the departure of Coach Scifres than to the introduction of the SF or any other mitigating factors

Scifres has only been gone 4 years (including this year) out of those last 15 years Grandpa B referenced.  They actually have had excellent teams 2 of those 4 years he’s been gone.

Your point doesn’t follow....but then, when does it ever?
