  1. It can still be a monumental win and still not be the biggest win of Radtke's career. It doesn't have to be one or the other. Why can't we acknowledge that NP's win over Penn as a legacy win while also acknowledging that it isn't Radtke's "biggest win" of his career? It isn't. Not by a mile.
  2. Not to put words in Coach Radtke's mouth, but I'd have to imagine beating a 3-4 team in a rebuilding/injury-filled year doesn't rank anywhere near winning a state title or the numerous sectional and regional finals he has collected over the years.
  3. Beating Penn regardless of the current state of their program is always a big deal. Is it the biggest win of Russ Radtke's career? Not a chance.
  4. Thinks there's a wide gap between "normal event" and "biggest win ever" considering Radtke has won 300+ games and been to multiple state finals. It doesn't have to be one or the other in this scenario.
  5. That's a huge ravine back there and don't believe Cathedral owns that property, Fatima does. There's also a neighborhood to the East that has an ordinance preventing lights from going up. Even if all that was in Cathedral's control and they could construct a stadium, parking would be a nightmare. Cathedral doesn't have enough parking as is for the students and faculty.
  6. Wait a second....Wasn't it just last week when you said athletes aren't discouraged to come out due to large participation numbers? Oh the irony.
  7. Give it 10-15 years, I wouldn't be shocked to see Lawrence Central consolidate back to one school. With a stagnant population growth and trends of more and more families moving east into Hancock County (Mt. Vernon and New Pal), it wouldn't surprise me to see this happen. Property value and re-sale value of homes in Lawrence Township compared to those of sections of Hancock County suggest this.
  8. Sure. That’s how open enrollment works just about everywhere. But LC is hurt/impacted in a worse way than LN. The faction of Geist (the most affluent part of Lawrence Township) is seeing its kids go to private schools or HSE/Mt. Vernon.
  9. Not lost in all this, but LC should be a heavy favorite to win the 4A basketball title this year.
  10. Lawrence Township is now open enrollment I believe. There used to be 3 middle schools Belzer (LC), Fall Creek Valley (LN), and Craig (split LC/LN depending on address). Craig closed awhile back. General rule of thumb is that most kids that go to Belzer go to LC and Fall Creek Valley go to LN. There's a section of Geist, southwest part of the reservoir out to 600 between 86th and 96th street that feed into the Belzer. That area is the most affluent part of Lawrence Township and the area LC/Lawrence Township lose most of their kids.
  11. That and I just think Lawrence Township is capped with 2 schools. Geist isn't growing or getting bigger and families are moving into Hamilton and Hancock County. Better school districts.
  12. And I think it has to do with some of the reasons I stated above. There is a faction of Lawrence Township (Geist) where socioeconomic demographics are more aligned with schools like HSE and Mt. Vernon who are also closer in proximity than the drive out to Lawrence Central, along with a good percentage of kids who go the private school route (Cathedral/Chatard). Up until a few years ago Lawrence Township had districts and the Geist portion of Marion County fed into Lawrence Central. A good amount of those kids are still going to private schools, especially high school, while some are now starting to migrate towards HSE and Mt. Vernon. I also have a strong suspicion that Warren Central is still pulling some "athletes" that technically live on the southend of Lawrence Township.
  13. Socioeconomic factors. Truth be told, I grew up in Geist and went private k-12 and a lot of my friends went the same route (graduated high school 08). Today, I live on the Marion County side of Geist and more and more kids are going to HSE/Mt. Vernon for high school, especially Mt. Vernon, if they aren't already in private school. Mt. Vernon and HSE are both closer in distance to that area in Lawrence Township than Lawrence Central.
  14. A lot of those Geist kids are going to private schools and/or making the drive to Hamilton Southeastern or Mt. Vernon.
