  1. Center Grove ran a lot more Shotgun this year than I've ever seen them run prior. You're right, there is nothing wrong with being different. But in the case of Noblesville, a budding suburb with 3,000+ students and growing, I just see running heavy splits, power football as a potential turnoff when my rivals are throwing the ball all over the field in a modern offense. I'm glad it has worked for Center Grove.
  2. They do, most them being OL/DL. Center Grove has a phenomenal strength and conditioning program. what are you asking? What do you consider it? Tight splits, misdirection, all attempts at deception. It's different from the norm, to stand out. Look up the definition of gimmick. I can't answer that, I don't follow Noblesville closely enough. I would say so but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
  3. Did I ever say it couldn't be successful? All I said is that running a gimmick offense that doesn't translate to the next level, namely D1, could potentially be a turnoff to some. Noblesville is a still growing community with 3,000+ students. It's the 11th largest high school in the state. I don't buy for a minute that there isn't D1 talent or athleticism in that school to where some type of spread or modern offense couldn't be incorporated. I wish Coach Sharpe the best.
  4. Going to be awful tough catching up to teams down 3 TDs in the first half running power football.
  5. Because Kevin Wright hasn't coached Warren Central in 15 years..... You want to take a guess at what kind of offense Kevin Wright ran at IMG these last few years? What's your point.
  6. Guess this will be something to track in the coming seasons.
  7. Couldn't you spin that to also mean running an offense that best fits your personnel gives you the best chance to win? You aren't going to convince me that a school with 3,000 kids can't run some type of modern offense. I mean are you telling me that a suburban high school in Indianapolis with 3,000 kids doesn't have the ability to run something other than a gimmick offense?
  8. I remember very well, was on that team. We ran a lot of power formations that year (my junior year) and my senior year we ended up running a bunch of shotgun and Cathedral has ever since. And it's paid dividends. You're seeing more and more D1 caliber QBs coming to Cathedral because Cathedral finally opened up their playbook.
  9. Ok I'm not saying there aren't exceptions to the rule, simply said it may be a turn off to certain players. If you're an 8th grader living in Noblesville and aspire to play QB at the next level and you have schools like Cathedral and Guerin running a spread offense it may appeal more to you. Being in the largest metropolitan area in the state, you have multiple options as to where attend high school.
  10. No. Never said that. Agree, although it's tough to gauge how good a QB is handing off 50 times a game. Non-sequitur. If I'm a 6'3 200 lb kid with a lively arm living in Noblesville and my local high school runs a misdirection, power offense and I have aspirations of playing at the next level, how does that help me get there? Why wouldn't I go play at Guerin, Cathedral, Chatard, or take advantage of open enrollment and go play at a neighboring county school who throws the ball all around the field?
  11. Get what you're saying, but Noblesville is a massive school district. If Fishers and HSE can run the spread, why can't Noblesville? I just think an unconventional offense like that MAY be a turn off to some as it doesn't really translate to the next level.
  12. And it's no coincidence his teams got better in the Big East once teams like Miami, Virginia Tech, and Boston College were replaced with the likes of South Florida, UConn, and Cincinnati.
  13. Not disagreeing, still more talent than NW and Illinois though.
  14. Chris Reynolds (former PG under Knight) who is Bradley's current AD is my preference but I think they'll take a strong look at Pat Kraft from Temple. IU alum who was previous assistant AD at Indiana a few years back. He seems more qualified than Reynolds.
  15. I know for sure Illinois' composite is skewed because they added a bunch of grad transfers who will no longer be on next years team. Northwestern's lone 5* was QB Hunter Johnson who was benched halfway through the year and looks to be in completely over his head. Illinois and Northwestern lose a ton to graduation while Purdue brings back just about all of it's talent who were either true freshman or sophomores. On paper Purdue will have a more talented roster than either Ill or NW if we're strictly looking at HS recruiting rankings, that's a given. But it's still young talent. Not going to win many places when your most talented players are freshman and sophomores.
  16. Maybe. But that isn't why Glass is retiring.
  17. That was for this year. Purdue's recruiting classes from 15, 16. and 17 were atrocious. Purdue had better and more highly ranked recruiting classes in 2018, 2019, and this incoming 2020 class than both Illinois and Northwestern.
  18. Maybe not in terms of talent, but IU has -much more continuity -depth and experience -momentum and the gap is widening.
  19. Could certainly see it happening, but Illinois doesn't have near the talent that Purdue has and neither does Northwestern. Been underwhelmed with Frost. Purdue is certainly young and I think that may be there downfall for next year, especially if they can't get healthy, but their roster isn't the worst in the West. Is Shorter committed to Purdue or even a Purdue lean? Am I missing something other than he would be a really good pick up for wherever he lands?
  20. It'll be 2-3 years minimum before Rutgers is even competitive. Their roster is HORRID and that isn't going to change overnight. Maryland like Rutgers will continue to struggle trying to compete against teams outside their recruiting base.
  21. Didn't you just advocate that you were in favor of Allen's extension? What's the alternative? Let him walk, hire an unknown and pay him $2-3mil a year and watch them win 4 and 5 games for eternity? Can't have it both ways.
  22. Moore is the only player draft eligible.
  23. Is the transfer in that Tweet Shorter? Has he committed to Purdue or seriously considering them? Unless he receives a waiver, doubt he ever gets the chance to play with Rondale as I think Rondale is gone after this year.
