If they don't hire Mike Norvell they should just shut the program down. Should have hired him two years ago.

Agreed. I don’t believe Cathedral is effectively going to stop Spegal, you just have to limit him. Call me crazy, but I think this is a type of game where Cathedral prefers a shootout. I’m not convinced New Pal can match Cathedral big play for big play for 4 quarters. I think New Pal prefers this to be a ball control type game where Cathedral’s offense is off the field as much as possible.

Trust me I get it, it’s football, and high school football at that. But you can’t apply, “Chatard blows out Cathedral if they don’t turn it over 3 times” as Dmizers stated while completely not acknowledging that Cathedral botched 3 red zone attempts in the first half. That’s football and all elements of the game. Cathedral won, Chatard put up a hell of a fight, and both are excellent football teams.

My post wasn’t meant to disparage Chatard, it was meant to defend this notion that Cathedral was lucky to beat Chatard if it weren’t for Chatard’s turnovers as stated by Dmizers. You could also very easily make that case that Cathedral wins going away had they executed in the red zone. I still stand by what I posted earlier in September; it was a very hard fought game between the two north side Catholics.

I was talking about fans...

Unfortunately I think Cathedral takes these types of games for granted, and yes I’m part of the problem. I will say this, I think this NP-CHS game is the most anticipated game since CHS-Reitz round 3 in 2010. Hopefully it’s the same outcome, but NP is a very good team.

Struggled to move the ball? Against who? They hung 600 yards on St. Xavier and moved the ball up and down the field at Elder. Center Grove wasn’t their greatest game, but most of their drives stalled due to penalties. If there’s on Achilles heel with this Cathedral team it’s penalties. They aren’t the most discipline team.

It would be disappointing but not under-performing. IU is in uncharted waters right now in a place they haven't been in almost 30 years.

No but it would sting.

Carmel is peaking at the right time. I was worried about a sectional final matchup with Fishers but they get Westfield instead. Brownsburg likely going to have to pick off Warren and CG in consecutive weeks. @Temptation want to hedge?

Playoff Qualification Story (MI)

You got way sidetracked. Revise a rating system that includes W-L, opponent W-L, SOS and opponent SOS, add a tenth regular season game, and eliminate half the field at the conclusion of the regular season. Take the 16 most northern team 1-4A) and the 16 most southern teams (1-4A) and seed them accordingly. -

USC is a football blue blood. It's a much better job than Florida State. -
The IHSAA created the 6th class to promote competitive balance. Unfortunately it split one class in half thus making one less tourney game possible causing the subsequent bye. Class 5A and 6A not playing a week 10 has ZERO bearing on class 1A-4A. It's not like a 5A school has a week off to prepare for a 4A school in the playoffs, each team is at the same advantage/disadvantage. This is a non-issue.
-
? They're playing the same amount of games under DT's proposal? Week 10 for schools in Class 1A-4A is the first round of sectionals. Current week 10 for schools in 5A-6A is a bye. If you forced schools 5A-6A to play a 10th regular season game, they would be playing the same amount of games in the same given time frame. Your argument makes ZERO sense.

I get what you're saying but numbers so far don't suggest that as this 2020 class isn't quite on par with the 19 and 18 classes IU assembled. IU still only has 14 players committed so definitely time for IU to make a late push. However, IU does bring back an insane amount of talent and depth already so they aren't pressed (like Purdue) to sign a 20+ man class. Would really like to see IU sign a couple of GT's or JUCO's to really solidify an already pretty deep team.
