Thanks. It's really a subjective subject and hard to actually argue. GOAT is always up to the individual.
Was just talking about that over Thanksgiving dinner. Grandfather was class of 63 and said the same thing. Sure he doesn’t have any bias.

Westfield looked smaller and less physical than I expected. CG stuck with a very methodical gameplan and didnt need to score 50 plus to win, and they knew that going in.
Zionsville has one last chance to try and salvage the rep of the HCC tonight. I think they will put up more of a fight
Like Whiteland did?

Franklin might be the biggest fraud of them all on my opinion. Guy gets out coached in seemingly every big game. Harbaugh by record (excluding this year) hasn’t been terrible, he just can’t beat Ohio State which apparently at Michigan means more than winning a national title.
For me Luke Fickell is a no-brainer at either UM or PSU. Not sure Fickell entertains the UM job given his Buckeye alumnus status, but he’s not going to get a bigger than Penn State or Michigan.

Change my mind. Doesn’t everyone think the BD vs CG game was the state finals? I mean. Again we are talking about the the MIC. Even that injury prone limping Carmel team about pulled it out against BD. But those 3 and maybe WC ? Could beat this Westfield team?
Disagree. Westfield isn’t a bad team. They just aren’t the same level as Center Grove. Westfield is the best team in the state not named Center Grove or Cathedral and deserves to be here. Fighting till the end.

Center Grove vs. Penn State
Anyone? Anyone?
Center Grove vs. the Catholic Consortium of Andrean, Brebeuf, Cathedral, Chartard, Luers, Marian, Mater Dei, Memorial, and Roncalli
Now it’s interesting.
Well in that case, Catholic’s by 100

I'll give them that.
This CG team is definitely on the level of some of those 90’s BD teams, 03-06 Warren teams, and the 2017 BD team. Not sure the offense is quite as explosive but defensively they’ve been absolutely dominant.

No way, FBK.
I didnt know you could offer an 8th grader anything but JuJu Bees
Just what I heard and like I said, have my doubts. But if you’re playing varsity at Cathedral as a freshman, especially QB, you know the potential is there.
1 minute ago, BTF said:Really? This CG team beats a typical Carmel, WC, or BD by 25? Not sure I'm buying what you're selling.
Maybe not by 25, but this CG teams ranks up there as one of the best teams in Indiana history.

Let’s just say the 6A title goes through Johnson County for the foreseeable future.
Cathedral/CG should be a whale of a game next year as well. Cathedral returns a ton on defense and 4/5 of their offensive line. Replacing McCahill won’t be easy but rumor is their back up (freshman this year) was offered by Ball State as an 8th grader. Cannot confirm and have my doubts but just what I’ve heard from a co-worker whose son played at the same CYO program.

True or false (I cant argue: Didnt see the game) Cathedral outplayed Center Grove, right?
See my above post.

That's what I heard. I never saw the Cathedral-Center Grove game but from what I read, cathedral led in the final minute and CG snatched it away...
That doers not speak well for Zionsville's chances/
Cathedral “should” have won that game but not quite ready to say Cathedral was the better team. Cathedral played absolutely lights out on defense and their only TD of the game came on a pick 6 to take a 13-10 lead.
That being said, CG’s defensive line absolutely dictated that game. Cathedral couldn’t get anything going on offense all night. Fairly confident that if they played 10 times all 10 games are closely contested but not ready to say the outcome is a 50/50 split. What I do know is that both CG and Cathedral are head and shoulders better than anyone else in Indiana.

Does CG usually pass this often? I haven’t watched them much this year.
Pass more than your typical CG team that’s for sure. Passed a fair amount against Cathedral but a lot of it was out of necessity. Cathedral put them in a lot of third and longs.

Oh stop. ZERO effect on this game.
You just turned them over and had momentum. Not saying Westfield wins the game if they convert it, but the only way Westfield stands a sliver of a chance is to put some pressure on CG. The result of the punt was ~net 30 yards.

Game was over when they punted on 4th and 1 just shy of midfield on their opening drive. Baffling.

Webo is a 100% rural school. Not Indy nor a doughnut county.
Since when is Boone Co. not a doughnut county? It’s not a city or a typical suburban school but Webo definitely gets Indy-area coverage and is part of metropolitan Indianapolis.

Tough narrative for the anti-P/P crowd. Three consecutive state titles for a public??? Lock em up and throw away the key.

That’s why. What a game.

Lysander’s first post really ended this discussion. The Success Factor is the most practical way of solving “competitive balance”. Bumping Park Tudor and Bishop Noll up a class because Cathedral and Chatard are good at football doesn’t make any sense. Let Cathedral and Chatard bump up (because they’re good) due to the success factor and let Noll and Park Tudor continue to try and compete in their enrollment based class.

There is no doubt that in Ohio, the two best teams in the state settled the championship on the field. St X whipped Pickerington Central and left no doubt who was king of the hill.
Very, very strong possibility the best team in Ohio is Archbishop Hoban out of Akron. D2 school ranked top 10 in the country.

I was looking at the Ohio Divisional breakouts recently and noticed that all of the elite high end football programs play in Division 1. St X. St Iggy. Moeller. St Edward. They want to see the best teams play each other at the highest level. Thats the way it should be in Indiana.
1600 all males will get ya into the highest class. Roncalli and Cathedral have roughly ~600

McCahill will end up with 3000yds passing, 1000yds rushing, and 50 TDS. Have a hard time saying Steele is a lock in this voting.
Don’t have an argument there. McCahill more than deserving and probably wins it in most years. But been around long enough to know that this award usually goes to the best skill position player on the best team and Steele wins in that category.

Of course it’s coming.
Scifries success his last two years at Roncalli (15 semi-state and 16 state champions) was directly due to the SF. Cathedral was playing 2 classes up in 6A at the time and New Pal playing up a class in 5A. All three likely would have been in the same sectional.

Roncalli played 5A Harrison this year and won 49-45 in a game that saw a back-and-forth lead change until pretty much the last possession. Harrison finished 6-4 this season dropping games to 6A Jeff 76-55, Westfield 34-10, the aforementioned Roncalli 49-45, and Zionsville in the first round of sections 33-21. Not too shabby given that three of these teams will be visiting LOS next week. With that said, I would agree that, despite the really good season that Roncalli is having, a permanent position in 6A would be untenable.
Like you alluded to, SF has done what it needs to do. It may not do it immediately, but if Roncalli is really 6A material, they will be there in four years. If they aren't, then again, SF will let us know BASED ON PERFORMANCE. It will also do what it needs to do in 1A by moving LCC up next season and keeping Pioneer in 2A after moving up last time around after back-to-back state titles in 1A. Depending on where the IHSAA positions Pioneer and LCC, they could potentially end up spending a decent spread in 2A just by picking up a couple sectionals each. On the other hand, if the IHSAA puts them in the same sectional, they are guaranteeing that one or both of them will be back in 1A in the following cycle.
Doubt they’ll be in 6A. Cathedral (unless they petition to play up a class) will be 5A the next 3 years and you can be sure Roncalli (likely to be bumped after next year) will be playing Cathedral in the first round of sectionals. It’s like clock-work whoever they are both in the same sectional.
