I'm sitting in the endzone. I did see the marker thrown. Looked like the ball crossed the plane. I'm not the only one sitting here and thought the same.

Are there different touchback rules for the state finals?
-
I've said this before on here but clearly no one in the IHSAA office has read it. Just make it easy for everyone and stop the charade. Whatever school the student is enrolled at when schools return from dead week, is where the student is eligible at for that school year. The only exception for mid-year change of eligibility would be a legitimate physical move.

*WARNING: All things I have posted about my opinion, are indeed my opinion. Also, my opinion as to that Providence has done a good job managing its enrollment does not reflect other private schools that I have not mentioned and what they have or have not done with their enrollment.
-
I wonder what that's like to not have to accept everyone? If you're school was only made up of the ones that met your high academic standards, and if they falter they go? Are you still helping young people at that point or are you just serving the ones already being served?
-
So are there fewer Actually interesting information. Nice job.
-
I'll ask this since you are privy to the workings of privates. What makes them cut enrollments if not for athletics? Why is their enrollment down? Why would they not accept every student willing to pay the tuition?
-
It's all a coincidence. You're right. I don't know why you're so offended. I know you're a big supporter of your privates but I haven't actually accused them of doing anything wrong. I haven't accused them of doing anything that public schools are not doing. I haven't said they're getting an advantage. I pointed out they are in a great spot enrollment-wise to be successful in all sports and in my opinion, this was intentional.
-
So they cut their enrollment drastically to get to where they wanted and saw how much wiggle room they had. That's why theie freshmen and sophomore classes are 25% larger than junior and senior classes. I get that private schools are a business but the fact that you think if they cut their enrollment, they would be at risk for closing is laughable.

It's hard to be an elitist and inclusive. It just doesn't work.
-
Ok. Maybe you're right and their enrollment going down and them winning 7 state championships in 5 years is a coincidence. I'm pretty sure the former 3A, current 2A I mentioned has won 4 in the past 2 years. Schools don't do things like this though.
-
I do wonder why you doubt this so strongly. You can go on the school's website and read their application process. They don't take everybody, nor should they.
-
To clarify, the 2A that was 3A is a public school. So if a public does it, I don't think it's a stretch for any other school, public or private to do it.
-
I know of a current 2A that was 3A that limited their out of district transfers and eliminated their virtual program to intentionally move down a class. That was told to me by one of their administrators. His words were, we aren't hurting for money so we got rid of our online academy because they didn't contribute to anything. Those kids now attend the other county school. It's worked out well for them. It's not a leap to think Providence is doing the same. They have won 6 state championships the past 5 years and maybe a 7th next week. They only won 5 state championships in their first 50 years.
-
I'm going to say their enrollment is where they want it to be. The region Providence is located is growing population wise however, their enrollment has dipped. Since they can actually control their enrollment I'm going to say this is intentional.
-
Providence has done a good job managing their enrollment. They are in that sweet spot where they can be a big 1A in football and 2A in basketball and baseball and they can be very successful in all 3 with who they are bringing in.

How many more p/p's with football programs are there in 2024 than in the late 70's and early 80's?

Things that can improve the tournament
JQWL replied to Trojanmp52's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I do know that when we played Brownstown in Round 2, they asked if they could do some kind of entrance, which they always do. ( I don't remember what it was. Maybe an inflatable helmet thing? I didn't see it.) But they had to get approval because we wouldn't have one. We obviously didn't care. -

I'd like to see two adjoining sectionals seeded. For us, seed the 16 teams in sectionals 39 and 40. In general, the travel is the same. You'll have 2-hour drives in the current alignment or do it this way. I don't know that Sagarin is the way to go or another metric but something would be better than nothing. I almost think the sectional would be 2 weeks, and the regional 2 weeks but I'm not sure I'm sold on this. -

Trevor, I appreciate you posting on here. I am glad that after reading the comments, you question why you coach in the first place. If nothing else, progress is being made. Have a good evening. -

Sharpe Out At Noblesville
JQWL replied to Boilernation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I think everyone who coaches knows this type of guy. The youth coach that complains the entire time on Friday nights. The guy who played a little bit in high school but doesn't really know football. If this is the type of coach their youth program consists of, no wonder he wasn't successful. I love his line; we are forced to run an offense for which the kids aren't suited. It's the T. You're blocking defenders and running the football. If you don't have kids who can block and run the ball, what offense are you suited for? Noblesville hasn't had a winning season in 20 years. It's not all Dave Sharpe's fault. -

There is a post on John Harrell Proboards that appears to be from a Noblesville Youth Coach. I think the post itself is pretty telling as to what issues are there.
