  1. Former cyo guy here, they "poach" all the time. Not saying their grass root efforts are for naught. Kids talk and seem to know who has a shot at winning hardware and occasionally join their friends.
  2. Good grief....all they do is reload!!
  3. Sadly this is not the first nor will it be the last time that a coaching staff decides to lose a few more games or a shot at a title due to their "loyalty" program. Play the committed senior whose has shown up to the all the camps rather than the ultra talented transfer. Some call it politics, others call it high school football. Either way, every year there are kids on the sidelines or even walking the hallways who are difference makers...We have hatched this out on the GID many times. I lean more towards putting the best 11 on the field yet I also understand that winning isn't everything.
  4. Wow, this whole time I thought DT worked for the magazine. What is the site he created when he left GID?
  5. Gr8 question. You know DT does his own thing! Imho I don't see tons of coaches and writers putting DC that high...could be wrong though.
  6. You and those FW North Legends....I get what you're saying with warsaw, especially if placing the team that beat them so high while playing up a class.. Maybe wants to give them some hype...maybe its legit and they will hold their own in 6a with all that D1 talent?
  7. I forgot DC didn't reach the EZ that game...oof..
  8. Cathedral "departed" 4a before running roughshod through 5a. Snider did have some down years, tbh, some thought after 6a was formed that Snider would reel off a few titles before being bumped to 6a...those who watched Snider clash with traditional powers in 5a had good reason to believe so, although that was early 2000-12. Mishawaka is another school that was bumped from 4a not too long ago. You give me EC, Snider, New Pal, Cathedral, Valpo/Merrillville all lurking in 5a I'd say it was an "up" year. When you remove a couple or a few of the traditional powers, it does make the road to LOS slightly more amicable is all I am saying. IHSAA was tired of hearing us complain that the same teams won titles and wanted new blood down in Indy. I get it, it infuses life into youth programs which will keep the sport churning.
  9. Meh, I will finally say something I loathed forever, 5a was down last year, hence Warsaw being their counterpart for that championship. The SF is doing what it was created for. If they are truly a 4a program then I'd say top 25 for sure.
  10. U got it.. I thought within the last decade or so valpo had been winning the conference..mea culpa
  11. Ur saying the torch has been passed? Valpo carried the banner for that conference quite some time..
  12. When sparty stops letting the millers give em the biz..I'll reconsider..
  13. I agree. Chargers scheduled up while they were on an upswing..millers would be a better fit for the next two seasons..Noblesville were leap frogged after their regional title back in 2000..what happened??
  14. Sparty has not been what they should be...the gap between them and Carroll widens every year..
  15. Eh, from an outsiders pov...I think think the Vikings reclaim the top spot this year. Cp had a good run of talent recently and I would like to see if they can keep reloading...that rb/qb D1 combo would make a lot of teams look bad the past few years. Valpo is "due" for a Duneland title.
  16. Westfield did make them look..mediocre.. cp made Carroll look bad..don't see those gaps closing that fast for either...miracles do happen though..maybe 3 more years
  17. Very true! I had the pleasure of being a teacher's assistant for the year I was enrolled, I was blessed with effective study habits I guess... Those teachers and coaches were built different. If you did either..kudos to you!
  18. Do you think that system will actually work? Parents usually have it figured out by the time their kid gets to a certain age. Imo alumni tend to favor their old stomping grounds when dealing with their own kiddos unless they move school districts. I understand them wanting to teach schematics from the pee-wee level yet everyone loves a proven winner. With todays world kids can get recruited or even drafted while not playing much high school ball yet when a player talks to his pals they know who could make a run at a state title. Be a star player for school A and maybe win a sectional game or two vs being a star player for school B with aspirations of a deep playoff run, more fanfare, and possibly more offers.
  19. I seen Leo Qb1 is now at Carroll (FW) with the qb whisperer. I need to give a few more 100.00 handshakes before the end of the month!😉
  20. I'm all for player safety..just wonder if opinions will change every decade or so..
  21. Eh..nothing wrong with strong links replacing weak ones..separates blue from red on occasion
  22. The turfs being installed now are better than years past? Read how the NFL may consider going back to grass due to injury concerns and wondered if the purpose of turf is solely due to weather concerns? How will kids be able to rub some dirt on it if there are only fibers and rubber? What about the grounds crew? Oh the humanity!
