I’m just shocked the game is still being played at 7 PM on a Friday night. -

Yeah Columbus North and Bloomington South to the HHC would be awesome. I’m curious to see where Southport ends up. Maybe they could fill Shelbyville’s spot in the Hoosier Heritage Conference to keep them at eight members. -

Have you heard anything as it pertains to Bloomington South’s conference future or is it looking like they’ll be an independent? -

Didn’t expect Terre Haute South to beat Bloomington North for that third place spot. Not sure what happened there. -

Our pick ‘em got interrupted by GID being down for 2 and a half weeks. Curious to know if people think we should start fresh with week 4 since not everyone had time to get their picks in during week 1 or if we should just crown a winner based on percentage this year. Any input would be appreciated. -

Yes. Only reason I ask is because, in basketball, I know some states have a shot clock. I figured most rules in football were pretty consistent from state to state aside from minor differences. -

This might be a stupid question but are the rules very similar from state to state? I wasn’t sure if you had to advise out of state teams on any rules differences there will be when they come here. -

According to my Maps app, it’s an hour and 50 minute drive from Floyd Central to Warren East (located in Bowling Green). Floyd Central had a much further drive when playing Terre Haute South so I can’t imagine drive time being a major factor here. According to Wikipedia, Warren East had just under 1,000 students during the 2023-2024 schools year. So unless they had a big enrollment jump, Floyd almost doubles them up. Per MaxPreps, here’s Warren East’s records the last ten years. 2024: 6-5 2023: 6-6 2022: 12-1 2021: 5-6 2020: 4-6 2019: 4-7 2018: 6-5 2017: 6-5 2016: 3-8 2015: 1-9 Based on all this data, if Floyd Central doesn’t win on Friday night then they’ve got problems. -

Pick ‘em time! Thank God the website’s certificate was fixed so we don’t miss a week or two. This will be the sixth edition of HHC Pick ‘Em. If you are tagged, let me know if you hope to compete again this year. Others are welcome to join as well. Please note that you have to submit picks every single week before kickoff time if you want to be a part of the main competition. If you don’t, I will still allow you to submit picks and will display your totals in relation to others who failed to pick every game. However, you’ll be tabulated based on percentage and won’t be eligible to win the main competition. @LC_Bears_04 @boilerfan87 @Impartial_Observer @Olympian06 @Fkfootball @SPARKS @Bulldog15 @Uncle Bubba @mamasa @gonzoron @Bluejacket1 @Owls2005 @LawrenceGreene @billybob @starbacker @swcgillespie Week 1 Schedule BNL at 4A #5/6 Martinsville Columbus East at 5A #4 Bloomington South Floyd Central at Warren East (KY) Greenwood at Seymour Jeffersonville at Div. I had no idea Moriarity was back. What was the reason for that? I expect only good things to come from that. Can’t argue with your rankings. Those are exactly what I expect as well. -

I anticipate a similar, if not slightly better, year for Jennings County. Lots of new faces and not much depth. The biggest challenge has just been to retain kids from year to year. With the schedule change this year and next year, I anticipate they’ll get more wins as they’ll be playing more small school teams. -

They are optimistic that something is bound to happen. I didn’t get a yes or no when I asked but I got the impression the EIAC wasn’t the only potential option. Personally, my eyes are on the Hoosier Heritage Conference. Shelbyville is leaving and there are rumors about Yorktown, Delta, and New Castle potentially making a move. If all three of them leave then I could see them trying to form their own conference. At that point, Connersville and Rushville have a choice. Join the new conference, join the Hoosier Heritage (not likely), or remain in the EIAC. If one or both leave then there’s the opening for Jennings County to join the EIAC. -

Jennings County is trying to slowly ease their way out of the HHC while looking for a new conference home. New Albany was the only team able to find a replacement opponent because that’s the only way Jennings County’s former AD was willing to drop HHC teams from the schedule. They wanted to drop other HHC teams but those other teams couldn’t find replacements in time. -

Now that it’s August and we are three weeks away from the start of the regular season, I figured I’d post the non-conference schedules of each team below and note what changes have been made. @ptr @Payne I just want to say it’s really cool having you guys as part of this online community. I unintentionally have this stereotypical assumption of what the ages of people are on this message board and I’ve been way off a lot of the time. My mind thinks 20s, 30s, 40s and maybe early 50s. Both of you being north of 75 is awesome. The stories of high school sports you must have and the knowledge you bring is very valuable. I have a great appreciation of it so thank you for your contributions in these message board discussions. -

I know it’s a step down for them but I’d love to see Bloomington South and Columbus North in the HHC. I’d hope it would bring up the level of competition as a whole. Jennings County probably won’t be in the HHC much longer so this would ensure we get back to eight members. -

And 7 of the 10 public schools are 6A schools. The only public schools with less than 2,000 students on this list are East Central, Jasper, and West Lafayette. -

It’d be hilarious if Franciscan picked it up. CRH usually tries to shut them out over stuff. They want to be the only healthcare provider in Columbus. Probably. Based on previous experiences, I’ve learned not to assume a name is unique.
