  1. Columbus East and Seymour tied at 13 after the first quarter. Other than Seymour getting an INT, not much defense so far.
  2. I was able to confirm one kid is out who happens to play both offense and defense. Can’t confirm any others but that doesn’t mean they’re not out as well.
  3. I know one defensive player went out in the second quarter last week with a twisted ankle but I was under the assumption it wasn’t serious. Not sure if he’s one of the kids you’re referring to but I’m hoping to get that clarified.
  4. Let me see if I can verify that info. If so, I’ll have to withhold the names of the kids unless it’s public info.
  5. Everyone has submitted their picks for this week except for @swcgillespie. Please make sure to get your picks in before 7 PM to ensure you remain in the main competition.
  6. Week 3 Picks Columbus East (0-2) at Seymour (1-1, 1-0 HHC) Jeffersonville (0-2, 0-1 HHC) at BNL (0-2) Jennings County (2-0) at New Albany (0-2) Silver Creek (1-1) at Floyd Central (1-1)
  7. So the starting QB is practicing and the starting RB is questionable. Are there any other key injuries? I want to pick BNL over Jeff but I want to make sure they’re not too banged up.
  8. I think it’s a combination of things. I love Coach Vogel but he’s no Coach Gaddis and that was to be expected. I guess the hardest part for me is that I anticipated the fall-off to be gradual. I expected a 6-4 season at some point after Gaddis left. Instead, we went from 8-3 in Gaddis’ last year to 4-6 to another 4-6. And with the way things are looking thus far, we may be lucky to get to 4-6 again. I think not having Gaddis has something to do with it. I think the coaching staff turnover as a whole has something to do with it. And I also think talent level has something to do with it. Stevie Brown, the Kiel boys, Markell Jones, etc. all had hype surrounding them from the time they were in middle school. When’s the last time East has had kids like that on the team? Granted, coaching should develop players and it has in the past. Therefore, I think all three factors are at play here. There may even be more that I’m not mentioning. I’d heard numbers had dropped off at the youth levels and East definitely isn’t near its peak numbers either. So that could be a fourth factor. And now that I think about it, size is another factor. The kids lately don’t have the size, strength, and musculature that the elite East teams had. Go to my profile, check out my banner photo, and tell me if you’ve seen an East team looking that big in awhile.
  9. Bloomington South @ Terre Haute North Bloomington North @ Terre Haute South Southport @ Columbus North
  10. This week’s games (week 3): Columbus East (0-2) at Seymour (1-1, 1-0 HHC) Jeffersonville (0-2, 0-1 HHC) at BNL (0-2) Jennings County (2-0) at New Albany (0-2) Silver Creek (1-1) at Floyd Central (1-1)
  11. I haven’t seen a roster this year but, from what I can tell, I think you’re right. The faces on the sideline are different. David Miller had been a line coach since coming to East in 2006. He quit in order to take the AD position in the spring. Therefore, head coach Eddie Vogel may very well be the only coach from Bob Gaddis’ staff remaining.
  12. Ah ok. Thank you for the clarification. I didn’t realize it wasn’t JV vs JV Yeah, sorry. I meant bigger as in more muscular. The kids in the past were bigger in an unathletic looking way.
  13. @Grover Do you know what the JV score was tonight? Can’t imagine it was pretty. I saw your freshmen won 44-0.
  14. The line looks bigger/more athletic than I’m used to seeing from them. We’ll see how they do in the HHC. My biggest concern with Jennings County is their health. They have a lot of kids playing two or more phases of the game. Can their bodies hold up for an entire season? I hope so but that almost feels like wishful thinking.
  15. I’ve never seen a kid from Brown County that I’ve looked at and thought, “He must be a football player.” I love Brown County. It’s one of my favorite places to visit. However, I’ve just never gotten the feeling that they were that serious about athletics there.
  16. According to Sagarin, Brown County (2A) ranks #301 out of 315 eligible teams in Indiana. The only worse teams in southern Indiana are: #302 Mitchell (2A) #303 Cambridge City Lincoln (1A) #304 Union County (2A) #305 Edinburgh (1A) #308 Phalen Academy (unclassified) #310 Indianapolis Washington (4A) #313 Crawford County (2A) #314 Irvington Prep Academy (unclassified)
  17. Not that big of a deal in general but it definitely is a big deal for Jennings County. We’ll see where they are once they play some conference teams. That’s when the schedule picks up for them.
  18. HHC Pick ‘Em Standings (after week 2): @boilerfan87 12/13 @Frozen Tundra 11/13 @LC_Bears_04 11/13 @Uncle Bubba 11/13 @billybob 10/13 @Impartial_Observer 10/13 @LawrenceGreene 10/13 @mamasa 10/13 @Owls2005 10/13 @swcgillespie 9/13 @Fkfootball 6/6 @Bulldog15 5/6
  19. Floyd Central gets to the Terre Haute South 26 with 1 second to go. On the final play, Floyd Central passes for the TD, kicks the PAT, and wins 34-33. Crazy.
  20. Terre Haute South gets a TD pass with 23 seconds left. The PAT is no good. 33-27
  21. Terre Haute South intercepts it with 1:10 remaining. They’re at the Floyd Central 45.
