Week 10 Picks BNL (6-3) at Jennings County (3-6): For the second year in a row, these two meet in sectional play. BNL beat JC 63-0 at home on 9/26. Jennings County gets them at home this time. However, the Stars will likely take out their frustration on the Panthers after last week’s upset loss at Columbus East. There will be a running clock in this one. BNL leads the all-time series 47-7 and has won the last 10. This is the fourth postseason game between these two teams. BNL has the 3-0 edge there. 5A #7/8 Whiteland (7-2) at Seymour (2-7): We have yet another running clock game. This is the third meeting between Whiteland and Seymour, and every game has taken place in the postseason. The home team is undefeated as Seymour scored a 44-41 win at home in 2001 and Whiteland crushed Seymour at home 66-0 in 2020. I expect Whiteland to crush Seymour again and pick up the first road win in the series. -

I want Floyd Central to do well in sectionals but I just don’t have a lot of confidence in them. They went 8-1 but they only beat two teams with winning records (Columbus East and BNL). Castle and Evansville North are much better opponents and are on a similar level with Whiteland, maybe slightly below. Regardless, it’s going to take a total team effort. I hope they’re up for it. I’ll be pulling for them. -

East with a major upset. They beat BNL 20-17. They intercepted BNL’s QB four times. He had one TD run and 0 TD passes. Crazy. -

1 yard QB keeper by East. BNL was offsides on the PAT so East went for 2 but called a terrible pass play that was intercepted. No return though. East leads 20-10 near the end of the 3rd. -

BNL leads 3-0 at the end of the first quarter. They kicked a field goal on their opening drive and threw a pick in the endzone on their second drive. East punted on their first drive and are now at midfield on their second drive. -

HHC title on the line tonight. A Floyd Central win locks it up outright for the Highlanders. A loss means they’re sharing it with BNL or with BNL and Columbus East. I highly doubt Floyd Central loses but it’s still worth noting what’s on the line. -

Conference Indiana - 2025 (end of the road)...

I really think that Columbus North and Terre Haute South game could go either way. I think the Bull Dogs benefitted from playing three of their easiest games to start the year (Whiteland hadn’t figured themselves out yet) before playing their five toughest opponents in the last six weeks of the year. I know North is dealing with some injuries as well. I don’t have any knowledge of the severity of the injury Parker Elmore sustained against Bloomington North last week but, if he doesn’t play, I think it’s safe to say Terre Haute South wins. If Elmore does play then I think that favors Columbus North. -

Week 9 Picks BNL (6-2, 4-1 HHC) at Columbus East (4-4, 4-1 HHC): The battle for 2nd place in the HHC won’t be much of a battle. I expect a running clock in this one. I’ll be at the game so hopefully BNL’s offense keeps me entertained. The Olympians lead the all-time series 41-13 and will try to make it two wins in a row. The Stars, meanwhile, will attempt to secure their third win in the last four meetings. #8/9 Floyd Central (7-1, 5-0 HHC) at New Albany (0-8, 0-4 HHC): Speaking of running clocks, we should see one in this rivalry game. New Albany is going to finish a regular season winless for the first time ever. I bet they regret dropping Jennings County. The Highlanders lead the all-time series 32-25 and have won the last three games. The last two games were shutouts. Can they make it three in a row against the Bulldogs? Jennings County (3-5, 0-4 HHC) at Jeffersonville (3-5, 2-3 HHC): I hate to bring it up again but it wouldn’t surprise me if we see a running clock in this game as well. Jennings County is banged up and I wonder if they’ll try to salvage whatever bodies and plays they can for sectionals. The Red Devils lead the all-time series 31-7 and will try to make it two wins in a row. Surprisingly, the Panthers have won two of the last three. Seymour (2-6) at Indianapolis Crispus Attucks (7-1): This will easily be the best game of the night. The 7-1 record looks good on the surface but the schedule Crispus Attucks plays and the conference they’re affiliated with is rotten. It’s why they still aren’t getting any consideration in any of the three 4A polls. However, I still imagine the Tigers are better than the fifth place team in the HHC. This will be the Owls’ final opportunity for a win this year. While I imagine the game will be close, I’ll give the edge to the home team. Believe it or not, these teams have played each other once before. Crispus Attucks scored a 13-0 win in 1956. -

If you go to a team page and click on “Tournament History” you’ll get a rundown of all postseason championships won and all postseason results played. As you can see here, Brownstown has been to semi-state three times but has never gone further. -

Yeah North beat Castle in week 1 by 11. Castle also lost to Jasper when Evansville North didn’t. -

If Floyd Central only had to go through one of the SIAC teams then I’d agree that they have a very good shot. However, they’ll have to go through both and I don’t have the confidence that they’ll be able to do so. Both Castle and Evansville North are better than any HHC team Floyd Central plays (and maybe even Floyd Central themselves). -

First impressions of the sectional draw. 4A sectional 23: BNL got a really good draw as I don’t see any team in the top half of the bracket that can beat them. Not only are they the HHC team with the best chance to win a sectional game, they look to be the only one with a chance to win a sectional title. My biggest concern is whether they can beat Martinsville twice as that is the team I believe will come out of the bottom half of the bracket. 5A sectional 14: Whiteland gets a cakewalk to the sectional championship as they get the opportunity to knock out two HHC teams before playing East Central in the sectional championship. East Central should be the favorite but they’re not as strong as previous years. Whiteland could sneak up on them. Also, it needs to be mentioned again how dumb it was to add a 33rd team to 5A when they could’ve easily dropped a team to 4A (which has less than 64 teams). That’s the IHSAA for you. Nothing makes sense except that they will take the easy way out whenever possible. 5A sectional 16: Best case scenario would obviously have been for Floyd Central to get New Albany but that wasn’t likely. They at least have a chance against Castle but I don’t think they’ll be favored. Evansville North should be the favorite to win the sectional although I could see Castle avenging their week 1 loss to them if they get past Floyd Central. 6A sectional 8: Jeffersonville has no shot against Center Grove. I know the Trojans are dealing with injuries but I anticipate they’ll still beat Franklin Central for their 15th straight sectional title. -

Yes!!!!! 1:03:30 to be exact but thank you! Watching it back, it doesn’t look like the Jeff coaching staff was upset at the play after all. Looks like some were disappointed with the defense giving up the TD. Not sure what the coach came out on to the field to say to the ref after the long pause.
