  1. I’m not going to sit here and say East is going to win. It’s not impossible but it’s definitely improbable. At the very least I want to see them fight their hardest for 48 minutes. Maybe earn some respect for hanging with the best team in the state for a short time or for playing hard until the final whistle. Make what’s likely to be your final game in 6A a memorable one. As for Center Grove, I have lots of respect for the program and for Coach Moore. He actually earned my respect off the field ten years ago when his son (Tyson) took my sister to the Columbus East prom. My dad was planning on giving Tyson “the talk” before they all went on their ways but Coach Moore stepped in first and gave him “the talk” instead which earned our respect. We didn’t expect Tyson to do any wrong and I’m sure Coach Moore didn’t either, but it was nice to know we really didn’t have to worry one bit because he was raised right. But, anyways, good luck to the Trojans and their fans. Unless East somehow pulls off a miracle of Christ-like proportions, I’ll be pulling for you to stay COVID free and win a 6A state title like you have shown you deserve.
  2. That may be the case but either school joining the MSC would’ve saved money for BCSC. If North didn’t want to join but East did then I’m sure nobody is going to argue.
  3. 1. Columbus North didn’t want to apply. 2. Columbus East would’ve saved the school corporation a little bit of money by joining. The average HHC trip (including Madison) from East is 49.9 miles. The average MSC trip (excluding Perry Meridian) from East is 42.8 miles.
  4. My guess is that it had to do with Conference Indiana’s instability. What once was a ten team conference 15 years ago is now down to six, and only four of the current six teams were apart of that ten team league. I’m guessing it was self-preservation mode.
  5. @DT @crimsonace1 Columbus East applied for membership to the Mid State Conference as did Bloomington North. Ultimately, Perry Meridian was chosen because it was centrally located. http://www.dailyjournal.net/2018/06/25/the_price_of_adding_to_the_midstate_conference/
  6. I’m reading between the lines here and I’m not liking it.
  7. The fact that they nearly beat Brownsburg has to be tough. The kid is probably thinking they’d have won if he had played.
  8. A couple of edits to make here. Zionsville is actually the largest 5A school with 2,055 students. They played in 6A during the 2019 season but were dropped to 5A for the 2020 season as a result of Elkhart forming and being a much larger school. That threw me off when looking at the enrollment figures. Also, the IHSAA messed up Fort Wayne Snyder’s classification listing. They are a 5A-sized school playing up in 6A. This list came out prior to the IHSAA’s ruling that 2 points kept you up a class rather than 3 points (which explains the error). Therefore, the 2 points total Snider got in the 2017 and 2018 seasons kept them in 6A for the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Currently, Snider has 0 points but can remain in 6A with a semi-state appearance. Anything short of that drops them back to 5A.
  9. Enrollment/Classification News We’re now in the part of the tournament where success factor points get handed out with each win. Keep an eye on these as it will have an impact on who’s in what classification next year. 6 points in a cycle moves you up a classification . If you’re already playing up, 2 points keeps you in that classification for the next two-year cycle. 6A schools - Columbus East (0 points) will remain in 6A with a semi-state appearance. Anything short of that drops them back to 5A. 5A schools - New Palestine (4 points) has already met the 2 point threshold required to remain in 5A. However, they can move up to 6A with a semi-state appearance. - Fort Wayne Dwenger (2 points) has already met the 2 point threshold required to remain in 5A. However, they can move up to 6A with a state title. - Valparaiso (3 points) can move up to 6A with a state finals appearance. - Cathedral (1 point) can remain in 5A with a sectional title. A loss this Friday drops them back to 4A. 4A schools - Evansville Memorial (4 points) has already met the 2 point threshold required to remain in 4A. However, they can move up to 5A with a semi-state appearance. - East Noble (3 points) can move up to 5A with a state finals appearance. - Hobart (2 points) can move up to 5A with a state title. - Mount Vernon (Fortville) can move up to 5A with a state title. As far as enrollments go, here are the schools that could move up or down a classification based on the enrollment info for the current classification cycle. Lowest 6A enrollments (excluding Columbus East) Warsaw 2,103 Lafayette Jeff 2,063 Columbus North 2,063 Chesterton 2,063 Zionsville 2,055 Highest 5A enrollments Valparaiso 2,054 Jeffersonville 2,035 Fort Wayne Northrop 2,032 Harrison (West Lafayette) 1,979 Castle 1,965 Lowest 5A enrollments (excluding New Palestine, Fort Wayne Dwenger, and Cathedral) Fort Wayne North 1,550 Seymour 1,522 Munster 1,521 Mishawaka 1,477 BNL 1,471 Highest 4A enrollments Huntington North 1,459 Greenfield-Central 1,453 Martinsville 1,435 Northridge 1,397 Pendleton Heights 1,383 Evansville Reitz 1,378 Mooresville 1,372 Fort Wayne Wayne 1,369
  10. Week 12 Picks Jeffersonville at New Albany Columbus East at Center Grove New Albany is playing for its third ever sectional title and first since 2002. Jeffersonville is playing for its fifth ever sectional title and first since 2007.
  11. Pick ‘Em Standings (after week 11): @boilerfan87 39/49 (.796) @Frozen Tundra 37/49 (.755) @mamasa 35/49 (.714) @starbacker 33/49 (.673) @Fkfootball 25/34 (.735) @Olympian06 8/11 (.727)
  12. Yeah the enrollments that were put out two years ago prior to the current cycle have East at 1,475 students which is the 62nd highest in the state. When throwing the success factor into things, that puts us right on the edge of 4A and 5A depending on how many teams they plan on having in each of those classes next year. 4A currently has 62 teams and 5A oddly has 33. Not sure why 5A needs to have more than 32 when 4A has a couple of spots to fill in for a full 64 team bracket.
  13. It sucks because I’m almost always at Columbus East’s home games. Didn’t get to go to any this year. The game at Franklin Central will actually be my first East game this season. If we win, I’m hoping I’ll get to make the trip to Center Grove if tickets are available.
  14. No. Players, coaches, cheerleaders, band members and their families. My understanding is that each kid on the football team, cheerleading team, and band get two tickets for family and the seniors sometimes get more than that so more of their family can come. The tickets have never been made public because those affiliated with Columbus North or Columbus East football, cheerleading, or band end up taking all of the tickets for the home side. There’s no conspiracy here. It’s also my understanding that both schools (North and East) have been given guidelines on the number of tickets from the school corporation based on the direction of the local health department.
  15. They’re doing what they’ve done all year. Columbus East has done it the exact same way this year.
  16. Columbus East at Franklin Central Seymour at Whiteland Jeffersonville at Floyd Central I don’t think the East at Franklin Central game is going to be as easy a win for East as some might think. That 1-8 record is misleading because they play in the second best conference in the state. For instance, Noblesville (one of Franklin Central’s fellow HCC members) was 1-8 heading into sectionals last year and took a ranked and undefeated Homestead team to overtime before losing. Throw in the fact East will be without McDonald and Franklin Central could give us as much trouble as Noblesville gave Homestead. Still picking East but I’m definitely leery.
  17. Pick ‘Em Standings (after week 10): @boilerfan87 37/46 (.804) @Frozen Tundra 35/46 (.761) @mamasa 33/46 (.717) @starbacker 31/46 (.674) @Fkfootball 23/31 (.742) @Olympian06 8/11 (.727)
  18. Pick ‘Em Standings (after week 9): @boilerfan87 35/44 (.795) @Frozen Tundra 33/44 (.750) @mamasa 31/44 (.705) @starbacker 29/44 (.659) I went back and noticed Olympian06 actually made picks for weeks 1 and 8. Therefore, here are the standings for those that haven’t made picks all nine weeks. @Olympian06 8/11 (.727) @Fkfootball 21/29 (.724) These are also my picks. I can’t imagine anyone would disagree here.
  19. Yeah I’m going to have to agree with all four picks once again. I’d like to take BNL but they have really struggled to find the offense the last four weeks. I believe most of the points they scored were against back-ups. Throw in the fact they’re a physically smaller team and that doesn’t bode very well against a team with plenty of size. I personally saw what Jeffersonville’s size did to Jennings County last week and JC is bigger than BNL.
