  1. Even with a running clock, I’m not sure I can stay for this entire game. I already saw one butt-whooping last night that was a shutout. Not sure I can stomach a second.
  2. I don’t remember the exact time. It was about five minutes left in the half. Jennings County kicked it off. The Brown County player muffed it. Jennings County picked it up and returned it for a touchdown.
  3. Jennings County 52 Brown County 0 Halftime Brown County didn’t pick up a first down until 1:48 left in the half after some of the defensive starters had been pulled. That’s what I thought too
  4. Jennings County 26 Brown County 0 End of 1st quarter Brown County has yet to pick up a 1st down
  5. Wish there was some other conference representation here aside from two Bloomington South guys and a Columbus North guy. Nothing against you folks but we need more diversity here. I wish some folks from those other schools would get involved.
  6. If not for East’s 35-31 win in 2020, this would’ve been North’s eighth straight win in the series. Pretty one-sided lately.
  7. Saturday’s HHC slate: 10:00 AM - Brown County at Jennings County 12:00 PM - Christian Academy of Louisville at New Albany 7:00 PM - Seymour at Jeffersonville 7:00 PM - Terre Haute South vs Floyd Central (@ BNL)
  8. Geez man. Two weeks in a row that they can’t hold on.
  9. Third straight win for North against East. Seventh time in the last eight years.
  10. Columbus North 41 Columbus East 0 Final
  11. 12 yard TD run for North. 41-0 with 13 seconds left in the third. Thank God we finally have a running clock.
  12. East with a low snap that rolls to their endzone. The QB picked it up and had it knocked out of his hand in the endzone. East recovers in the endzone for a safety. 34-0 with 7:08 left in the third.
  13. 38 yard TD pass for North. The guy was wide open by a mile. PAT blocked. 32-0 with 7:58 left in the third.
  14. North with a 60 yard interception return for a TD. 26-0 with 9:03 left in the third.
  15. Looks like the storm is going to slide to our southeast. Looked like it was coming toward us, though, because it was growing. The second half is about to start. Didn’t expect that
  16. North with a 24 yard field goal. 19-0 with 13 seconds left in the half. It has been lightning to the south for the last 15 minutes but the refs haven’t called it for some reason. Maybe trying to get to halftime. The storm is getting closer and closer though.
  17. North tacked on a field goal. Didn’t pay attention to what the yardage was but they were in t he red zone. 16-0. Almost halftime.
  18. North blocks a 24 yard field goal attempt and returns it for the touchdown. PAT missed. 13-0 with 33 seconds left in the first quarter.
  19. 12 yard TD run for North after East fumbled it away to give them a short field. 7-0 with 4:47 left in the first quarter.
  20. To be fair, that East team would’ve beaten North in the postseason that year. We got off to a slow start and even Terre Haute North’s coach was surprised at how much better we’d gotten. (We played them at regionals.) They had studied film of East’s game against North and he thought they had a good shot to win because they played North tight earlier in the season.
  21. While I get they have eight weeks to get ready for sectionals, they’re also having to gameplan for their upcoming weekly opponents. I’ve never coached so I don’t have this insight but I wonder if coaches scout and prepare for sectional opponents in the offseason. Obviously teams and players change year to year but I get the sense that schemes are generally the same. Maybe that’s what BNL is alluding to here. I agree that there still would’ve been an outcry but I, and many others, think it looks worse by waiting to do this in the middle of the season. The IHSAA had known for awhile that they needed to make a decision on the matter. Why wait until now? Dwenger had literally been getting votes in the 5A polls the last two weeks. And as far as the decision itself is concerned, making a change in the middle of a classification period, rather than during the reclassification, opens the door to criticism. Again, I get what they were thinking but the consequences of this are a three-team sectional. That’s not ideal for anyone. If it can be helped, no team should have to sit out two straight weeks in the postseason. This could’ve been helped.
  22. I know those guys played 10+ years ago. Just saying it’s strange to me that North hasn’t had any stud football players based on the amount of college football players they produce. That’s not a knock either. When you rattle off big name Columbus football players, the top names are always East kids. It’s just surprising to me when you consider the situation.
  23. Per the article, BNL has prepared themselves for sectional 23 opponents. All of a sudden, in week 2 of the season, they’re now in sectional 24. This decision affected a bunch of teams and probably no team will be affected more than whoever gets the bye in 5A sectional 12. It becomes a three team sectional with one of them having two weeks off before finally playing a postseason game. Ask Bart Curtis and Warsaw how they liked being put in that position back in 2021. Having talked to several of their fans, they weren’t happy about it and felt it ruined their momentum. This decision-making by the IHSAA was amateur. Why did they wait so late to make this decision? Can you imagine the outcry if something like this happened at the collegiate or professional levels? Many people are confused as to why the decision was made so late, including those in the Fort Wayne area.
