  1. 10/31/14 was terrible. It was freezing with 40-50 mph winds. Several games in the region were moved to Saturday. At merriville the goal post looked as if they were gonna blow over. Couldn’t throw or kick. It was a miserable night
  2. Was his arm hit? Was he trying to throw it further to someone else but had people hanging on him or was he under pressure and just threw it to an area with no eligibles?
  3. This comes up every year but what I see is that more and more people are controlling what they can control. They can control if they continue to officiate or not. The game is losing more and more officials for 100’s of reasons. This Terrible system shouldn’t be one of the main ones. We have too many smart people in place not to fix this. No one in their right mind would sit down and come up with this system if they were starting from scratch. Fix the problem. You can’t say it’s always been done like this or if you don’t like it don’t apply because we won’t sustain the numbers and quality if we continue. What’s the point of trying to get better if it’s not recognized? Why put in extra work if it doesn’t pay off. That doesn’t make sense. We know it’s a popularity contest and the officials that only work football are at a great disadvantage. We have so many tools in place to make officiating in Indiana stand out in a positive way. Let’s figure out how to make that happen
  4. NFHS uses the term popup kick as a kick that is driven into the ground and bounces up. For years the term was used to describe a “sky” kick that never touches the ground as described in the OP. I’m not sure how the rules makers decided what to call it but I know the term can be confusing for many. When I hear pop up kick I think of the one up in air not the one described in the rule book. I see I’m not alone
  5. Yes. It’s a live ball foul and can be declined
  6. I don’t like the “if touched my R part” without clarifying. If R touches beyond the Los K recovers the kick behind the LOS they can do whatever they want still. If K recovers the kick behind the Los they can still do all of the above but need to reach the like to gain
  7. I thought it looked pretty good I was expecting something really bad but this looked pretty good I also expected the next down to be snapped from the hash but they actually moved the ball back to where it should of been
  8. Can’t use the Patriots has a repeatable example as they had the greatest O/-Lone coach in the history of football. Follow the money and the money is on the D-Line/Edge
  9. I have to respect that somewhere you have a valid point because I know how intelligent you are but trying to make a correlation between mlb and high school football doesn’t make any sense in my opinion. MLB is trying to keep as many teams in the playoff picture as long as possible hoping that not only does it generate more attendance sales in September but also makes the people who already paid for tickets attend the games and spend money. Also teams want more playoff games because of that extra income.
  10. Looks like Clay may interview a dozen or more for the job...so it seems it won’t be that hard to fill
  11. When South Bend closed your school maybe they started the trend.
  12. Have the facilities at Mishawaka changed that much to say they are great? Where do they practice? Is it in that same grassy knoll area next to the stadium? The stadium is awesome with the video board and all but last I saw the practice area wasn’t what you would call great?
  13. Devil in the details. Nfl does not have 53 players on the field. Look again
  14. Meaning he can “block” him not tackle him without the ball. Not hit high or with the helmet but can push him down or out of the way
  15. Baseball goes to 3 at the sectional level and they haven’t worked 3 man mechanics usually the whole year then baseball goes to 4 man at the state finals and some have never worked 4 man
  16. There is for sure a coach that does this (False start on purpose before the rule change)but the first part of the question I think threw off some including Bob. Correct me if I’m wrong but by rule the game clock does not start after a delay of game penalty no matter what part of the game it is??
  17. Penalty enforcement needs a lot of help. Way to many obvious mistakes made
  18. They same as a punt except you can score points. If the kick crosses the goal line it’s dead. k can recover behind the line of scrimmage and advance it but they must reach the line to gain the touching by r behind the NZ during the kick is ignored (as in first touching) if the ball crosses the NZ and is recovered by K it’s dead at that spot. if R muffs it beyond the NZ k can recover but not advance but it will be a first down for K
  19. Anything other then your hand or foot...that is part of your body...the ball is not part of your body so play on...
  20. I think the best option is for K to decline the yardage of the last one or 2 and have the ball placed where they can recover an onside kick. If I’m K I’d rather free kick from the 14 let’s say I dint know the exact yardline but then you can recover a onside kick and if not it might be onside the 5. If not the dribble it is the best option
