So, does a strength coach typically interact with non-athlete students, like teaching health, phys-ed, or something like that?

I've seen them teach electorals that usually deal with fitness which non athlete students may enroll.

One last thing: Footballking & Bash. You guys are smart. You both understand football. Two of the smarter posters on this forum. The fact that you don't comprehend what I'm saying is massively bizarre. Good luck to your teams this year.

Moving on for real now.

So basically no surprises this year?

FB16 is smart...my wife would tell you that you are giving me way too much credit.  Can't argue with her to be honest!

Hey, its ok we have different views.  Makes forums like this interesting.

I'm from Fort Wayne, so I'll give it my best shot. Ben Davis is a football school. Football brings in the most revenue (basketball could argue). Dick Dullaghan built a monster at Ben Davis. The administration made sure to continue that monster by putting the right men in the position. I'm guessing that BD doesn't put that kind of stock into the other sports. I'll defer to the Indy guys on this one, but that's my observation from 120 miles away.

I'd agree. In my day, the main things BD was known for was their excellent band program and their radio station that gave us the Calabro Brothers and Kristi Lee :)

North Central seems to focus on other sports imo..basketball n track..similar to Northrop..so much success in one sport yet nothing in football..on the other hand wc bd and Carmel all have titles in the other 2..

NC used to be very good in tennis. Several kids out of that program turned pro. I'm not sure about now.

Brownsburg has broken me Bob.

They really blew that game at BD in the last quarter. Had it all but won.

NC is easily the premier athletic program of what’s left of the MIC despite all of the ways they are shortchanged in football on here.

They are state level quality in multiple sports.

Currently:

BD is elite in football and boys basketball.

Warren is elite in football, girls track and wrestling.

LC is elite in girls basketball.

LN is elite in boys and girls basketball and wrestling.

Pike is pretty mediocre across the board.

I’m sure I am missing a few but not many.

Football is one of the few sports in which NC is NOT ranked.

Pike used to turn out some pretty good basketball teams and players.  Not sure consistently as NC and LN, but some pretty darn good teams.  Maybe former great Jeff Teague can bring it back.

The 2007 Pike graduate takes over a tradition-rich program that won Class 4A state championships in 1998, 2001 and 2003, but has claimed just one sectional championship since 2020.

Pike loses a lot of talent to Brebeuf and Cathedral in both football and basketball. Teague will at least keep some district kids home, he’ll probably even attract a few out of district kids given his AAU connections. Whether or not he can coach is one thing, but he’ll get the talent to win. He’s not taking this job to be a perennial loser.
