Thanks, Snider should be strong. Do they get to play Luers this year?

Sadly no, I think Concordia and South side are slated for weeks 3 and 4..no northside either... the O line will need to get it together. Drove by dwenger the other day..they were up and at it around 7am..they reload this year?

Hopefully, last year left a lot to be desired.

It’s Snider and Carroll then everyone else this year and looking like for years to come.

No love for the Spartans?

After seeing them sucker punch the panthers last year I wouldn't look over them..their qb returns and have size up front..

Zolman has been around long enough to know what it takes to beat Snider and Carroll. His struggle has been with the opponents he doesn't see so much. Homestead will have their uptick. I don't ever count them out. They've won four of the last six against Snider. Last year Homestead beats Snider after the panthers manhandled Warren Central. Then turn around and get manhandled by Noblesville. The Spartans are a headscratcher for sure.

Yay. What does Sparty’s record look like come playoff time? Crapola!!! You all can give credence to Sparty for accomplishing zero in the playoffs, not me

From what I know they will be better, however the O-Line it small. They picked up a few transfers from Carroll. I have noticed a trend with Carrol players who won't start at Carroll switching.

Not a good look for Dwenger if they are getting Carroll's second stringers. Is Carroll part of Dwenger's downfall? With such a great program right up the street, are parents sending their players to that new powerhouse program with great facilities and saving money in the process?

Dwenger is in free fall mode now. Under the current regime, it won’t be changing…

They have been doing this a few years now. Sometimes 2nd string kids can add.

I bet if Snider's 2nds all went to South that program would be competitive. That's my opinion.

I agree with you. Pretty sure a couple Dwenger bound kids ended up at Snider as well. Whatever is going on at Dwenger is benefitting a couple other schools

Wanted to get thoughts on who you see as the Panthers biggest rival today as compared to 5 years ago. Here are my thoughts:

2019                      2024

1. Dwenger            1. Carroll

2. Homestead       2. Homestead

3. North Side        3. Dwenger

4. Carroll               4. Luers

5. Luers                 5. North Side

That's a tough question. The school district sitting adjacent to Northrop and North Side still make them rivalries in my opinion. However, Homestead and Carroll have been the more competitive games. Dwenger will always up there at the top since the kids from both schools share the same neighborhoods and churches. I feel like Dwenger, Northrop, North Side, and now Carroll and Homestead are all a toss up. I have Luers at #6.

I based it on football only. Northrop has beaten Snider once that I can remember in the last 35 years, back when Ben Rogers was a star for the Bruins. I completely do not consider them a rival. North Side can be judged a rival in proximity only as games with them have been lopsided for years. The only thing that got them in the top 5 is all the trash talk from North Side over the years and the nasty transfer situation with the QB going from Snider to North Side as he knew he wasn’t going to start at Snider. Luers over the years as been more competitive with Snider than North Side and Northrop.

Dwenger is on the downside of what has been a great football school for years. I still had them as Snider’s top rival 5 years ago, but the downward turn has been steep recently. Competitive games are important when judging a rivalry, just think that gap is growing larger by the year with Snider and Dwenger. Dwenger is getting beat handily by Carroll and it is a struggle for them to win games against any team that is not a bottom feeder in the SAC. Reality for them again this year is 3-6 most likely and then comes Sectional time and probably at most 1 win.

I will always believe that the SAC is way better when Dwenger is good as having good competition in the conference is good for everyone. I hope they can start an upward trajectory soon, but just don’t see it under the current regime. I would love to see Snider playing good teams every week, but the current teams in the SAC doesn’t allow for that. Let’s be honest here, year in, year out Carroll will be the main competition for Snider, Homestead has the potential to be good every year, then who? Northrop, South Side, and Concordia have no shot going forward, every 10 years or so, Wayne, Luers, and North Side games might be competitive so that leaves a downtrodden Dwenger, Homestead who has never done jack crap come playoff time, and Carroll who is going to bust out as a consistent state title contender in the coming years.

1.  Northrop hasn't beaten Snider since 1999. That's how serious Snider takes the Northrop game. I'm not sure if that's enough to dub the game as a rivalry since it's been so lopsided. But if it's not a rivalry, why does Snider take the game so serious?

2.  Not only is North Side close in proximity, they have a hatred for Snider. Snider is the game they circle every year. The Panthers have to put their best foot forward, or they'll stumble. See 2011, 2013, and 2020. They darn near did it again in 2022. I've gotta say it.......rivalry.

3.  Luers has beaten Snider four times in thirty seven tries. They are a quarter of Snider's enrollment and is miles away on the other side of town. I'm struggling with "rivalry" here.

4.  Dwenger is still Dwenger and beat Snider in 2021. And 2020, 2019, and 2015. Rivalry. The Saints last two seasons have been unsettling, but I'm not ready to leave them for dead just yet. Make or break year for Jason Garrett.

5.  I'm actually ok with the occasional "bye" week. It's an opportunity to rest players and give the backups much needed reps including future starters. What Snider needs is a strong game in Week 8 or 9 so that they don't enter the playoffs soft.

At the end of the day, Snider's going to be involved in "the game of the year" most years, probably 90% of them. They are the benchmark of the SAC and have a target on their back every time they take the field. Snider easily has more rivalries than any other team in the SAC. This was a good topic.

OK, I will respond your replies:

1. Doubt very seriously that the reason Snider decimates Northrop year after year is because they take the “rivalry” seriously. Sure it has more to do with the fact that they are WAY better than Northrop in every facet of the game

2. You have a point with North Side, but it is slim. Proximity and jealousy drive North Side when they play Snider. I can somewhat buy North Side as a team that can give Snider a game occasionally, but a real rival that makes it a 50/50 game annually, uh no

3. Luers is a small 2A most years, 3A now, school that has had alot of talent over the years. High end talent that has been dominant at their enrollment level for a long time. They have given Snider a game over the years way more frequently than Northrop would ever dream of doing. True rival, no, An extremely talented 2A team, hell yeah

4. Dwenger I have acknowledged as Snider’s biggest rival until 5 years ago. I have also said many times that this is a make or break year for that coaching staff. It will be a break year for them as that schedule is intense, the talent level is not up to par, and several lopsided losses are coming. You can hang your hat on them if you want, but for them not to have a losing record would be a huge upset

5. Bye weeks suck. South Side, Concordia, and Northrop have no business on the schedule. Period. Nothing good comes from these games for either team. Injuries happen to the lessor team because they are outmanned in a big way. 42-0 at the end of the first quarter benefits who? Running clock should not happen often yet it happen in almost half of Snider’s games. Not good for anyone

Yay, we are the “biggest” game of the year for Northrop or North Side or Wayne or South Side or Concordia. 56-7 does nothing for me against those teams. Hell, Snider shows some class against those teams and calls off the dogs. Look at what Carroll has done to those teams recently and they didn’t call off the dogs until the 4th quarter. Everything I am saying about Snider applies to Carroll as well. Carroll is seriously challenging themselves with out of conference games. After this year, we drop Warren Central and pick up Warsaw to go along with East Noble. Joy. Not saying Warsaw won’t beat Snider, but it’s just like playing Mishawaka. Difficult to defend, sucks the clock, not going to get you ready for the Indy teams in my opinion

Or did Warren drop Snider? At the end of the day, Snider needs an Indy team on their schedule to have a chance at 6A. That's the cold hard truth whether anyone wants to believe it or deny it. When it's all said and done with, they'll go 4-0 against East Noble. Maybe at that point they can pick up an Indy team. This program is on solid ground and their doesn't seem to be any sign of slowing down. Go big or go home, or it'll be exclusively 5A titles after this season.

Agree with the target being on the panthers back n most teams will play their best conference game of the year when suiting up against Snider. That being said..no school has a higher disdain for Snider than Northrop..the lopsided records and sharing of the field only fuels the fire...once sni high gets their own field then maybe it dwindles..those bruins hate to see someone else dominate on their turf over n over again..

I've seen luers beat Snider when they had a future pro on the team so I'm biased towards them with number 2 on the list...coach kay has won as a player n believes he can win as a coach..chants of Rudy come to mind when walking past luersfield.

Dwenger has always had hard knock cyo kids that mix it up with fwcs youth. Winning conference titles which Snider should and could have won gives them number 3 on my list.

Sparty was undefeated and still riding high off the Rhinehart run when Snider came into their place n snuffed out their playoff run with a late fg back in early 2000's. Had the pleasure of dating a girl who babysit those kids..they really hated Snider n I'm sure their classmates n future offspring do too. Being the top NHC dog with no playoff hardware makes them bitter n rival#4.

Dinan has led the chargers to 5 on the list. Yes they have won recently and will continue to win games in the SAC...however being spartys little brother for so long hasn't put them where they should be mentally with the panthers..maybe in a decade they will jump into the top 3. Right now the history just isn't there 4 me.

The legends not only have a team that believes it rivals snider..their community does as well..they are the best of the rest (no disrespect intended as the cadets, generals, n archers all have won games) when it comes to a program itching to beat the panthers.

Some programs see beating Snider as their signature "championship" win..others don't..right now the others may be out of conference

I think Snider has 2 years at the 6A level so we shall see what happens. I said playing East Noble 4 years in a row is a travesty, not getting you ready for crap. No disrespect meant, but beating a non-descript 4A team proves what exactly? I am sure Ben Davis and Center Grove are shaking in their boots over it. Let’s add the Warsaw Tigers, that will help. Not!!! Schedule up Snider, not down…

Ziembo may be looking at who will drive the gate with ooc games..we will see what crowd wc brings this year..Warsaw n East Noble will both bring large contingents..I agree as far as indy level reps getting them prepared for 6a play...id even go for a cathedral matchup..

Wow!!! Northrop #1 rival of Snider??!! Based on being 1-35 over the last 36 years??!! Put down the dubbage, bro…

Luers #2??!! 4-33 makes them a big rival??!! Think you have been sniffing that powerful white powder that was popular in the 80’s…

I am with you on Dwenger, but they are sliding down the rival pole recently…

I have Sparty higher than you, they have more victories over Snider in the last 10 years than Northrop and Luers combined in the last 35 years. Nuff said…

Who the Hell are the Legends?? Weak ass name. Redskins or bust. Anyways, hatred yes, rival, blah…

Carroll is at the top of my list now, great team, great program, state contender going forward. Snider and Carroll players both know who the best 2 teams are, just ask them…

Love your opinions, just disagree with them…

These kids mainly hear it from family members growing up about who top dog is around the city. I'll give you credit that Carroll has been moving up as their alumni love to pound their chest now a days..however..imo..a true rivalry throws records and history out the window..its the history n tales of the past that drive these games..North side south side..fundamentally sound..no..entertaining..yes..battle of the bishops..we usually call a winner b4 the season even starts..maybe Carroll haven't won enough conference titles away from the panthers yet..maybe they never will..had the pleasure of playing cyo for a coach that stated certain teams we help up..others we plant with a tombstone..with tippy n staff being from the ike tree I don't see the chargers ascending to number 1 anytime soon..plus its preseason n I enjoy the deliberation!
