temptation Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 Brownsburg @ Franklin Central: Brownsburg put the state on notice with a comfortable win over Cathedral last week at Marian. The Irish's win over BD the prior week lost some of its luster but the Bulldogs remain Indiana's kings of the regular season. They travel to the southeast side to play a relative unknown in FC whose game with Roncalli was ruled a no contest after the Flashes were down three at the half. I hate the term "trap game" but this fits. I still expect Brownsburg to win by double digits in a game that could be close early. I'll say 31-14 Dogs. Hamilton Southeastern @ Avon: Sort of intriguing matchup here as the Royals have cruised in weeks 1/2 and Avon had the surprise of the week in 6A last week, hanging on to beat BD. HSE has state title aspirations, whereas Avon is trying to gain conference legitimacy. I see a similar blueprint to the game above. Close early before HSE pulls away late. Royals win 34-20. Noblesville @ Fishers: It's often be referred to (by me anyway) as the "big four" in the HCC and Fishers has always been the cutoff for me. That could change this week as Noblesville is red hot, whereas Fishers is coming off of a head scratcher to an upstart Pike team. I really have no clue how this one is going to turn out but if Fishers loses this game, I am not sure they recover. I'll take em at home but am not confident by any means. Tigers win 24-21. Zionsville @ Westfield: Perhaps no team was happier to hit reset Saturday morning after the storms rolled through than Westfield. The 'Rocks got down 10 early before storming back to make it three in a row over Carmel. Zionsville, meanwhile, rebounded with a shootout win over LC. I see Westfield rolling here. 'Rocks win 38-14. What say you? Quote

FridayNightLights Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 Brownsburg @ Franklin Central: Brownsburg seems to have reloaded and I was definitely wrong on them. FC is building a solid program and should give the dogs a solid test. Brownsburg 31-24 Hamilton Southeastern @ Avon: Huge win for Avon last week. Coach Gibson has some buy in from a program that we knew had the talent. This will be a big test to see how they stack up. HSE 35-28 Noblesville @ Fishers: Noblesville is another HCC team that seems to be heading in the right direction. I don't think they get Fishers this time. Fishers 38-21 Zionsville @ Westfield: Westfield proves it has no issues with the departure of Gilbert. They will be hard to beat this year. Westfield 35-10 Quote

Boilernation Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Brownsburg vs. Franklin Central: Not sure how I feel about the dual QB system at Brownsburg, but they seem to compliment each other well. The Sophomore who resembles Johnny Unitas lit up Cathedral in the passing game. Brownsburg once again wins the August State Title and once again has large lines with speed all over the skill positions. I'll take Brownsburg 41-17 over FC HSE at Avon: The BD win was a possitive step towards returning to relevance, but BD isn't the Ben Davis of last year. I'll take HSE to win comfortably: 31-14 Noblesville @ Fishers: A majority of Mt. Vernon's points were scored in garbage time and Homestead didn't to much either against Noblesville's D. This will be their first true test. I'm confidant the Miller O can move the ball on Fishers. Not so confident the D can contain Hall and Co. I'll flip your score and go with Noblesville 24-21. Zionsville @ Westfield: Zionsville's offense came alive in the 2nd half against Pike and moved the ball with ease against LC. The Eagles have a QB who can throw the ball in the portal transfer from Carmel and Eugene Hilton is the major benefactor of the passing game. He tore apart the LC secondary last week and broke their hearts with the go ahead TD on a 4th down jump ball thrown to the end zone with about 20 seconds remaining. I think the Zionsville passing game can move the ball on the 'Rocks and keep their offense off the field. I think this one will be closer than expected: Westfield 35 Zionsville 26. Quote

Westfield 35-10 Westfield still needs to find it's run game. With the departure of their 1,100+ back Garnett from last year to Warren Central, they are still lacking a bit. If they had Garnett, this team would be awfully tough to beat. Miracle was Gilbert's assistant for all 13 years that Gilbert was the head coach. He knows, the system, the kids coming up, so there should be no issues in that regard. Quote
