Center Grove @ Ben Davis:  A rematch of last season's semi-state thriller and hopefully a game that remains on the regular season schedule for the foreseeable future.  The Trojans went on the road and their aerial attack was too much for Kentucky's top rated team in Trinity.  Ben Davis got a much needed victory last week over rival Pike and has some momentum for the first time this season.  That momentum will keep it early close before CG pulls away to win by two scores.  CG wins 28-13.

Lawrence Central @ Warren Central:  Big out of state win for LC last week and they will travel to township neighbor WC this week, who has still yet to allow a point.  LC is likely the best offense that Warren has seen this year but obviously Warren is the best defense that LC has seen.  A true strength versus strength battle that will be closer than many think.  Warren wins though 20-14.

North Central @ Lawrence North:  Is Lawrence North the conference favorite?  Never thought I would type that but I love what is happening on the northeast side.  The Wildcats went on the road last week and beat a solid Ohio outfit in Wayne and returns home for a breather this week against bottom feeding North Central , whom I am starting to feel sorry for.  The Wildcats score early and often before the running clock takes over.  LN wins 48-13.

Southport @ Pike:  Pike has some big wins thus far but was not ready to take the next step in prime time last week falling again to rival Ben Davis.  This week should be an opportunity to get back on track and improve to 3-1...yes Pike at 3-1.  Red Devils win 34-10.

Trinity (KY) at Carmel:  This will give us an idea of how Carmel/CG match up since we won't get to see it on the field, barring a state title run by both as Trinity's secondary was torched last week by CG.  Carmel, like LN, took a long bus ride to the Dayton suburbs and beat Centerville (OH).  I think the Hounds make it two in a row against out of state competition.  Hounds win, 17-13.

What say you?

CG-BD: I think BD keeps it close early but CG is too much and wins 31-17.

LC-WC: LC’s offense can be explosive but Warren’s defense is too much to overcome. WC wins 27-10.

NC-LN: LN just way too much for NC. 42-7 final.

Pike-Southport: Pike bounces back against a STRUGGLING program, 40-10.

Carmel-Trinity: This one is intriguing. It’s hard to peg just how good Carmel is. But Carmel is a tough place for anyone to win it at so they get it done, 24-20.

Well, I wasn't expecting Joe Goss to start for Ben Davis, but I think he gave a good account of himself. The Giants made too many mistakes, and special teams have been a struggle this year. Missed PAT, Blocked PAT, Punting issues, Missed Opportunity to pick up a squib kick, gave up the opening kickoff for a TD return, etc. BD's secondary gave up two long TDs. You're not going to beat Center Grove doing that. Congratulations to Coach Moore on his 250th win at Center Grove. It had to be particularly sweet coming on the Westside in a place where Ben Davis and Center Grove have played some great games. Last night was not among them. I thought the offense looked pretty good considering the sophomore started at QB. The Giants moved the ball on the ground well, and the dink and dunk passing game worked. The Giants still fail to capitalize on a couple of red zone opportunities. The turnovers just have to stop.

As far as the rest of the night...Warren was as advertised. Three safeties? GEEZ! That defense may be one of the best ever in high school sports. No joy on the Westside knowing that D is up next. Lawrence North may be the only challenge for Warren in the MIC this year unless the Giants can get themselves in gear quickly. Pike did what they should have done against Southport. I thought Carmel would probably lose to Trinity, but I don't know exactly what that means when comparing them to Indiana teams. Just feel like that program is in neutral right now. They're in need of a marquee victory if a program that's won that many titles can need a marquee win.

You are right...some classic BD vs CG games at Giants stadium over the years!!

I wasn't sure about Carmel vs Trinity....Trinity could not have been happy with a 2 TD loss at home to CG the week before...a ton of pride on the line.

Warren D looks incredible....will be interesting how they play when facing a top tier offense.  But they have the players and look right now unstoppable on D.

We will find out when they play LN.

Strength vs strength.
