Doesn’t Dwenger need to have a better record than 1-8 to be considered equal footing? Plenty of blowouts in there.

The games look pretty competitive to me prior to 2010, not so much after that. Thanks for proving my point. Why do your feelings get massively crushed every time I mention anything good about Fort Wayne. What kind of trauma do you have that's associated with this city?

I suppose you also think Cathedral would have beaten Dwenger in 83, 90, and 91, lol . The Saints would have been competitive with Cathedreal in 15, 18, and 19...............which does actually contradict my point.

Still wondering though, why the hatred for the Summit City? Is it their 22 state championships? Is it the massive number of athletes they produce for the size of the city? Where is this jealousy coming from? Relax, take your time.

These were neck and neck programs 20 years ago. One took off and the other took their ball and went home at the first sign of adversity.

I know absolutely nothing about Roncalli or the Southside. Are they seeing a decline in talent from the Center Grove district or has Roncalli never really benefitted that much from the Center Grove disctrict?

Wait…what? You’re the one who interjected Fort Wayne Dwenger into a Cathedral vs Roncalli. Starting by doubting the rivalry while not knowing anything about it or its history then proceeded to double down with comments to another poster.  Aside from stating doesn’t Dwenger need to be better than 1-8 vs Cathedral to be on equal footing I’ve not said anything bad about the Summit. I stand by the statement, sorry if that hurt your feelings.

i think you would have seen the same result in 2015 as many other Cathedral/Dwenger games. 2015 Cathedral lost a double OT game to Avon in 6A Regionals (Avon lost to CG in double OT the next week). 2018-2019 might have been closer

Yes, I asked FootballKing a question and you felt the need to "interject." I asked him because I respect his opinion on the matter. This was never supposed to be a "beat up" session on the Irish, a program I happen to respect. Simply wondering why they are playing at a higher level now then they were a couple of decades ago. When I don't know, I ask. But thank you for proving my point that Dwenger and Cathedral weren't much different  in the 80's and 90's.

You always stalk my posts and make snide remarks when I mention something good about Fort Wayne. Just seems to be a trend is all. But hey, I'm all in. The entertainment you provide me when you attack is priceless.

Dude I’ve been in every Cathedral thread there is no stalking involved. You made digs at the rivalry I called you out on it (especially when you said there have been no competitive games the last 20 years yet just 6 years ago was a 4 point spread). I’ll call it as I see it. My comment was about Dwenger and Cathedral not Fort Wayne but you took it that way. There has been no trend.

So you're stalking Cathedral threads.........noted, dude.  Who's your affiliation with anyway? Certainly you're not an unbiased official. At least let us know the general area you live so we can make heads or tails of some of your speculations.

Every game since 20 years ago has been a blowout, can you blame them? You have to admit, for whatever reason, Cathedral is playing at a much higher level now than they were 20-30 years ago despite no change in enrollment. They were no better than Dwenger back then, now they're rumbling with the state's best. What changed?

Roncalli was much better this season than last.  In fact they took the opening kickoff and kept the ball for over 7:30, before turning it over on downs at the one yard line.  And do you think it's a coincidence that Center Grove football took off about 20 years ago?  I don't believe you build a winning program just by playing weak teams.  Cathedral has played Cincinnati St. X since the 90's and have only beaten them three time, for example.  Also the enrollment at Roncalli is almost equal to that of Cathedral.  I don't know the numbers now but Roncalli had a few more students recently than Cathedral.  And the numbers seemed to be down somewhat on the Roncalli sideline also.

That's an interesting question.  One that's also impossible to answer, but it does coincide a bit.  Roncalli football numbers seemed to be down last night.

Cathedral beefing up their schedule and playing a modern game of football made them the more attractive school. Roncalli was about a decade late in that regard and for whatever reason decided to drop the two best programs on their schedule (Center Grove and Cathedral).

An old open wheel racing saying is "If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch."
