Sparty Posted February 21, 2025 Posted February 21, 2025 I disagree. What if people are trying to gauge whether they want to apply or not. Figuring out the dynamics of potential staff members is of vital importance. Quote

Figuring out the dynamics of potential staff members is of vital importance. Then perhaps they should contact actual current or past staff members, coaches know how to get ahold of coaches..... If you are perspective coach who wants to apply to this job or any job and you are depending on random nameless message board people to tell you your information such as "dynamics of coaching staff" what are you actually getting? 48 min game on Friday from someone in the stands who has not been to any practice, team meeting, staff meeting, but knows the dynamics because the watched a 48 min HS football game? If that is how you are going about making a decision on whether to apply to this job or any job then best of luck as you will need it. While Mckimm may have received the accolades for NPs success it’s been the constant dedication of the the longtime assistants there. The strength coach has done wonders for the program and not just for football. Gumm made it public knowledge he was stepping away as offensive coordinator mid season last year for health reasons. I have not the cougars will continue to be successful regardless of who the new coach is because of the outstanding staff he’d inherit x1000. Majority of the assistant coaches you can tie back to the Curtis days in some capacity. They are hard working, loyal, bleed blue & gold and have been around the block, any hs program would kill to have the assistants NP has. Radtke rejuvenated the program and took it to a new level. Those same assistants have decades + of working under some of the best football minds in Northern Indiana. As you said McKim will get the credit for the last 4 years, but anybody with an ounce of knowledge of the program know it was the men behind the curtain running the show. Also spot on with the strength program at NP being a difference maker. While I believe their have been some Xs and Os deficiencies the last couple of years (insane to think about with the success that has been had) the strength/conditioning and talent alone has been a difference maker. and it has spread throughout the school. football state title game appearance in 2014, 2022, Softball has had a great run lately with a state title in 2023, baseball won state in 2024. coupled with the rise in enrollment and other factors NP is poised to be a winner for any coach wanting the job Quote

Not sure I have ever seen that before in HS. Is that normal procedure these days? Also, I don't remember seeing Gumm actively apart of operations this season compared to the past few. I saw NP live in action vs Marian and some SB opponents midway through the season and don't think he was calling plays. Just from my observations of a really good team in the area, thought that was a little unusual to see on the sidelines,. As a fan of the cougars in the community. Watching the games over the last 3 years, offense seemed to lack consistency. Could score effortlessly one week, then the next week struggle to get over 100 total yards… Quote

He’s coming into a lot better situation than he previously did. Coach O’Shea comes from a good line of coaches in his family and seems to be a good fit. When NP hired McKim his resume was less than impressive and it seemed to work out pretty well for him. 2 Quote

He was masterful with his experience within the NECC as it was constructed. Quote

It must have been like the old lightning dating I did in the '80s. 1 Quote

adambetz Posted March 19, 2025 Posted March 19, 2025 Very happy for Ryan. Got to become friends with him calling basketball games for the school. To be honest the wider Lakeland community is pretty apathetic to sports, and the parents are absolute monsters to deal with. This will be a good step for him culture wise and he really deserves the community support. He's gonna put the work in, just needs the kids and community to back him. 1 Quote
