Bremen HC Job Open

Unfortunately Coach Leeper has stepped down as HC at Bremen due to a Health situation per Sports Michiana site.  Prayers for a solid recovery coach!!     Wonder who will take that program over and what interest level will be?!?

The town rumor mill is swirling around. Heard the new AD has a candidate in mind, but would need to create a position for him. The Superintendent is not keen on that idea. We shall see. Bremen has a good group of freshmen coming up that a lot of people are excited about. Unfortunately with the new transfer rules, making the right hire is more vital than ever, because the financial repercussions of a bad hire could see a migration by some to other schools.

Makes you wonder... he is from Goshen... Goshen has been down for years!!   Heard some are looking and may not wear the white Bremen helmet... not a ton of choices as the closest school to them has a new coach that has some disgruntled athletes that may be looking to leave... where else would you think they might be considering going to??

Let's just get this out of the bag right now. I have a close contact with the Triton program and your rumor mill is absolutely wrong. This is not a mass exodus event of Triton student athletes leaving.

I wouldn't call a few students a mass exodus either.... just a few (3-4)  quality players is all.

I mean to be honest, that seems like  it's a pretty normal number for that amount of kids and parents to be disgruntled. The only issue that has been brought up is simple fact that he is not a Triton employee. It's honestly making think that the disgruntled players you're talking about think that Coach Barker came in and told players that they have to earn their spots regardless of grade they are in.

Are you insinuating that these 3 or 4 are going to end up at Bremen? I doubt your sources if that is the case. On another post you asked if Penn was going to see transfers to Bremen. No more than they normally would. Could kids end up moving? Sure, but nothing tells me that Bremen is the destination. If I am a Penn kid, Northwood, Jimtown and LaVille would all be viable options as well depending on where you live.

Previous post regarding Penn was because some of those kids essentially live in the backyard of Bremen based on school zone... that is why for that comment not Bremen necessarily, As to Triton players...just a nearby program based on not happy with decisions of the new coach etc.    I would have to agree with your statement on other options for Penn kids.

 

LaVille could possibly get some South Bend kids as well, being just south of town.

I would offer up Plymouth as a destination in Marshall County.  We play in a good conference with recent state championship participants.  We are going to be the CTE hub of Marshall County and our class offerings are numerous.  We have the best athletic facilities in the county and we can get our students either the college credits they need to cut a year off of their post-secondary schooling or using the CTE program to get them into the field of their choosing.  We have it all.  Bring your athletic children here and we will build them into solid student-athletes.

Interesting!!    1 winning season and now your the place to go......I'd be hard pressed to see students beating your door down to go there!

I find it funny that you keep beating around the bush and haven't come out and said what those kids and parents are disgruntled about.  When I brought up 2 scenarios, you replied, "Could be." Before that, you made sarcastic remarks when I said, "We will see how it goes." It seems like you have a problem with Barker based on your previous comments and I am just trying to understand why you're being so vague.

I'm just curious myself honestly on the disgruntled stuff..... personally do not even know who Barker is so nothing against him at all.... my assumption is that some kids are planning on leaving based on what I've heard at work..... I work in Plymouth FYI!    So I'll say it again "we will see how it goes"

I seen on schools staff directory that Bob Holmes is still there... he coached a few years there previously.... wonder if he's looking to get back on the sidelines as it might be the best option being in house already.

Your guess is as good as mine. I don't think Coach Holmes is a candidate though. His legal troubles are well documented, and I don't think the powers that be would go for it.  Heard a rumor that the AD had someone in mind, but they school would have to create a position for that person, and from what I am told, the Superintendent isn't keen on that idea.

I do know that at PHS we would say "Interesting! One winning season, and now you're the place to go? I'd be hard-pressed to see students beating down your door to go there!"  Obviously academics aren't a strong point.  We offer better English classes and our Math SAT scores are now 12% over the state average.  We will get you into college.

Unfortunately no one is beating down the doors of schools with great academics, and if they are, I doubt they are making a difference on Friday Nights. I've said it for a couple years now, students aren't going to schools for the academic purposes, they are going there for the athletic facilities and culture. Not that it doesn't help, but for most I don't think it's the number one selling point. Now, have a few more seasons like you had last year along with that pitch and you might see more numbers coming into your school.

Been told by many that there is a HUGE culture issue throughout all sports at Plymouth!!  If thats the case then good luck with consecutive solid seasons in any sport!

Natural talent can make up for a lot of things and as bad as they have sometimes been, Plymouth has never lacked talent. Time will tell if Plymouth can build off of last year or go back to their losing ways.
